Just heard that Lee Hi and Katie Kim are going to do a collaboration stage for the next episode of Kpop Star. Really looking forward to it!
Lee Hi (Kpop Star Season 1) and Katie Kim (Season 4) both covered this song, but the versions are quite different. Lee Hi was doing a cover of the Fugees version (which is why there was a guy in the background saying random things). Katie Kim did her own interpretation of the Lori Lieberman original. So they were essentially singing different songs to a large extent.
I like both. Lee Hi has stronger, richer lower notes and Katie seems to have stronger high notes, so I'm guessing their harmonies will be quite good. I was thinking they are about the same age, but was surprised to find out that Katie is 3 years older than Lee Hi.
+Rolf Senmark I saw their Mama Do performance and ironically, I liked Hayi's performance with Cathy Young more. Their harmonies sound better than Hayi-Katie, especially on the climax of the song.
Hayi and Katie have similar tones but Hayi has more texture to her voice. I like Katie's voice though and I'm anticipating her debut.

agreed. she's just singing it blankly. This is an emotional song, and you can hardly tell if she's putting a lot of emotion in it. most of the time she's just standing there singing into the mic.

doesn't matter that she didn't win this competition. she got a unique voice, something different that could make sure she survive the very competitive kpop industry. i never got enough of her voice. plus she's pretty and with a very adorable character. lee hayi hwaiting!!
I guess there's always something that can be improved, no matter how good a person is. I was so enchanted by her smile and cute facial expressions that I didn't even notice the dancing aspect. And the singing was amaaazing, as usual with Lee Hi. The first time I heard it, the "one time..." voice part done by some guy seemed to distract from her singing. But I kind of tune that out now and really love her singing in this song.
You're trying way too hard to find something negative to say. Her breathing was very good. Her singing was very good. If not for the "one time, two time" guy in the background, this would have been absolutely perfect. It's no accident that in both of the song pairings in this final episode, the SBS tvpot showed both of Hi's songs as being the most popular in terms of views, likes and comments.

Yep. the producer of the show itself also just said that while jimin is a great singer, Hayi has the "it" factor that makes her a real star. he has also talked about hayi's charismatic stage presence and unique voice going as far as to say that even though Jimin won the final, that does not mean that jimin will be more successful than hayi in the future.

hayi has shown her versatility many times before in terms of performances. Go watch her last performance of U Go Girl where she actually had a whole dance routine incorporated in the song. or watch her As Times Goes By where she rapped half way into the song. Hayi is always trying something new and thats what i like about her
