Another cracking video. How about a follow up on the Newport Stadium and complete the Newport story?

Thanks for watching. I could probably do a RUclips short about it as there isn't much information to do a full video.

Went there in 19-Aug-1970 following Reading in Div 3. Newport won 2-1 in a League Cup match which was there only win in the first half the league season. Their first win in the league that season (Div 4) was on 15-Jan-1971against Southend 3-0. Newport eventually finished third from bottom but were re-elected to the league.

I think around the same time Bradford Park Avenue got voted out of the football league.

The first match I ever attended was at Somerton Park. My dad took me there in August 1972 v. Chester City - final score 3-2 to Newport. I remember Newport missing a penalty, being given a retake for some infringement, then missing that as well. Also went to speedway at this stadium a few times.

Great video thanks. Workington AFC played their final league game here in May 1977 before failing to gain reelection to the football league.

I remember going there in 1982 for what was almost certain to be Bristol City's last ever game. It was a very sombre 0-0 draw. Within 48 hours, eight of the top earning players, some still on first division contracts, ripped up their contracts to save the club at the eleventh hour.

I do remember reading about that vaguely. I am pretty sure Peter who follows this channel will add more to the story.

I never went there, but I went to a County Championship cricket match between Glamorgan C.C. & Gloucs. at Spytty Park (where the Newport Stadium is) a few years back.
I've only seen us play Newport County at Rodney Parade, and I also attended my neice's 'Passing-Out Parade' there (she's a S. Wales Police Officer).
Newport has a transporter bridge, like the one near you in Middlesbrough.

Have you considered doing Redheugh Park, former home of Gateshead FC?

I could do that one, there appears to be enough information on it.

What about the shayman the stadium of the team from Halifax

Because they still play at The Shay, I probably cannot do it. I've been thinking about doing a video on my other channel about Thrum Hall which was home of Halifax (The Rugby League team) for about 130 years.

Forgot that it is the football that has changed named or been recreated some times
One funny fact that you mentioned both for Charlton and Bristol Rovers videos were the facts that if I remember correctly the fact that they shared stadium with speedway
