  • We love feeding neighborhood birds, not so much neighborhood squirrels. The Squrrel Buster feeder- epicreviewguys.com/Squirrel-Bu... is great at keeping squirrels out of the bird seed. We have had the Squirrel Buster Mini and now upgrade to the Squirrel Buster Classic- which has a more spacious feeding area and twice the seed capacity. We show some attempts by squirrels to get at the seed in the feeder and also the variety of birds that come to visit our new Squirrel Buster Classic feeder the first day we put it up.

Txs so much for your review of the Squirrel Buster Classic!!! It made me decide to buy this feeder vs the Yankee Flipper which had been my fir$t choice. With my previous feeder the squirrels had "learned" to take a running jump, stick the landing and immediately do a reverse backflip off the feeder. The momentum of the backflip dismount would send the feeder spinning wildly, and scatter large amounts of seed. Then all the squirrels would eat at their leisure. Several reviews I read and watched on RUclips about the Yankee Flipper showed the exact same behavior - the squirrel would aim for the base, hang on and make it spin to scatter the seeds! Then feed off the ground. We currently have 6 squirrels and so far every Olympic gold medal gymnastic maneuver they've tried has failed. And the Squirrel Buster Classic was half the price of the Yankee Flipper, and didn't require battery recharging (hello?). Also I liked how the manufacturer stands behind the product and offers replacement parts! Yours is a review from 9 yrs ago, and the Brome Squirrel Buster "Classic" model is still exactly the same design, so I guess must be doing something right w/ this design. If you have 'smart' squirrels consider this model.

I had one of these feeders for years. The seed tube cracked and I sent an email to see if I could buy a part for it.
Within 2 hours I got an email saying they would send me parts for free. That’s great service!!

I may have to pick one of these up. I like squirrels, and I wouldn't mind if they actually ATE the food, but all my squirrels do is bury it. Then forget about it. Then I get weeds growing in the lawn where they planted all the bird food. I've been using safflower, since squirrels don't eat it. Now they eat the maple helicopter seeds, which is what they should be eating anyway.

What an amazing youtube video!! great quality. This is one of my faves. I have an old school birdhouse outside my window and there was a nest of three baby robins and about a week later they were all dead because of squirrels. One if their dead bodies was on my window sill. I was so sad. I will grab this product this week. Thinks parris! Love ya!!

Aww. Poor pigeon! My kids and I actually enjoy watching the squirrels eat from our bird feeders. They are pretty good little acrobats! We also have a squirrel feeder so they don't have to work so hard . Another great video as always.

Does this feeder keep blackbirds- ravens, crows, from destroying it while trying to get at the seed?

I am sold. As soon as I saw it close up for a Dove I was on board. Now don't get me wrong, Doves are fine. But here in the High Plains of Texas, we have a LOT of Dove. So many that they can easily empty a 4 lb feeder in less than an hour. They completely take a feeder over and won't stop until every bit of feed is gone. I've counted 30 Dove on my feeders and on the ground below at one time. I do put out some feed in a tray feeder for them, but they clean that out almost instantly. I have caged feeders for the little birds to eat undisturbed, but Jay's, Robins, and Mockingbirds don't stand a chance against the army of Doves.

IT BLOCKS THE DOVES!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!! I quit feeding the birds because the doves were such pests!!!!! Living at the base of the feeder and flapping feed off and flapping away every time I set foot out the door!! I’m getting this feeder today!!

Filling my Squirrel Buster Classic a real pain in the butt. The hanger cable/wire that it came with is too short and does not allow cap to be removed more than part way. Result is spilling birdseed as I try to fill it. I will have to make my own modifications in order to get it to fill more easily.

In NW Lower Michigan nearly all of our squirrels have gone "black squirrel" phase (the black phase was imported from GB about 80 years ago). They are the same species. Very few "fox" colored squirrels left these days.

I got the classic years ago. (eep! thirty bucks) Mostly bought because it seemed better built than all the crap in stores now.
Cool idea of the spring loading but the holes are too large/or inside seed deflectors inadequate because seed likes to run out some when pecked at.
    More black sunflower helps.
Squirrels just eat from the ground beneath along with the chipmunks.
~ Not all bulk feed is created equal (who buys straight sunflower?) Some are loaded with duff seeds birds don't like much..eaten last from the ground it seems. So research or not, some are cheaper for a reason.
lol, watch for big fugly spiders when opening. (-:

I have a 6 ft pole in my backyards with 4 different birdfeeders.I caught a squirrel on top of it one day and chased it away. I greased the pole with some Olive Oil and went back inside and waited. Sure enough one comes running and jumps on the pole - It was like Wiley Cyote. Scrambling then eventually just slid off. It was funny. Now, Why is birdfood so expensive? I get Cardinal's, BlueJay's, Black Capped Chickadee's. Doves and others and they eat it all up so fadt.

Does this or any other Brome bird feeder have a "real glass" see-thru portion or are they all made of clear plastic? Looking for a "chew-proof" all metal and real glass feeder that is squirrel-proof? Thanks for the nifty video review. ~oO( ;) )Oo~

Birds need a good seed MIX, not just sunflower seeds!! I'd love a couple of these....but they are SO expensive. I suppose it saves money spent on seed eaten by squirrels, over time. I think they do a LARGE one of these too.

    • @matthewhorsepool7948

The Pigeon is a bigger bird so therefore can survive for longer then a tiny bird which needs food more regularly so this is excellent for the little birds, and oh yeah, I hope you are a millionaire because the money you will be spending to feed 'any animal' will be extortionate!

    • @Teddibere1

That would be fine IF you had just ONE squirrel, or ONE Dove or Pigeon. When you've got a few visiting, it would cost you a FORTUNE in time and money filling the feeders. Squirrels and large birds can eat SO MUCH compared to the small birds.

$2.33 per day for the gourmet stuff, but I could go a lot cheaper than that. I could make a 40 lbs bag of Wagner's last for 4 months at an average cost of $0.23 per day. Oh, by the way, did you know that approximately 41 million people in the U.S. are experiencing hunger?
