Navegaon- Nagzira Tiger Reserve is situated 120 Km from Nagpur and 70 Km from Gondia. It is 11 km away from the National Highway 6. The origin of the name came from a Nag temple sited at the center of the sanctuary and the temple of Mahadeo. The origin of ‘Zira’ (zara) in Marathi means a lasting source of water that ooze out from a valley in Pongezara, Nagzira. It is a shelter for such wide range of wildlife like Indian wild boar, mouse deer, sambar deer, dholes, jungle cats, herbivores mammals, reptiles, bengal tiger, leopard, chitkul and much more.
Nagzira has four entrance gates named as Pitezari, Umarzari, Mangezari and the Chorkhamara.
