for real lol. like it's just that hard for blevins to say "these teams are pretty evenly matched when firing all cylinders." no one would argue against that, but not really seeing a convincing argument in favor of his point. credit to jolly who is always well-spoken, though.
Over half the Dodgers starting rotation is on the IL, plus the loss of Vesia hurts their bullpen. Freeman is playing on a bum ankle. Mets are absolutely the better team, on paper, for this series.
@@nikosr265 coming odd a victory against the padres who have an objectively better starting rotation, bullpen, and lineup than the Mets, I couldn’t disagree more
Part of the problem with the lads swinging at the knuckle curve was the ump claling a bunch of balls below the knees strikes. Makes it much harder to take
There were a few calls in Vientos but as a whole the Mets didn’t pitch well, had a HUGE base running Winker error, walked, and really no pitchers could locate. I’ve watched the game twice. LA never swang and missed, NY did swing and missed…a lot.
Dodger fan here, but follow the NY teams too. Definitely a huge game last night for the Dodgers. However, it’s not done and it won’t be easy. Moment is a huge factor and the Dodgers just eliminated their biggest rival so we’re riding high for now.
Game 2 will definitely set the tone for what will come next. Some questions people will have: 1) Will the Dodgers let off the gas knowing they're up and feel confident after defeating the Padres? 2) Will the Mets get down on themselves and lose their way before going home? Lots of potential narratives here.
7 game series is possible. Mets need to start hitting, but can we be honest? Why is Senga on this roster? Mets got here without him, and he is NOT ready. Ride your starters that you used for the whole year. Manaea, Sevy, Quintana, Peterson, and even MeGill. Use what was winning.
Peterson was our best starter, put him back to the rotation and so he can go back to throwing 6 innings, stop playing games. Of his last 11 starts, he went at least 6 innings 7 times. 5 of them going at last 7 innings..
@@tpak819 What happened in this game doesn't change the fact that Peterson should have been the starter. Peterson has pitched in about 25 games and 135 innings counting the Postseason, while Senga has pitched 3 times for about 5 innings. I'd rather let Peterson start, and if he struggles at least the best option was out there.
Hardest part about watching the broadcast was how loud the speakers were in the stadium, and how the announcer was glazing Shohei every chance he could. They couldn't go a single at-bat without cutting to Shohei sitting on the bench or taking a lead-off. "Shohei up in 8 batters!"
There is some legit copium going on in this video: "Flaherty's line looked better than he showed me" - he legit tunneled and made the hitters look bad "What? Peterson was getting hit." - the dodgers were the #2 offense in all of baseball, how is this "surprising" ? There's some serious lack of understanding what the dodgers are capable of
im not a fan of the Dodgers or the Mets, but I'm a fan of baseball. a lot of the points he was making against the Dodgers were making me scratch my head. It was copium imo
I'm with you halfway. This is a Mets pod, so there's definitely going to be some coping to get through a loss like Game 1. Some Mets fans are probably trying to balance their hopes and being prepared for a downfall. It's a tricky mental position to be in, to be hopeful but worried. I agree with you that Flaherty did well. I'm not sure why some fans are underestimating him. He was clearly pumped to perform and he made some decent pitches. The man did well, so you just got to tip your cap to him. Peterson has been solid lately. I think some baseball fans can feel like a rising stock will last forever. This is a game of mistakes, so the hot hand eventually will cool off.
Is it makes anyone feel better. 1986 mets lost the first nlcs game. The 2015 mets won the first nlcs game. And who won the world series? Its just game 1. They will redeem themselves
Only game 1 I had one no way to watch this one in EU last night and with an extremely early start unfortunately hoping the guys do better and take one tonight I believe in em
yea it's real bad. they can take whatever momentum they had from beating philly, turn it sideways, shine it up, and shove it up their ass. i want a sweep plus all 4 games shutouts.
lose 9-0 ....."I still believe the Mets are the better team". Mets didn't win the division ...was 11 games under .500 at one point ....make the playoffs on the last day of the season. With your logic, Jack Flaherty must be the best pitcher in baseball.
Game 2 is going to be great. The Dodgers are playing really well after the Padres. They seem to be playing with a chip in their shoulder this post season. The Dodgers pitching has been under estimated a lot but there are a lot of veteran guys in the bullpen and a lot of them have been together for a while now.
You should put some respect on Jack’s name. He walked your whole squad down last night. LA is familiar with Manaea and Quintana from SD and Anaheim respectively. Braiser is opening today. Nice to be playing a team I actually respect tho.. there’s A LOT more baseball left. Gonna be a fun series! LFG!
I think at this point we might as well expect him to chase at least one of those pitches a game. I will say that I've noticed him trying to lay off some stuff a bit more than he did.
How do you short the bullpen in a 7 game series and then begin with an opener, plus extra innings could be long (due to no ghost runner), in the post-season?
SHOHEI OHTANI is going to normalize Manaea and own the Mets like he has all season long. He has a .361 average against Mets this season and his bat is just waking up from the Padres series.
I don’t think we can start Peterson next time around. I feel he’s more valuable out of the pen to face Ohtani and Freddy basically every game when the starter comes out
This Dodgers team has to be the most injury plagued team in the history of the LCS. Yamamoto can only pitch once in the entire series cause he is dealing with a shoulder injury. They have six other all-star caliber starting pitchers out not counting Yamamoto. Their best right handed reliever is out hurt their best left-handed reliever is out hurt. Freeman is playing at 50%. And Lux just got hurt. They might still be able to get past the Mets but the Yankees would absolutely annihilate them.
Mets are the better team?? Lmaoo man cmon let that bias go. Dodgers are the hotter team right now their bullpen is better and their lineup is a lot deeper.
If they aint locked in at the plate tonight, working the counts getting good swings they are getting swept this series , Vientos cant keep striking out on 3 pitches 2 out of the zone, they look weak at the plate, waiting for the big inning to come, its like they are waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen. They looked horrible game 1, first time this post season I sense they are in trouble.
Mets lost game 1 in 86 against the Astros Mike Scott who struck out 14 dat night & the Mets came back never faced Mike Scott again & the Mets win da World Series
9-0 considering the Mets payroll was a disaster, Dodgers walked them last night. Pitching is hot and bats are waking up, watch out for the Dodgers putting up 17 runs in a game.
It's Game 1. Gotta rebound and get the dub today. Then the mission of splitting the first 2 in LA is complete.
'mets are a better team' is not an accurate statement. Hotter, yes, but to say better is a reach.

Jerry's take for game 2 - "good at bats ...get to their bullpen". Uh ....it's a bullpen game. You're gonna get to them whether you like it or not.
Total choke job by Senga, the hitters, the fielders (2 E + Taylor misplayed sac fly ball), and Winker's base running.
