Does the minor not sound minor because it's a Major 6th (Minor 3rd inverted)? It's beautiful, though. I never really considered swapping the minor 3rd with its inverted form (Major 6th). Nice! New door opened!

So, triads (major & minor) but dump the 5th?
So in a nutshell it's the root and thirds of the given diatonic scale, is that correct?
That's correct... It can be seen as 6ths :-)
