This toy was a lot of fun but the machine was so well made and heavy that it soon broke the thin plastic holder.
They also sold extra squares separately to have more different cubes.
Toy was a lot of fun and I can still remember the smell when you heated them up!

Yes, I cover the 8 extra Time Capsule Creatures and the backer cards in the video. Sadly, all of the green vacuform mountains are probably cracked nowadays. I've never seen a pic of one that wasn't cracked. One of my favorite toys!

Thanks for watching and commenting! The Strange Change Machine was always a favorite of mine since I got one for Christmas in 1967. Love some of the weird monsters in it!

If that time machine worked, I'd get inside and go back to 1967 as a kid.

Some of the types/colors of the minifigures did not reheat well, to complete the cycle or brick to shape and back to brick.
The minifigure/creatures from the expansion pack did not have this problem. I still see some of those scary things!

They dried out if reheated too many times or for too long. Supple examples of the creatures are a good find these days.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jambo! Yes, I still have my childhood one boxed up. The original box I received in '67 didn't last, but I still have all of the contents. This one in the video was purchased from an eBay seller a few years ago for around $125. I'm really glad I grabbed that when I did because that box has the awesome Monster Kid graphics! A thing of beauty indeed! Speaking of finger burns, those Thingmaker toys were good for that- Creepy Crawlers, Fright Factory, Creeple Peeple, and others. I'll be doing videos on those at some point.
Man, I received an embarrassment of wealth for 1967 Christmas. I got the Strange Change set, the MPC King Kong Jungle Set, a big Tonka truck, and several Captain Action items. I was a happy kid to be sure!

Prices vary depending on condition and how complete it is. $85 for a nice one would be a pretty good deal.

Yeah, the smell of the heating unit and hot plastic was pretty strong.
