    The ave was the spot back in the 90s I remember riding with my peeps on the J line from Brooklyn. And we would hit that coliseum to get the fresh gear

    The Jamaica Ave i grew up with in the 70's - early 90's as a teen is sadly long gone.

    Thanks. I was born and grew up in Jamaica, Queens, NYC. It was the Shopping and Transportation Hub of Long Island, including Brooklyn and Queens, back then. As a kid, I will always remember the Jamaica Elevated Subway Line thundering, up, over Jamaica Avenue. Jamaica was soo very exciting then, with soo many stores, and movie theaters, etc.

      My best friend lived in a house near the Central Library. Used to be a cool place. There were shops that used to sell imported video games.

    Ever since retiring from DSNY and moving to DE, this is how I catch up on Queens. I do miss it! In a lot of ways. Lol! As a little kid I remember riding the Q9 from Rockaway and Lincoln St up there and when you went up under the LIRR it was VERY BUMPY!! You knew it was time to get off and catch the E train or shop on the AVE.

    Thanks for sharing. I left Jamaica since 1995. It turns to be another city. I guess a lot of gentrification in past decades. More tall buildings and all senaries are different. Subway station, Long Island railroad station, bus stop, side walk, shopping centers and all are different. Then I get aging...

    I had a 6 hour lay over at the JFK airport, I was able to visit Jamaica and it’s pretty nice.
    Great activities, convenient, and lower prices (Compared to the rest of New York) Thanks for the tour! Great video ❤️

    Thanks for the video! It really brought back great memories. The first time I visited this area, Guy Brewer was New York Boulevard lol. My father was down near the Baisley park area. In my memory it seems like if you had kept on Jamaica avenue in that direction you would have come into St Albans. Am I right anybody?

    Wow I haven’t been to Queens since I left NYC in 2006. I almost forgot you had to get the j train from Brooklyn then a dollar van to get to Rosedale. I remember having to ride all through Guy Brewer and Sutphin Ave. I’ll be visiting in June and I’m trying to remember how to get to the collesseum mall from Brooklyn. I’m also hoping the pizza spot I use to love on Jamaica Ave is still there. I don’t remember the name of it tho 🤦🏽‍♀️

    Man, New York has been doing a great job of keeping those trains clean...back in the late 70s and early 80s when I lived in NYC the Graffiti was so bad that you needed a chisel just to clean that mess...

    19:45-23:30, commercially not demographically 165th Street between Jamaica Avenue and 89th Avenue, reminds me of some ways of the pedestrianized High Street North in East Ham (London, England). High Street North, East Ham demographically the leading plurarlity group is South Asians (mainly Bangladeshis, Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans).

    AK. Please,please come back to Miami , Wednesday live stream from the Bronx and that area really scared me for your personal safety That group of thugs that got up in your face was very threatening. If you want to go to that side of the city, don't go alone. Take someone with you. I know you grew up in NYC but times have changed and the streets are mean. You are carrying very expensive equipment and folks are getting shot for a pair of sneakers. Someone's life is not important to them. So don't be a victim or a statistic.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  2 года назад +4

      Yes, I will come back to Miami when I'm ready. Thank you for your well wishes but I never felt unsafe in the Bronx that day. I'm very aware of my surroundings when I go out on the streets.

    Jamaica avenue looks congested stores crammed on top of each other how is the chipotle bigger than the target and how did they fit a target in that small space? panda express, taco Bell, McDonald's all on the same block? this is overwhelming to watch 🙂 who is eating this much unhealthy food? No smoothie stores gym nothing just garbage!
