Hello Dr. Gates, I am not sure if you will reply me here. However, I wanted to ask you if instead of taking squares of all the individual distances, why can we not take the absolute values of each individual distances and then take the mean of all the individual values. When I did this for the above dataset in the video, I got a std deviation( may be this is not a correct word for this), of 10.75 which is lower than the regular standard deviation of 13.26. I will try to google my question. Thanks!
