31 mph on a mini minibike is still terrifying

Mine is a 19 year old x7 supposed to go 50 so far I've only had it to 35 but I needed to do some replacements since it was a storage locker find and had sat for at least 15 years but it still ran on the old gas og plug with all stock elements so far I've given it a chain and a battery and fuel filters to get it running but Tuesday it gets it's new performance carb a ngk spark plug and gas cap cause the old one broke trying to get it off with vice grips I plan to post the top speed run since it seems people have a lot of curiosity when it comes to pocket bikes

I received a Zoom Q40 and finally had time to troubleshoot and fire up my Q40. The previous 2 owners said they could not get it started, but I did after an hour. Schematics needed to see how it was wired.

There's still tons of mods you can do to that engine, lightened flywheel, larger jet, opening exhaust port with dremel, head/piston porting, boost bottle carb port, 7T front pinion, taller or shorter rear sprocket, e3 spark plug and some, it can do 50mph if you know what you're doing, believe me, my buddy had his doing 61mph lol.

I did a bore kit on my old dirt bike carb clutch and carbon Reed i heated up the reed stop and bent both fins about 1-2mm made a big difference
I have a mini bike with a gx200 Honda and I really like how you always restore all your pocket bike and make them nicer and faster

Change your gear ratio, you've clearly achieved your max engine RPM with no problem, sounds like you've got plenty of torque to change gearing I would do that before you waste your time with anything other than that exhaust issue, have fun! Be safe!

Without porting and kits standard well tuned (right size jet) and good ignition some of the cheap China minibike should be able to do 30mph easy . At least two I had.
Fully upgraded with the big bore kit, ported crankcase, lighter flywheel and different crank and bigger carb (15mm) mine does 42. A better exhaust could bring some more. But don’t really need more 😅 it’s more than enough as it is and pulls like a train. Also have a clutch with heavier springs. The trick is to get your tune right, as lean as possible. Just don’t run them real hot. They will seize. Everything shakes of of them or tears😂 so much vibrations on these engines.
Those light bars are sweet, I bet one above the hitch on a truck would be a life saver.

The water cooled Blata engines are the ones that are very quick but this Blata 2.5 was the air cooled version so we will see.

I had the water cooled 1 and its way quicker and faster. Scary litrle things for been a 39cc

If your muffler was already bad/ falling off before this experiment that takes away about 2-4 mph off the top speed on these bikes. It's most likely a 35mpg bike with a good exhaust and Mabey some carb tuning sounds like it wasn't reving high enough which could be it is to rich (more fuel and not enough air ) .. also try golden spectro 2 stroke oil , 100% improves performance on 2 stroke bikes used this back in the day on my Yamaha blaster

You’ve inspired me to do so much to my picket bikes, and that light would be sooooo awesome on my new build! Maybe the stock pipe broke because you were pushing too much air through it with that performance engine! She couldn't handle the power!
Haha thats what I'm saying! I agree it runs better than what I remember way back in the day with my first bike that was stock.
What clutch pad are you using?
Have you tried making the rear wheel star smaller?
Is it a 66t sprocket on the back wheel how many teeth on clutch and wheel sprocket

I had a 49cc engine and I got a stock cylinder and Piston but the stock ones don't have a window in the Piston like yours did

higher compression and porting will help that top end if your arm isnt hurting to pull start it then its not high enough
49cc 2 stroke, 5.5:1 transmission reduction, 20t front 44t rear sprocket. 170lbs@ 31mph. Flat land.

I have same engine on lil pit bike top speed I’ve done was 35 mph tops I have done big bore 44 mm kit ported the intake rough it up a lil polish exhaust , shaved the head by a lil for more compression ,carbon fiber reed Walbro butterfly carburetor, copper gasket Vpower Ngk spark plug Gear ratio front 20T back 54T Really good for mid and top speed gear ratio You would really be surprised how much power you can get out these lil engines With some time and money and good dremel lol

also you need a 7 tooth front sprocket and a smaller rear sprocket, i used to have a few of these exact bikes about 18 years ago.... the thing that spins me out is the fact that all these mods were available when i rode them.... no improvements over this time in performance parts
Try some front sprocket upgrades. Ive gone over 35 on stock engine by just changing sprockets

Yea I just googled 49cc ignition and it pulls up the standard ones. You’ll have to order online for that part

I cut the muffler off of my pipe it didn't run any different I think you could still use it

The exact same thing happened to my pocket bike exhaust pipe. I'll have to weld and reinforce it.

This bike looks and sounds like it could "stretch its legs" a little further. I don't think 50 mph is off the table.

Hey Dylon, what I did to go faster on my custom scooter with the 49cc pocket bike engine is mix 2L of racing fuel with 3L of normal fuel and it went blazing fast now I want to try 3L racing fuel and 2L normal I hope the engine won't blow up😂😂 cause I crazy for speed, wy not give it a try your self😉
