    Dearest Kara,
    I'm sorry that last week was difficult for you. I did miss your posts and videos greatly, but I am happy that you were able to take some time for yourself and sort of recharge and regroup. I just wanted to thank you for making these videos, creating your channel, your blog, and your tribe. I know it may seem silly, but even on my worst days (I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, which gets worse around fall/winter time), I know I can always come to your channel, re-watch the videos I've seen hundreds of times, and escape my own head for a while. Your videos are so calming, uplifting, and inspiring. Thank you for introducing me to the way of thinking Ryder Carroll invented. Because of you, I found what I think had been missing from my life for quite some time. I absolutely love my bullet journal. I find that it also helps ease the symptoms of my mental illnesses, and gives me something creative and fun to focus on. I appreciate what you do so much, and I cannot thank you enough for always being such an amazing source of light and positivity. You are truly amazing, and I can't wait to see your channel and tribe grow more and more. Thank you again for all that you do.
    Love, Austyn, one of the tribe.

    I love how even though you've transitioned into a different notebook style, its still unmistakably yours.

    Since you're using sections and repeating page numbers, you might consider a page numbering system that also uses a letter so travel would be T1 - T3, for example. That way, when you remove sheets, you will still have a way to keep them straight.

    • @a.c.taylor9970
      @a.c.taylor9970 8 лет назад +3

      I was thinking the *exact* same thing. A letter/number indexing system would help prevent confusion should the pages ever spill out and/or grouping them later for archives.

    A usual, full of little gems :-)
    Little idea:
    For your project section, I saw you were numbering all the pages.
    So for example, you have project 2 pages 3-4, and project 3 pages 5-6.
    What if you need to add a new page of notes after, your second project? It would be nice for it to be placed just after page 3-4, but you cna't number them 5-6 as it's already taken.
    I think, i would number the pages of each project using a tag for the project. Ex, for project 2: pages [P2]-1, [P2]-2 and for project 3, pages [P3]-1, [P3]-2.
    So at the beginning, [P3]-1and [P3]-2 comes right after [P2]-1 and [P2]-2, but if you add a new page to Project 2, then you can put it just after [P2]-2 and number them [P2]-3, [P2]-4!
    Wouldn't it be more easy ?

    I love the idea of the monthly bookmark dividers. I have a couple of bookmarks like that, but didn't think to make one for each month. I'm def loving your projects section and thinking of incorporating that into my makeshift bujo. I created a bujo section in my happy planner and have tried out a few pages so far.

    I've been thinking about trying out a ring system as well, but hesitate to shell out a bunch of money for something I'm not sure I'll like. please post an after-November video to show the end result and your feelings about the process.

    Once you adjust to the rings, I think you'll like it. I used to use a Daytimer (a loooooong time before BuJos), and I really liked being able to move things around between sections. That's the one gripe I have about bound journals! With my LT1917, I use double-sided tape to cover spreads that I decide I don't like, and is quite effective, but my poor BuJo is getting too thick. I have plenty of paper to get me through the end of the year, but I'm not sure if the elastic band is going to hold up!

    I learned to love the bullet journal system through this channel but this video helped me look at the file o fax differently (previous impression of it was through the movie the 27 Dresses lol). Great video Kara, as usual. Your work is always inspiring. I'm curious, how much actual time did it take to create (and fill out) the pages for your Filofax? One advantage I can see to a ring system is that you can print your pages and add then in as you go. You will not have to redraw the framework of your pages again and again for each new month. It seems like this could save quite a bit of time.

    Thank you for all the inspiration!
    I just thought I'd share an idea I had with the "problem" of future planing. As a student and a traveller I tend to plan things several months ahead. I've been googling for soulutions the last couple of days and decided on the calendex but with a minor tweek. Instead of jotting down the plans on whatever page I'm on, I've added a "Forward" list to my monthly lists. My hope is that I get the freedom of space that the calendex system gives combined with the a bit more collected, original future log system.
    Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes, english isn't my first language and I'm starving with huger at the moment ;)

    Great idea to use a FOF and I love the colour of it. I've done something similar with an ARC bound notebook and it is great that I can keep just the pages I need with me, and archive anything finished with if I don't need it day-to-day. I thought perhaps an alcohol based baby wipe might get the gold letters off the cover for you.

    I love it Kara! I am also switching to a binder system in November. I wanted to give it a couple of months try before the start of the new year to be sure I like it. I'm keeping my collections for 2017 in a Rhodia though. I made a little video about that decision, it's just that I would prefer to keep my collections long term and don't care to keep my scheduling. The colour of that Filofax is just awesome eye candy to me! :D It's my favourite colour!!! What I'm puzzled about is, what happens when your Filofax gets full and you have to take out some pages, file them away in storage, and then replace with new blank pages. How would the page numbering and indexing work? Will your pagination just continue in perpetuity and would you just keep adding more pages to your indexes too?

    Thanks for addicting me to bujos😀 after only three weeks of reading your blog and watching your videos... Honestly the best thing happening lately. Considering the rub off in your Filofax... I for myself use an alcohol based cleaning agent or something to sanitatize which is basically the same to get of those stains. As long as the surface is non porous it should get rid of the stain. If worse comes to worse try Hairspray. That stuff has so many solving agents it's a miracle it doesn't eat it's bottle away. 😉. Best wishes

    Hi Kara. Was wondering how do you hole punch your pages? I have done the Goulet blog post version of using the one hole punch but i found that to be pretty time consuming and tiring. Alternatively using a two hole punch seems to work but having to eyeball it tends to give a fairly uneven column of holes. thanks! Steph

    Not gonna lie, my greatest fear are these pages ripping at the hole punch. I am so hard on any journal that I use, so I know for sure this would happen for me. Even my Miquelrius is coming undone at the spine and I'm not even a third of the way through.
    But you are so right about being able to split up sections in these formats. That's one of the biggest things that bugs me about my current journal. I've stayed with the Bullet Journal since April 2016. Debating on using TUL or ARC discbound system for my next specifically for section categories.

    I've been a long-time Franklin Covey user but have floundered for the past five or six years and was thinking about giving the bullet journal a try. I'm not a fan of bound books but I might be able to do something like this.

      @Bohoberryshop  8 лет назад

      Hi Patty! I still use several elements of GTD. It's most obvious on my weekly spread where I have a section for current projects, horizon (upcoming projects), weekly brain dump, and my waiting on list. My project planning section houses my next action steps on major projects that I'm working on. I still keep my GTD notebook with my complete list of projects updated regularly :)

    Beautiful!!! You might try some rubbing alcohol to remove the ink that transferred. Good luck!!

    In your video, you have the spread "Mantras and Affirmations" and the next spread is "November Gratitude" log. You said you weren't sure if "Gratitude" was going to stay there. How do you plan to move things around as you change your mind? Copy pages to separate the fronts and backs? Or ignore it and make next month's spread in the new section? Or another way?
    I'm new to the system as well so I've changed my mind a few times about how to categorize spreads and I am curious how you plan to handle this dilemma.

    The idea of a filofax bullet journal combination seems to work but in my opinion it also seems to loose his charme because of the rings and so on. what I love when I saw bullet journals are those beautiful notebooks which when you open it gives you a pretty art view of a person and I like to have everything in a little book. But it's a personal choice for every one and it's so exiting to see your journey with that. I hope it works for you. Also a thing I like on notebooks are that you don't have those kind of loose papers which you can lost and that it's not so big and heavy like a filofax. on the other side filofax got that great opportunity for making a register. But the idea of a bullet journal is to give your daily thoughts and plans a great structure like they come to your mind. And this is so fascinating. being free to plan. And I thought in the end filofax also brings you to follow a same line with those register. Anyway we are all different and that's so great and beautiful! amazing video and thank you so much for that inspirations! love it!

    Are you going to be using a tracker for things as you have in the past in this new journal? Or did I miss it when you were talking about the different sections.
    I've been catching up on this whole bullet journal world. I have always done a journal/bullet type system throughout my life, but you have inspired some great and new changes for me to jump into this coming month. So thanks.

    Thank you for this video I have actually changed up a few things in my up coming ring journal based off your ideas and experiences. One question I have is on your dot grid paper you plan on having in the shop. will it be a printout or an actual pack of preprinted papers?

    Hi Kara, I'm intrigued to see how this works for you, particularly as it was you who inspired me to start using a bound Leuchtturm journal! What paper are you using for the pages to avoid bleeding... Is the Filofax paper ok with your usual pens! Good luck and thanks, Mike

    • @Bohoberryshop
      @Bohoberryshop  8 лет назад

      I found the Filofax paper to be OK, just not for my fountain pens.
      I'm using an A5 Goulet Notebook that I deconstructed and hole punched. You can find directions here: blog.gouletpens.com/2016/07/how-to-turn-your-filofax-into-bullet.html :)

      Boho Berry Thanks Kara. I will continue with Leachtturm for now, particularly as I've just ordered a new one, and some more Tombow pens (a great recommendation!) I'll watch your progress with much interest. I've used various A5 loose leaf ring binder planners in the past. The rings really annoyed me when writing so I moved to the Buzan A4 Universal Organiser when I was employed and my employer would pay! As all our work paper was A4 that worked well at work (UK). Bullet journaling with a bound volume and returning to fountain pens alongside all the colour options has been a revelation to me! Best regards, Mike

    I'm loving watching your videos so far! Thanks for sharing - just wanted to offer a suggestion for the transfer in the front of your journal. Have you tried a magic eraser sponge? Works amazing on so many things around the home.

    Where did you find just the filofax binder and then the dotted paper? I love this new set up!!!

      The Filofax came with weekly inserts from Goulet Pens. The paper is also Goulet... it's their A5 Goulet Notebook that I broke down and hole punched :)

    A little gentle nail polish remover may get rid of that transfer on the front cover!

    Love the set up. You've inspired me to try a binder type bullet journal as well. Where did you get your inserts that you already set up? I know you mentioned you printed the ones at the end of the journal. Thanks!

    Love this! It's given me so many ideas. What hole puncher do you have for the Filofax? Will you offer that same paper in a disc bound style in your store?

    • @Bohoberryshop
      @Bohoberryshop  8 лет назад +2

      Here's the punch that I use: amzn.to/2dCm9nB (that's an affiliate link). As far as the paper, I plan to offer it either hole punched or plain so that you can punch it to fit your particular brand of planner/notebook :)

    Lovely video.
    Sadly I don't see myself ever using a Filofax. I would go crazy with the rings in the way. ;w;

      I unterstand you well. They look so nice and shiny. :) I wish there would be a love child between Leuchtturm, Filofax and Hobonichi. Combining everything that is good about them.

    Hi Kara! I'm not sure if I missed this video or misunderstood, but a couple weeks ago, you introduced us to the "Your Best Year 2017" workbook and mentioned that you'd be releasing a video updating us how you planned during your planning weekend, what resources you used, etc. Did I hear this incorrectly or is there a video already out that I missed on this topic? Thank you and I hope to hear from you!

      You didn't miss it! I had some personal stuff come up last week so I didn't get around to filming it yet. It's still coming, just might be a couple of weeks before it's out :)
