for real lol. like it's just that hard for blevins to say "these teams are pretty evenly matched when firing all cylinders." no one would argue against that, but not really seeing a convincing argument in favor of his point. credit to jolly who is always well-spoken, though.

Over half the Dodgers starting rotation is on the IL, plus the loss of Vesia hurts their bullpen. Freeman is playing on a bum ankle. Mets are absolutely the better team, on paper, for this series.

There were a few calls in Vientos but as a whole the Mets didn’t pitch well, had a HUGE base running Winker error, walked, and really no pitchers could locate. I’ve watched the game twice. LA never swang and missed, NY did swing and missed…a lot.

Dodger fan here, but follow the NY teams too. Definitely a huge game last night for the Dodgers. However, it’s not done and it won’t be easy. Moment is a huge factor and the Dodgers just eliminated their biggest rival so we’re riding high for now.

Game 2 will definitely set the tone for what will come next.
      Some questions people will have:
      1) Will the Dodgers let off the gas knowing they're up and feel confident after defeating the Padres?
      2) Will the Mets get down on themselves and lose their way before going home?
      Lots of potential narratives here.

7 game series is possible. Mets need to start hitting, but can we be honest? Why is Senga on this roster? Mets got here without him, and he is NOT ready. Ride your starters that you used for the whole year. Manaea, Sevy, Quintana, Peterson, and even MeGill. Use what was winning.

Peterson was our best starter, put him back to the rotation and so he can go back to throwing 6 innings, stop playing games. Of his last 11 starts, he went at least 6 innings 7 times. 5 of them going at last 7 innings..

@@tpak819 What happened in this game doesn't change the fact that Peterson should have been the starter. Peterson has pitched in about 25 games and 135 innings counting the Postseason, while Senga has pitched 3 times for about 5 innings. I'd rather let Peterson start, and if he struggles at least the best option was out there.

Hardest part about watching the broadcast was how loud the speakers were in the stadium, and how the announcer was glazing Shohei every chance he could. They couldn't go a single at-bat without cutting to Shohei sitting on the bench or taking a lead-off. "Shohei up in 8 batters!"

"Flaherty's line looked better than he showed me" - he legit tunneled and made the hitters look bad
"What? Peterson was getting hit." - the dodgers were the #2 offense in all of baseball, how is this "surprising" ?

I'm with you halfway. This is a Mets pod, so there's definitely going to be some coping to get through a loss like Game 1. Some Mets fans are probably trying to balance their hopes and being prepared for a downfall. It's a tricky mental position to be in, to be hopeful but worried.
I agree with you that Flaherty did well. I'm not sure why some fans are underestimating him. He was clearly pumped to perform and he made some decent pitches. The man did well, so you just got to tip your cap to him.
Peterson has been solid lately. I think some baseball fans can feel like a rising stock will last forever. This is a game of mistakes, so the hot hand eventually will cool off.

This Dodgers team has to be the most injury plagued team in the history of the LCS. Yamamoto can only pitch once in the entire series cause he is dealing with a shoulder injury. They have six other all-star caliber starting pitchers out not counting Yamamoto. Their best right handed reliever is out hurt their best left-handed reliever is out hurt. Freeman is playing at 50%. And Lux just got hurt. They might still be able to get past the Mets but the Yankees would absolutely annihilate them.

If they aint locked in at the plate tonight, working the counts getting good swings they are getting swept this series , Vientos cant keep striking out on 3 pitches 2 out of the zone, they look weak at the plate, waiting for the big inning to come, its like they are waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen. They looked horrible game 1, first time this post season I sense they are in trouble.
