it's only unique because it's so heavy and deep and dark and soulful but it's relaxing to finally have a mezzo soprano in kpop. she is one of very few mezzo soprano in kpop or in the world in general. most woman are sopranos and only a few are mezzo sopranos or altos.
yeah it's amazing cos when she tries to say something in english, she has such a strong korean accent she is almost incomprehensible... but once she starts singing she sounds SOOOO NATURAL!! i think it's one of her super talents as a born soul singer :)
Lee Hi has improved so much since this episode on Kpop Star and the recent one with.. Katie? I forgot the name of the girl who won the latest season. She sings the same song but it far more solid and powerful with Katie.

this was amazing! I thought Cathy was spectacular! I didnt like her vibrato as much, but her style is so jazzy and blues... too awesome and totally absent in KPOP. shouldve made it farther. :P But Lee Hayi is always awesome!
It seems that Cathy Young brought herself to be the main focus in this song, which I think is a shame. To me, Lee Hi clearly sings better. She should have been allowed more "solo" parts here :)

She's not a hater, and she knows more about singing than anyone in the competition. She has the training and technique, it's just that most people prefer voices like Hayi's. The whole show is based around the judges giving their opinions; just because she gave her opinion doesn't mean she's a hater. Plus, she enjoyed the performance. She just wasn't in love like YG and JYP were.

Finally someone that recognizes the difference! ("Her tone is attractive and DIFFERENT THAN A LOT OF SINGERS IN KOREA ATM") Im a fan of Taeyeon, and her technical skills are very obvioius. I understand that Taeyeon won singing competitions, but Taeyeon's raw voice, prior to professional training wasn't this good, at the age of 15. As Hayi continues to receive professional training, ill keep watching for Taeyeon's solo allbum to come out. After that, let's come back here and finish this debate...
i felt like their voices were like hot and cold :)♥ hayi-hot and cathy-cold. their voices just were two complete opposite sounds that came together and makes something so weirdly awesome and feels so oddly meshed :P i wish that one day they could do another duet, their voices are just amazing together♥!!
