Your explanation of losing your gardening mojo is so accurate to what I get sometimes. I just wish I could pop out to the garden and do bits here but sometimes it takes so much energy to make myself go to the allotment and work, and sometimes I just look at everything that needs doing and I get overwhelmed. It's important to remember that an allotment doesn't have to be 'completed' it always in progress and sometimes there just isn't the time to do it all. I look at my Allotment neighbour and think why is his so much better but he's been at it over a decade and I think he's retired so has more time. Thanks for sharing so I know I'm not alone in these feelings 😊
Haha those don't look like small saucers to me! They're probably twice as high as the ones I have for my pots. Though I think my biggest pots still are a bit smaller than yours. And wow! Your tomato plants look awesome! I feel like mine haven't grown at all... Like I said. They are my carrots 🤪
Perfect timing i was just thinking about adding a liquid feed to my in ground Tomatoes so that watering tip is very handy. I haven't fed them before except for compost and the basic comfrey/nettle in water feed.
Those organic fertilisers are probably good too! I wasn't sure whether to talk about them in this one, didn't want it to run on too long and there's actually not much evidence behind them. But people swear by it and I think it's probably good. Nettles are higher in N and Comfrey is high in K (apparently)! I make nettle tea but no comfrey
Looked like you doing a 'David Attenborough ' down amongst all that lush foliage. I much prefer the new layout of all your peppers this year, they look so much more organised and healthy. Keep growing 👍
Nutrigrow is brilliant stuff. Last year I thought I'd start off the tomatoes in the Quadgrows with a popular liquid seaweed food to get things going and then switch to Nutrigrow. All was going well until the first hot day when the stench in the greenhouse was horrendous, it took me a while to figure out what was going on hahaha. Amazon actually sell gas masks. I checked. Happily things got back to normal pretty quickly and I still use the seafood fertiliser as it's a great feed, just not in the Quadgrows. Nutrigrow every time.
Great vlog once again JB, very clear and consise. I looked at the Nutrigrow when buying my quad grows and wondered if I should try it. I have always uses Tomorite or organic seaweed feed in my normal pots and grow bags fro tomatoes and other fruiting veg. It has always done ok in the past. Execept last year when blossom end rot was appalling on all my tomatoes. I did use seaweed feed last year and wonder if it was that maybe? I also this watering was so hit and miss with the extreme heat and drought last year and the compost I held onto a lot of water and the heat dried it out to a hard crust. I have addressed that this year with a better compost mix. I did not realise Seaweed feed was very Nitrogen heavy and that could explain why the leafs on my tomatoes are looking very lush currently as that is what I added to my autopot tank. May need to change that over when it needs refillling next time.
Seaweed is a great source of nitrogen but it is really balanced, so it's got a good amount of everything! But if you really want to boost yields it's good to reduce the N and increase the K around this time of year :)
Yes I get horrible fungus gnat infestations indoors. I find once they're in the greenhouse they don't last long though. I think bottom watering actually helps to prevent the fungus gnats as they really like the surface of the soil to be moist
Yes thankfully the grass pollen has dropped right down. Feeling so so much better! I've never had comfrey but have done nettle tea in the past. I didn't speak about it much in here as it was just a quick one. But also I've seen mixed evidence about the nutritional benefits of those homebrewed teas actually. There's a bit of a debate about it, and I must say the seaweed feed I've used has given miles better results than any nettle tea I've ever made. That could just be my user error though!
Pest wise, I always have a problem with rats. I’m next to a new build estate so they’re inevitably disturbing their homes and they’re everywhere. I’ve found some success with chilli powder. Sprinkle it on the surface of the soil and it tends to keep them from getting to my sweet peppers. I’m not the biggest fan of using store bought chilli powder, it’s cheap but I’m guessing has a large carbon footprint, but it is the lesser of many evils I think. If that helps anybody.
Pretty sure rats and mice can get through chicken wire. It’s amazing how small they can make themselves. My cat has just started catching some of the adolescent rats. But they are pretty big. She brings them into the house and drops them alive 😱. Thankfully one of the dogs is great at dealing with them then. Just another part of life in the garden.

hahahaha thanks Steve, every now and then I like to try to make something a little higher effort 😅
Hi JB, great video with lots of useful info on feeding your plants. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

make pvc tubes 1/2" into your soil to near the bottom and get feed in then use soda caps to cover tubes when finished, it just popped in me head lol

ooof that sounds rough. I don't think anything smells quite as bad as nettle tea though my god
Great video JB as I had no idea Seaweed was high Nitrogen. I’ve been using it on all my plants other than toms where i use specific Tom feed…mmm
Really interesting information on the seaweed feed! Thanks for sharing 🌱🙃
Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed
I feed all my squashes and courgettes Via bottle reservoirs, thanks for the info on feeding chilli's, I feel a lot more confident now. Jo Devon 🙂
Blood fish and bone the foxes love it, so will dig up anything out on the plot where you have used it. Great informative video JB ty .

Your plants look amazing! I have trouble with watering peppers and chilis from below - hundreds of fungus gnats

Gosh you are looking better - have the pollen levels dropped? Great informative video. Do you ever do nettle and comfrey feed?
