He's not stupid. He's old. He's very old, and he is doing a job where you don't get to sleep and one slip-up can result in a country getting bombed. He should be on a beach chilling somewhere, and there absolutely must be an age limit for politicians. If you can be considered too young, you can be too old.

The first few presidents left office between 61 and 69 years of age, it is said that aging has slowed around 10 years due to modern medicine. The age limit therefore should be set up so that presidents will leave office before they turn 80. The age limit should therefore be that a candidate must be under 76 on inauguration Day. This would, unfortunately make the Hoover rule impossible to continue by 2040,

But over his life he has been able to suppress it and minimize to the point where he doesn't stutter. However as he ages, gets older and more tired, supressing the stutter becomes harder. It has always been a speech debugger for him, having to spend energy to supress it, but as he gets old, it becomes more impossible. You can hear he already starts to mumble words more in the 2012 clip.

To have a sharp political mind is a gift that is given to hardly anyone these days, and to lose your ability to express your thoughts is heartbreaking. To finally get the job of your dreams, only when you're far too old to make the best use out of it, then to be told by your friends and colleagues that you have to step aside and leave has to be one of the most difficult things that can happen to a man like that. I wish it came earlier, I wish it happened under better terms. It shouldn't be, "Go away, you old fart. We don't want you here." It should be, "Joe, you've had one of the most remarkable political careers in America. You've lived a life of service, you've done your duty to this country, and right now, the last step in insuring the future of your country is to step aside and let the future take over." It has to happen. It has to be this way, but it doesn't come out of malice. It comes out of absolute necessity, because the threat that faces this country is too large to make mistakes over. Joe Biden was a good president. He did his job, he did his duty, but the future is imperiled and we can't afford to take chances.

For those saying this is a "he's too old" issue... It's not. My mother is 77, that is just 4 years younger than Biden. She never has to re-calculate and backtrack her wording, she's just as quickwitted as she was when she was 45-50, she can keep up the pace with my regular walks while chatting without taking a break nor needing to catch her breath (I'm 35)... This is not "just" an age issue. Biden aged BADLY. It happens to some people. He also survived 2 brain aneurysms when he was 45. They didn't evolve into fullblown strokes, but even then, that's not "free". There's a high likelyhood complications like those will eventually catch up to you in your old age.
IDK if he'll live 4 more years or not, but he FOR SURE won't be cognitively adept to live without almost constant caretaking for 4 more years, which, for the PRESIDENCY... It's kind of the same thing. And besides... LOOK WHAT WE'RE DISCUSSING HERE: "You think this guy will fucking DIE in 4 years?"... Screw policy, we're not even sure he'll be drawing breath! He needs to step down and let someone else take the lead. This isn't about him as much as taking the car keys from grandpa isn't about grandpa. It's about the pedestrians (aka: the rest of the country, in this case).

Him stepping down would effectively make it a guaranteed win for Trump, it's just not possible for that to realistically happen. I also don't think you can compare him your mother, unless she had an incredibly high stress job that was essentially her life, I get what you're trying to say but it's just not a proper comparison. At such a high age people just deteriorate, it's how it is. While ideally he would step down and have someone take the place, it's not a realistic solution, and it isn't happening.
With all that said, even a moldy piece of bread is better than Trump as president.
People rag on Biden for talking badly, but that's about it, his office makes good decisions and overall his presidency is not bad, unlike Trump's. If you see the news, you will notice Trump is someone who should be in jail, but because of his status and the corruption in the government, he gets off scot free. He should not be running either, yet nobody is talking about that.

Off topic, but as a Brit two things struck me about the language used: in the UK, "Middle class" is always used as a slur - "Ugh! That's such a middle class thing to say...", "They only care about the middle classes..." and hardly anyone ever admits to being part of it - there is even a trend for very comfortably off middle class people to drop their t's or h's and pretend to be less well off; almost everyone comes "from a working class background" and is apparently the first person in their family to go to University. The phrase "prolier than thou" is attached to such people. In the States, I've noticed that it tends to be used in a positive sense, to basically most people, on average/middle incomes. In the UK class is much more bound up in background and supposed attitudes and tastes. The second thing, perhaps trivial, is that he says "not one penny," rather than "not one cent," and I hadn't realised "penny" - UK currency of course - is referenced in American parlance.
