When you're fighting other diablos with the intention to kill, the mechanic kinda locks you into "sparring" anyways. When I ran into a Diablo and attacked, it locked me into their side and started pushing them. Sparring can be used essentially however you need it to... Not just roleplay.
The part where you are explaining "scientific purposes" while proceeding to the baby diablo to just casually yeet it 30ft into the ocean, accompanied by its lil hurt squeal, only to get clapped by adult raptor right after it reaches shore again is more than enough to make a grown man hit the sub button. :D

sparring isn't supposed to be to kill... the point is just to practice fighting with your siblings or fight to impress mates
I mean you can use it to your advantage cause it gives you the ability to prevent the attackers from attacking behind you
