Miss seeing and hearing Johnny on NBC. He was the best. Hasn't been the same without him.

By far, Johnny Miller has the best swing technique in the game.

In 1994 (just a couple weeks after J.M. won the AT&T at Pebble Beach) I was practicing some putting at a practice facility near Cotati CA. After stroking some putts on the artificial turf there..
I glanced up..and looking back at me was JM!
I knew who it was immediately..but did not let on that I knew. Johnny had apparently swung by because he wanted to check out the artificial green. He explained to me that his friend Paul Azinger had a similar set up in his backyard. Then he asked whether he could borrow my putter to hit a few putts!
The whole experience was pretty surreal.
When he handed me back my putter..
and was about to leave.. I congratulated him on his amazing victory at Pebble Beach. He thanked me and wished me luck with my training. Super nice intelligent guy. The whole experience was pretty mind blowing.
Maybe the equivalent of some kid back in the day playing baseball and having Babe Ruth appear out of nowhere and asking whether he could take a few swings with his bat! I still have that putter..
and a very cool memory of that incident.

that's a great memory to share, johnny was always one of my favorites. i have always watched his lessons on tape and dvd, it seems that he likes to help fellow golfers.

@@steveperry1344 Thank you. Glad you enjoyed that! I live near a golf course and practice my putting very regularly. Because it's been a good one for me..I still use that same putter I handed to Johnny that day in the 90's. Sometimes people notice my old putter.. & have questions about it.. so I hand it over and let them take some putts with it. Invariably while they're putting.. I can't help but mention that Johnny Miller once took some putts with it too. People always get a kick out of that.
Johnny is certainly a swing mechanics etc. expert..& does seem to have a helpful attitude towards fellow golfers from what I have seen on TV . At the time of my encounter with Johnny..I was training/playing full-time. (The tip on the shoe of my right foot had a hole worn through the leather from pounding more than 300 balls a day at the range..& playing a round of golf everyday :) I never told Johnny that I was an aspiring golfer with goals.. but he must have picked up on it.. because the last words he said to me were offering his best wishes with my training. I thought that was real nice of him. Thank you for the comment.. Wish you the best with your golf game!

A number of years ago Johnny was doing a clinic at a course near me. After the clinic we all started heading to the clubhouse. He walked off the grass onto the cart path and I caught up with him.
From his telecasts I knew he was left eye dominant as I am. I asked him what he did to line up putts better and he gave me about a 10 minute lesson on how he putts, Was a great day and he is a great guy!

Lol dude so what did he tell you. I’m left eye dominant

@@JamesR23 Just saw this. I had told him I putt shorter putts better left handed. He said that is because you are looking down the target line better with your left eye. So, he said what helped him was get set more with his head a bit down so he could look down the target line better with his left eye. Hope I explained it. Basically getting your left eye in a better position to see down the target line better.

Mr Miller I'd just like to say I watched you 63 in the open the other day and what story from your piont of view and your wife's, outstanding day, the drive you hit on 18 is probably the best driver swing I've ever seen in golf, just incredible, the whole swing especially the follow thru , man never seen anything like it, talk about putting power into a drive is an understatement!! congratulations on one of the best comebacks in history, with the US open record with a 63!!! love you content on the course and in the booth!!

It doesn’t get any better than this ! Lanny Watkins once said of Johnny Miller : “ he knows where his club is at every point of the swing , but what’s important ( laughing ) are all these positions that people try to get in “ !
