Hi sir. Great video as usual. Please can you make one about the color of the eyes. I mean for example how to recognize Homers or tippers or tumblers Please Please
Tahsin A. Alkhuwaiter you cannot identify a breed of pigeon by its eyes. You can have any color of eyes in any breed. Some breed are more likely to have a certain color then others. Like Oriental Rollers usually only have pearl eye except true white or recessive white which has bull eyes or black eyes. Homozygous grizzle can be pure white but will have pearl eye. Racing homers have pretty much every color eye except true pearl eye. Birmingham rollers have every color of eye. So you need to be more specific as to what you want to know..
Hey Smitty first of all thx for all your videos. Been learning a lot. Keep it going. 2nd. What is a good place to purchase those show cages you have. Got into this hobby about 3 years ago. But now I am more into it. Just a back yard flyer but got helped from a well known Master Flyer here in NorCal. Name my lofts “Bad Habit Rollers” ! Anyways, all most every online pigeon supplies charges a huge on shipping. Sucks! I mean sometimes for a $50. 00 product order even with low weight the total of shipping cost will be $35 to sometimes $40!
Jeff Lostica you are better off making your one just order the tools from Jedds of Anaheim along with the wire clips buy a roll of wire 1-1/2 x9” opening and you are set

Have not seen any new videos from you. What's going on? Also, I love my birds but they take so much of my time. Im a single dad of two boys in sports, how do you find the time and energy to run such a large loft? I only have 20 rollers and that takes all my time cleaning, feeding, flying, breeding... Lastly, any advice on avoiding losses to Coopers Hawks?
Since I've been raising birds my basic color birds always performed better than everything else. My foundation cock is a raggedy black check looks like a street pigeon but in the air he's something else
CS DUSE most people that have dark blue check birds or even light check and bars tend to be some of their best birds in the air. Be careful breeding them together. Breed to Recessive reds, Ash red checks or bars. Look up Johnny Reyes channel on here and watch his videos with John Van Brock also watch the Richard Apadaca videos all 3. Smitty also has a video with Richard.
Thank you for that. Just a question about the colour Yellow/Lemon? Can you explain? Is that a dilute of brown? It Is recessive! There is also a "colour theory" that others discuss about the Colour Inheritance in pigeons but they state that there are Three basic colours: Red, Blue, Brown with the Red being most dominant and the Brown least! This was proposed by an American man. Has this now been abandoned? Please advise us. Thank you for your recordings as they are great! Keep well. Nick Sevdalis Melbourne Australia
Nice explanation bro. I read that the actual difference between grizzled and mottle birds is the fact, that in a mottle the individual colored feathers are COMPLETELY colored and in grizzled the feathers have colored, as well as white on them. Can you confirm that? Also, I'm wondering as to How one can make an Almond? What do you need to breed together to produce it?
Great Video, yellow became the dominant gene in my loft you never know what you are going to get when you buy birds . Would you know how to make Isabella ?
TheLovatt123 Isabella is actually Ash Red Dilute with either faded or milky. Most common is milky. Either way it’s not that easy to make in rollers. There are a lot of hidden factors in rollers that make it hard to get it right.
I have a question, does the pair always produce the same babies or the 2nd will be different? I have white and brown with silver their first was silver and complete brown and now they are on their 2nd and I was wonder if it will be the same.
Sir Sam thank u for sharing ur knowledge, can u make a video about yellow and saddle color pigeons. How to produce it? Love ur videos & more power. Off color lover from PH. ✌️
Excellent question they can be kept as inside pets but you need to have a really good ventilation in the room that they are in because the feather duster can be very harmful to humans I don’t suggest keeping large numbers inside with people but one or two if the ventilation is really good is OK
Thank you Sir.... Very well described. I hope you will make more video on Colours and Genetics...... Actually i want to make Yellow or Cream Bar Colour for my loft. Please make one video on how to make Yellow bar in details

The Roller Pigeon Evolution Smitty thanks. I appreciate it. Ruby red genetics do you have any knowledge or experience with them? Lavenders checks red bar and reds?
Watasi 2 lavender is spread ash. It’s best expression is ash red bar under spread. So breed ash red bar to black. Both genes are dominant and should come in the first 3 rounds if not the first round.

Erik P. Diaz Dun an indigo. Are two very different colors done is caused by Jean called dilute and it also produces creams whereas indigo indigo is the gene. When bread to black makes Andalusians
Jordan Calendas Pigeons when they are warming the eggs they lose body heat if you live in a cold climate in your birds do not have a Enough external heat And they are trying to warm eggs if they lose too much body heat they will get off the eggs or even worse they will let the babies die when they hatch because they’re cold They will preserve their own lives sacrificing the lives of their babies
Hey Sam, how do you breed indigo? Someone once told me to breed RR cock with Black hen, is this accurate?ive been breeding as suggested and they keep giving me blacks with bluebar. Any confirmation on thi?
Hi there. I thought I’d let you know you have your color identification wrong. There are only 3 colors in pigeons. Ash red ( most dominant) blue/black ( next most dominant) and brown which is recessive. It takes 2 genes of brown to make a brown cock and only 1 for a hen. Cocks carry 2 color genes and hens carry only one. All other colors are not colors they are modifiers or masking genes. Grizzle if bred to another grizzle will throw more white with each generation until you have a pure white bird but it will have a orange or pearl eye. Recessive white has bull eyes. Your comment that a silver or red bar hen will have brown flecking is incorrect. A red hen cannot have flecking because she doesn’t have a second color gene. A red cock can if he carries blue or brown as his second color gene. If he carries red then he cannot have flecking. Also you mention in your opal video that you bred 2 opals together. You shouldn’t do that with dominant opal or Almond. They carry a recessive lethal gene. If you double up on it you will have eggs that don’t hatch, young that die for no apparent reason in the nest and if one survives most likely they will be blind or have very poor eye sight and they won’t live long. I can go in depth with all modifiers but it would take forever. Look up Tom Barnhart web site and he goes in depth with the scientific symbols and everything. I know a great deal about color genetics however there are those that know more then me. Kenny Davis for one and he lives in Cali and has a feed store. I want to say it’s Pomona Feed. You can also look up Frank Moscas on Facebook he know pretty much everything. I go to him when I have a question. You can ask me if you like. Look me up on Facebook.
