    Thank you for making this video. I got one of the Amazon starter kits with 3 airbrushes and a compressor and it was extremely discouraging I used it a few times and felt like I just didn't have it. My wife told me to get a quality airbrush and I didn't want to waste money because I couldn't make this thing do what everybody else was doing when they airbrush, but I guess that's what my next step is. You have restored my faith in my air brushing dream. Keep up the great work always love to see a new video from your channel. Happy Easter and God bless

    I bought a cheap set from Harbor Freight. I didn't want to spend a bundle to start with, ADHD probably won't allow me to stay with it long 😂 However, I have yet to even open the box. This video made me want to open the box and at least give it a shot. Love your videos.

    I got one of those with the express purpose of doing all the stupid things you are not supposed to do. Well not express purpose perhaps.. But at least the cheapness of it would not make me feel overly bad when i messed it up. With that said i had a o-ring give up the ghost after about 8 months. Ended up with a paint Bubble Bath. Could have gotten a new one but i think i will step up one quality level instead... See how far that gets me. Then at some point i will have wrecked my way up to the big boy airbrushes.

    It's your channel , & you can say , do , & claim anything that you want . . . HOWEVER -
    I completely disagree with your assessment , without having done any "TUNEUP & ADJUSTING " . . . you didn't bother taking it apart , checking for poor fit , or looseness . . . NEEDLE CLEANING & POLISHING ? ? ? ? SERIOUSLY !
    I've had 2 careers , ONE as a MACHINIST , ( prototype & experimental ) . . . the other was a ONE MAN SIGN SHOP . . . I sprayed , brushed , & rolled more miles of paint than I care to remember !
    NOW , I'm retired . . . I've purchased hundreds of 'neglected' & 'cheap' airbrushes to 'REFURBISH' . . . Admittedly, there have been a few PAPERWEIGHTS in the mix - though I've rarely had an airbrush that couldn't be made to perform as well as , or BETTER than NEW ! I've made many parts out of DELRIN plastic , such as needle bearings & chucks that were missing . . . HDPE works well for low stress parts too !
    I make my own needles from oil & water hardening 'drill rod' - so I can custom fit a needle to a damaged , then reworked NOZZLE !
    Bottom line : You can PAY THROUGH THE NOSE for 'this brand' or that ; or you can LEARN ENOUGH , to make ANY AIRBRUSH perform as it should ! Custom fitting parts to a worn out piece of garbage airbrush CAN be a LOT of WORK - . . . but the end result is well worth the effort !

    I completely disagree. The color cup is a copy of the original Iwata HP-C, which i love. My HP-C has been my workhorse brush for 20 years. It is very easy to clean and color changes are a snap.

  • @AllinWhenPlaying
    @AllinWhenPlaying Год назад +2

    As long as the needle is straight and all the minimums are met (no leak, no broken seals) those cheap airbrushes are GREAT for putting down backgrounds and spaying stencils. I wouldn't go as low as possible (that are decent cheap ones with normal cup and not the "toilet" one) but for learning the basics they are absolutely fine. Compressor is more of an issue here than the gun, which you didn't even mention. You're feeding people a bit of an elitist crap. If you can't control the basics or you are using bad compressor, you won't be good with Iwata/H&S either - and this will cause people think that garbage like Iwata NEO is the solution, where it is the same crap as $30 Chinese ones with literally identical parts.
    As long as someone is using the cheap ones with 0.5 needle, knows how to thin the paint and actually learned trigger and air supply basics - those are perfectly serviceable. Yeah you won't make laser lines but you won't shave Michelangelo's David's balls out of mahogany with your first day on a dremel either.
    It's very easy to say "just get a pro-level tool" and scare people away, where there is a perfectly reasonable middle ground.

    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush
      @DuncanCustomAirbrush  Год назад

      Yeah but I imagine with low end that the quality checks are much more lenient on the fits and machining

    • @AllinWhenPlaying
      @AllinWhenPlaying Год назад +2

      @@DuncanCustomAirbrush By all means, not denying that - I have 5 of those cheap ones for large area spraying and I use 3 out of them as I mixed and matched parts to get the best fits possible, so there's surely some play involved. That said, none of them was unusable, just things like trigger depression, plunger, locking nut etc were better or worse fit.
      But for a learner tool? For learning how to clean one? For working on the trigger discipline? Nothing wrong with those in my eyes.

    • @AllinWhenPlaying
      @AllinWhenPlaying 8 месяцев назад

      @@VioFax Exactly. Also, a super secret trick. Try changing the spring in the Chinese one with a spring from a decent automatic ball pen - makes the trigger work way, way better, the ones in the airbrushes have bad elasticity, changing it to a pen one makes it feel way nicer.

      well actually with these super cheapies it is a hit or miss (mostly miss)on quality of all the part fitting and working together 100% as you would find in an Iwata of course. You may get lucky with a cheapy

    • @azarelthecreator7098
      @azarelthecreator7098 Месяц назад

      @@DuncanCustomAirbrush Most of these cheap brushes can be made 100 times better just by polishing the needle, They usually spray poorly because of the poor quality needle. I bet you it would perform completely different. $15 airbrush with a polished needle will not perform like a $15 airbrush anymore. Thats where the hit and miss almost always comes from is the needles poor quality.

  • @chuchuchip
    @chuchuchip 6 месяцев назад

    The one thing I have found on economical airbrushes is the needle, needs sharpening & polishing. SharpenAir Airbrush Needle Sharpening Restoration kit & a polishing paste works wonders.
