Love your videos, been following you guys for about a year. Like you two , my husband and I love to eat and we've done a couple of long term Mexico vacations. We'd like to see a video on what you cook at home in Mexico during an average week and the cost. Viva Mexico, our happy place. Salud😊

Thanks for the kind words! It's so interesting that you make that request because we were talking this morning about making a video about that! Stay tuned! Did you guys make food at home in Mexico when you were traveling?

@@HeGoesSheGoes No Lindsay, I haven't shared any tips on line but I can tell you some of the things that worked for us. I like to cook, the kitchen is my other happy place so a lot of the recipes I cook in Mexico are ones I would do at home anyway. When we were in Progreso for several weeks, we would walk the beach early every morning and catch the fishermen coming in with their morning haul. They were very happy to sell me some fresh fish and they even clean it and filet for me. YUMM. I loved going to the fresh fruit and veggie markets around town and we would do this a few times a week. In Akumal we would cross the highway and hit the fruit and veg stalls set up along the street and then go to the carniceria for fresh ground meat and chicken. We usually would decide what our menu for the next few days would be and shop accordingly. Jambalaya with chorizo, chicken and shrimp was a favourite. Ready cooked rotisserie chickens from the supermarket were always a good idea. Its the gift that keeps on giving. Have it for dinner one night and then use the leftover meat to make chicken lime soup or add it to a nice big salad for extra protein. Pasta is another easy one and a good choice for us, my hubby is Italian. Fried bell peppers and potatoes is another easy one, just quarter your potatoes and slice them, fry them in some oil till they start to brown and then cut up a few peppers to the pan, some seasoning and fry till the peppers are cooked the way you like them. I like a little bite to the peppers, not too soft. We tried to find a good balance of eating out/ cooking in. We have never been to Puerto Vallarta but it looks beautiful and we'd like to go there some time. Keep on making your awesome videos. Love the relaxed vibe you guys send out. Disfruta de la buena vida en Mexico.

@@helenpetrolo5011 This is amazing! And so helpful. These are great ideas that we will definitely look to try out. We have yet to be as ambitious as you are/were so this is super inspiring for us. So far, we've stuck to eggs, beans, soup, pasta, rice, and sandwiches (yogurt and fruit in the mornings). So nothing too outrageous. We're hoping to raise our shopping and kitchen skills a notch! We're in Guadalajara now (the videos lag behind our real-time travels a bit), but it's beautiful here. We're settling into our neighbourhood and are keeping an eye out for markets. It sounds like you guys have had some great adventures in Mexico!

Love your videos and used a bunch of your tips for Honolulu last month! Curious - what do you use for equipment or to edit the audio? When you spoke at Barra 322, there was basically no background music or noise and that would be the first bar in Mexico to not have really loud music playing lol. Would you ever do a BTS video on this stuff? (Planning the video, equipment, editing - would LOVE to see this!)

Hey Christine, thanks for watching and for the nice words! For most of our shots we use a Canon R8 (especially good for indoor, low light) or a GoPro 11 when we want to capture that 'walking around' vibe. We try hard not to let capturing video interfere with our experience, so we don't go crazy getting 'the shot'. For editing, we use Final Cut Pro which has a built-in Voice Isolation tool that does a pretty good job of weeding out background noises. Not entirely, but enough to bring out our voices in loud environments. Hope that helps! And yes, we have considered doing a travel gear video in the new year. Thanks for the encouragement!

@@HeGoesSheGoes thanks! I appreciate the transparency. Will definitely check out Final Cut Pro. Will you also be doing a video with your travel plans for 2024? You seem to hit the places we go about 2 months ahead of us - love seeing your recommendations!

@@HeGoesSheGoes probably Puerto Vallarta or Cabo although I am excited about the new Dreams opening in Mazatlan in April. Doing a Canary Islands cruise in September but otherwise we are like you, with nothing concrete lined up for this year.
