The Harris campaign was afraid to let Harris be herself or appear in a non-controlled media appearance. You interpret that as being reserved. I see it as them recognizing that she couldn't handle it. Her rambling nonsense scared them. That's why a Rogan appearance would have been terrible for her. A 3 hour show where she has to express herself is a bad situation for Harris.

Elephant in the room? We lost centre ground over some trans issues. Mindless support for trans men in women's sport for example. Rightly or wrongly, these sorts of issues allowed the right to paint the Dems as radical lefties. Ignoring stuff like that in any debate going forward is putting your head in the sand. Similarly with immigration. It is NOT controversial to want to keep women's sport for women or to have a controlled border. When we label people as anti trans or racist for the above, we lose and worse, we desensitise people to the point where they say, well, if I am going to get labelled anti trans and racist, I might as well vote Trump. Some soul searching please guys. Take at least SOME of the responsibility here
Perceived economy was the major factor in people's decision voting for Trump. Even among Trump voters the focus on transgender stuff and their talk about is seen as overblown and cruel. I know you wish to throw these people under the bus and next time you'll say the same thing about gay marriage and the restoration of "sodomy" laws. But what you are advocating is something the Democratic Party does too much already, allowing the right wing to determine the focus and view of a subject.
hmm, you make some good points. I'm frustrated by the American electorate. If anyone seriously voted Trump to protect the sanctity of women's sports that's just sad. Or if they think Biden's border bill wasn't "secure" enough, I'd be curious what they think it left out. What I'm getting at is - I think the Democrats aren't losing on policy, even on these two issues. But they're certainly losing on messaging. Part of it has to do with the Democrats, for sure. But I can't shake the feeling that another part of it has to do with the widespread ignorance of the average voter, and the misinformation they are doused in.
Dude, Trump was one of Epsteins best friends and a sexual perpetrator. Are you taking responsibility for voting for an admitted rapist or are you celebrating it?
studies on polling suggest that indeed the transgender stuff ranks dead last on importance among voters in swing states. Economy wins first place, followed by democracy. Other stuff that matters is immigration but that is a distant third, and by the time you get to foreign policy it's considered a edge issue. LGBT and trans stuff barely register. Also the discussion on trans sports is more on trans women in sports playing on womens sports, yes there were discussions on trans men but they were never the focus.
Harris went on Call Her Daddy. Trump went on Rogan. Harris' appearance on Call Her Daddy was a premature victory lap: there were no votes to be gained there. She subjected Rogan to terms for appearance when she should have jumped at the chance to reach out to millions of voters and non-voters, including women listening next to their boyfriends and husbands to see their reactions. She didn't even try and demanded that Rogan come to her, despite the fact that she went to Call Her Daddy. She refused to courageously walk into the lion's den and instead ridiculed Trump for small crowd sizes. We criticized Trump for the same behavior. Aren't we better? If you alienate the working class you will lose the election. We lost the working class when women chose the bear and their safe spaces over being challenged, the Call Her Daddy/Rogan saga is proof. The working class includes every draft registered male who has to go off to war to die to protect at the threat of prison, not to mention the police, fire, security, military, and medical personnel that protect us every day, as well as the workers who build this nation every day and come home to support and protect their families. You forgot about them and shamed them. When you forget the foundation of the Left is Marxism, then you have lost the narrative. Harris ran her campaign like an overconfident brat. In fact, remember: Kamala is Brat? Instead we went into November 5th trying to defend female promiscuity over paychecks and prices. The electorate decided. They even enshrined abortion rights in red states. What does that tell you? That is why we lost.
While some of that is true, you forget that the democrats actually do bring in some worker protections, unlike Trump and the republicans. You also forget the fact that while its true they didn't 'cater to workers', those people actually fell for being pandered to by one of the most odious human beings even in politics.
I still think it was more based on vibes than actual policies. Like, what policies did Trump actually put forth to address inflation? Just the mere fact that he was out there talking about an issue that people cared about was enough. He didn't actually need anything concrete if Harris' strategy was "I won't do anything different than Biden". Shit sucks under Biden. People want things to change.I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
@nimrodery she is on record encouraging people donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF). I believe it was June 2020 she tweeted it out. Bailing out those who rioted and damaged businesses is exactly what she encouraged. Sorry the truth bothers you. You may be in a cult.

The economy followed by concern over democracy is what determined this election. Even worries over immigration are a distant third. Other stuff like wokeness or lack thereof, palestine vs israel, science funding, space exploration and climate change matter far less to the average swing state voters
Well socialists did great across Europe after WW2, seems right wing policies breed contempt of right wing politicians. Maybe that's why Republicans are so big on "state rights," nobody wants to be seen enacting bad policy nationally.
If people want to know why the American people voted for Trump it'd be a great idea for "journalists" to forget about discussing it in their comfortable studios amongst themselves, from which they will learn nothing, and actually go to the grotty parts of America that voted for him and ask the great unwashed there why they did so.
Their motivations aren't surprising, I've talked to them many times. Mention Gaza for example and you'll find out how they don't support Ukraine or any US involved wars but Gaza policy is either good the way it is, or could be more hardline (this is a problem with both liberals and conservatives, these opinions represented two thirds of voters).

When has strong border been a Dem policy? At least none that was advertised...
It has always been. Dems and Republicans agree on most issues that matter to them, certain issues can be used to divide Americans because they don't affect rich people (for example access to abortion and reproductive services).
@nimrodery No, it has not always been. Dems have always been for non-demonization of immigrants and an effective immigration policy.

How did she lose on the border, when she had a right wing position on it? Unless you mean from the left, then yes.
Nah if the left didn't support Harris it was over Gaza, don't act like there was record voter turnout.
You forgot the racism and misogyny
While some of that is true, you forget that the democrats actually do bring in some worker protections, unlike Trump and the republicans. You also forget the fact that while its true they didn't 'cater to workers', those people actually fell for being pandered to by one of the most odious human beings even in politics.
Americans voted on Poicies not Emotions & Hollywood Acting!
Maybe the DNC will learn
I still think it was more based on vibes than actual policies. Like, what policies did Trump actually put forth to address inflation? Just the mere fact that he was out there talking about an issue that people cared about was enough. He didn't actually need anything concrete if Harris' strategy was "I won't do anything different than Biden". Shit sucks under Biden. People want things to change.I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
Those polices you voted for will make everything worse so be glad about that.
I think you mean "concepts of policies".

Their motivations aren't surprising, I've talked to them many times.
