I’m so happy Mark said “I’m proud of you” at the end. I so want to tell this man the same thing. A man who never had a male role model really needs to hear that! I can’t imagine how hard it was to kick drugs when he was surrounded by them every day. Amazing strength.

The fact that he has thrived after living the "cruddy life" for years is ignored, but his felony will always define him in so many situations in life. Bet he can't coach a HS sport, for example.
I have been through it myself. Lost family, friends, and jobs over just a label. That's their problem, not mine. It is a life brand. He is someone who deserves respect and opportunities.

congratulations Tony. Very very happy for you. They say people, places, and things, we need to stay away from, I hope if you , always put your sobriety first Tony, whether that means you need to move away from people using, or if you start craving badly , you go to a meeting. You have the choice of both recovery groups. Its time for you to enjoy life, get back with your sons, when you are strong enough to do it. Tony, time takes time, you will continue to change your thoughts on things. I am so proud of you. It really gives you a whole new life, being clean and sober . Most drunks die drunk. Sobriety is for people who want it, it don't work for all the people like us they need it Tony, most people don't know that more drunks die in withdraw then drug addicts . We are truly gifted to not have to suffer, any more. I am so very sorry for your lose. My niece, suffered with depression and she thought drinking would numb her pain, instead, she took her life. Please remember your not alone, and don't ever have to be alone again. Wishing you a long , good sober life. Your worth it.

The contrast is striking. One can feel that he has learned from his past and has a healthy view on what truly matters in this one “precious life,” in his words.
