Being a watch collector is surreal we find value in 10k watches and yet we can clearly see the craftsmanship required to make these amazing movements. This brand is incredible.
That’s a beautiful movement. Just checked out the site and googled them. They have some beautiful pieces that are less expensive than I thought. Definitely underrated brand here in the states.
I’ve got the green limited edition Manero Power Reserve and absolutely love it. I get a ton of compliments on it and the peripheral rotor system is amazing.
100% agree with you Bruce. This brand has been around a long time and make some beautiful watches with beautiful movements at a great value compared to other more well known brands. I own 2 and class them as high end timepieces
I’m glad that you did a piece on CFB. I have their Manero Heritage Annual Calendar chronograph. It’s a remarkable piece that is much less than any other maker with this sort of complication. Another item is the partnership between Bucherer and Wilsdorf (Rolex). When Wilsdorf was starting he gave him space in his jewelry store. I the photo you shared this is why you see Rolex and Bucherer together on the building signage. There has been a close association since Rolex was started.
I own a CFB Manero Retrograde… a very handsome watch with 34 jewels. Like u said, a very underrated brand, which many folks have not heard of. Unfortunately, it had lost lots of its original value in the resale market but what the heck…it makes me happy wearing one unlike a Rolex.
Thank you, that’s a brand i haven’t heard of before, your video makes it very interesting i will look into it and i feel i want to add one to my collection.
I own a 60's gold bucherer watch that I inherited from my grand father. He bought it in brand new in Switzerland in the 60's and I still have the original receipt . I had it evaluated last year and was given a estimated price of 20k to 25k $. The jeweler told me it wasn't a model that was very popular right now and to wait a few years before selling it (If I ever do, which I probably wont).
I don't have $340,000 to pop for that Manero Minute-Repeater Symphony. But if I did have it, that's a watch I'd grab. No idea if this would hold value but I think it will be a highly sought-after watch in coming years. That's beautiful. I would stare at that for the rest of my days...
I love independent brands and microbrands. Thanks for showing the ones we are not as familiar with. I did get the Tuseno Windseeker after seeing your review on it. Really a great value for a GADA category watch.
Agree with you Eric. I'm having a lot of fun with the independents and micros right now. But I will have some mainstream brands coming up. I just filmed an Omega video this weekend
Right on Bruce! I've been waiting for Bucherer to get some love. In your reviews, I'd appreciate a close look at the bracelet quality, and your perspective on what kinds of brands the finishing is comparable to. Amazing peripheral rotor, that was new to me. The other thing I'll say about Bucherer is that it was *perfect* product placement / costume selection for John Wick. Centuries of history, independent, under the radar, totally refined, kind of old world, you'd kind of have to know about them, etc.
I agree the brand was a perfect fit for John Wick. I just wrapped up filming the main portion of the review today, and because of you I spent some time focusing on the bracelet and all the elements it is comprised of. Cheers!
@@BruceWilliams Awesome; you rock Bruce, thanks so much! I live way up in northern Colorado a few hours from big ADs, so it's tough to get hands on things and really rely on quality reviewers like yourself. I'll look forward to watching, and it's great to see you getting into some independents lately.
Hi Bruce - I was researching this watch brand and was happy to find you made a video about it. Looking forward to your journey and to see which CFB you may get. I’m cross comparing it to the Breitling Premier line. I wish some of CFB’s cases were thinner, but more complications often to lead to thicker cases.
C.F.B have only been manufacturing watches for around 20 or more years. Before that, Bucherer sold bought-in watches in their jewellery store with the Bucherer name on the dial. When they started in house watch manufacturing, they named the watch brand Carl F Bucherer, so the watch company was not founded in 1888. Prior to C.F.B. Bucherer watches sold in the Jewellery store were excellent chronometer rated dress watches, and I have one in my collection. I also have a C.F.B. Tonneaugraph, which in my opinion is better than a Rolex Daytona.
I work at a gold and silver shop. I had someone bring in a 18K 1955 Bucherer chronograph, it's utterly gorgeous. Black leather band, 18k gold, it pops. It was sitting in his fathers desk for 30 years. We have an in house watch repair guy - he cleaned / timed it. It runs great, looks almost brand new. I snagged it for 2k and it feels like a steal.
Compared to some other watch brands that may start with an R or a PP these watches really pack a lot of value for what you are paying. Sort of like a Glashuette Original but made in Switzerland. Looking forward to see what they come up with next.
Clearly a high caliber brand … excellent craftsmanship. Their designs are not quite to my liking, but I can appreciate the engineering that went into their timepieces. 👍🏻
My dad once gave me a vintage Bucherer he got at a yard sale for $1. I had never heard of the brand, and I'm an avid collector of mechanical watches. I looked them up, and sent the watch to their US facility for an overhaul. It came back looking great, and is still running within COSC accuracy. I was so impressed that I bought a Carl F. Bucherer Patravi. The build quality on that watch is fantastic; and I think it has a Top-grade ETA 2824-2 movement, with blued screws; a screw-in crown, and fine leather strap. It still runs within COSC accuracy, even after 5-6 years of regular wear. They are under the radar in the USA, and my best-kept secret for getting a world-class automatic, without paying huge prices.
❤ I say long live Bucherer ❤ I love the perimeter type rotor system, it is a great way to reduce stress on the rotor by distributing the weight more evenly
@ 4:45 dude you can just tilt the watch to move the router out of the way to see the movement if it even has an exhibition case back😅 But joke aside, iv not seen that yet, and yea it’s neat seeing the whole movement as one. It’s like the beauty of a mechanical movement but it’s actually automatic! Super cool
What a watch! Been a fan of the brand for a couple of years now. What interests me is what you are wearing, i have to admit that i couldn’t quite figure it out myself
i love their watches. i think what holds them back is the lack of an in-house movement. the market their watches appeals to wants to see in-house complications. maybe that will all change soon!!......just love their manero flyback
Great review. The brand needs to be promoted more. They are great value for money watches. I owned two watches in the past. A Patravi Autodate power reserve and a Manero chronograph annual calendar. Both were very well made watches. Unfortunately they don't hold their value due to poor marketing.
Really great review Bruce! I remember my best friend’s dad had one of these when I was a kid and he was telling me how they’d bought it on a trip to Switzerland and I don’t even know why I remember something from so long ago, ( SO LONG) but it must have made an impression!
I tried on a few colors of the Carl F Bucherer Scubatec while traveling in NYC and it really got me liking this brand. I literally tried on everything at Tourneau, Bucherer, and watches of Switzerland that were 42mm and over and would fit over my hand and on an 8” wrist in stock form. This pretty much amounts to Omega divers, Breitling, and some others. I looked at the Manero flyback in silver dial on bracelet too. In my opinion, the case finishing, design, and quality of Carl F Bucherer punches way above these other watches in its price point. Easily a few levels above. Not considering the lower end sellita based movement in the Scubatec, just from a finishing, overall look, function, and feel standpoint. Neither Omega or Breitling really had anything that had the same pop like the Patravi Scubatec did -and don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect. I really liked the Manero Flyback too. Knockout on finishing, bracelet design, dial layout, and overall quality. Compared to the Scubatec, the Manero just didn’t have the same tough masculine look, almost 50/50 brushed with lots of high polished surfaces on a larger, more sculpted case and bracelet like the Scubatec had. The Scubatec is gonna stand out and be way more gangster if that makes any sense lol. The whole Patravi line has made some really awesome, ahead of their price point timepieces that have that same tough but elegant quality. The Patravi T-Graph on bracelet, Patravi Evotec peripheral on bracelet, Patravi Chronodate on bracelet and many more if you look. For me looking at larger sized divers under 10-15k the Scubatec just stuck out as a much higher quality diver for the price than its competition. On the Scubatec the things I can do without are the bezel having two different colored ceramic inserts, that bugs me. The blue is also too light. I’d like a 6 o clock color matched date, center links of the 5 link bracelet polished, slightly sharper looking handset and indices-they are kinda rounded because the design incorporates manta ray shapes everywhere on the dial… and it would be so much better with the peripheral manufacture moment modified to 4hz and twin barrel main springs… a display case back…With some minor changes - major in the movement dept, the Scubatec could be a total knock out timepiece destroying just about everything in its segment at 10-20k.
I love the brand and was actually in their shop in Lucerne 24 yrs ago...6 floors of watches...yikes! I'll have to check them out next time I'm in Philly....
I've been in love with this brand for several years. First noticed it in John Wick, then a few other movies. I will own one of these, just need to make a decision.
Hi Bruce. Would seriously consider one of these for the collection. However I’m wary of butterfly clasps and getting a good fit. In you review can you tell us about micro adjustment or half links etc and how easy it is to get the right fit.
Reminds me of another Swiss Watch maker that’s on very few people’s radar that was also founded in 1888, and that brand is Atlantic. These Bucherer watches are works of art no doubt, but pricing them at Rolex price levels will keep many only looking, not buying. Atlantic uses the common Swiss movements that are in many other Swiss and German watch brands, that makes them far less expensive. If you haven’t heard of them, check them out.

Once people hear about them, I'm sure things will finally take off 😀

Thank you. Its an easy thing to get mixed up. Ultimately they fall under the same general ownership but are operated as separate entities
Tungsten rotor.1 of many clever details. Looks like good quality.
John Wick wears a Carl Buchere. Underrated brand. Great review Bruce
Underrated because a fictional movie character wears it 🤣
I was looking at picking up the new Breitling Navitimer until I came across your channel and this vid in particular. I did not know about this watchmaker, but you've driven me to their website and really like the Manero Flyback in olive green...which I'm leaning towards now.
Okay. Shit. My favorite watch complication now.
I didn't know it existed before today.
Sending my congratulations on the 100K sub ( a little earlier). You have been a reason many men are into horology now. Thanks, Bruce.
Thank you! Hopefully will cross that threshold in a couple weeks. I appreciate your kind comment
Those concentric circles are so awesome

John wick is definitely the first time I even heard of the brand
It is a well known brand actually. Like Parmigiani.
Not as much here in the United States. I hope to do a small part in changing that
Bruce, its “Boo kar”
Also the a2011 (and other a20xx) movement, they still use the a2000 bridge/plate in there as you can see in the video.
Boo kar'rar 😆
Been saying this for a long time ! Very underrated watch brand for the price !
Thanks, Bruce. There's allot to like with these. Kind of not crazy about the sharp angles on the movement bridges. Think I remember Minerva and Vulcain doing that, also. But would never be a dealbreaker.
This watch is magnificent! Its funny how only hyped watches are thought as good by people. Thanks for introducing me to this brand it genuinely is beautiful ❤️
I've got one. Incredibly well constructed.
What is the lug to lug ? I also noticed the end links seem to taper down around the wrist… how is the wearability?
The TravelTec FourX was the first watch I remember seeing that was more than a Rolex, it blew my mind and had to know more. Pretty much started my love of watches
Bucherer's peripherial rotor system is something!
awesome cheerleading! Nice looking movement!
this is my dream watch. thanks for sharing the content. i really appreciate
Yes, nice watches with some nice details when you look (eg logo on the barrel etc). I picked up their heritage bicompax annual ltd chrono few years back.
Excellent work. This is my daily driver.
Thank you. Excellent daily driver you have haha
Just took a look at their website and gotta say I am impressed with many of their watch designs. I especially like the Manero Flyback Chrono
Bucherer is the main AD for Rolex in the US handling their new preowned product. They also bought out the watch retail giant Tourneau.
Merci beaucoup Bruce, magnifique review. And you can find a superb Bucherer blue Longines, or à Bucherer blue Tissot prx, Oris, IWC big pilot, Piaget, Tudor....
Thx a lot and greetings from Switzerland.

100k. Congratulations
I have owned a CFB Patravi. An impeccable brand for people who can think outside of the herd mentality.
WOW! Beautiful and impressive!
Out of my price range but beautiful watch. Particularly love the blue one
John Wick wears this brand of watch
Rambo aka Sylvester Stallone as well.
But Sly will be always associated with Panerai.
Jason Statham wears a Scubatec in the movie The Meg. It's also featured in Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron.
Along with others in the movie series
The names Wick John Wick !
I didn't see it on John Wick, but I did notice it on Winston, the mngr of the continental
I thought also for a while about Bucherer, nice watches, yet the size is a bit big if I recall right, they are all over 40...maybe would be nie some details into wearability. Thanks great contents as usual
really inspired me today, THANK YOU !
is this an annual calendar? Or would you have to set the date every month.
I knew about CFB for quite some time but never really paid much attention. You almost sold me on them god dang lol
CfB has been making watches longer then most brands have existed, a very underestimate brand that I personally have been collecting for years.
Hi can you review the CFB triple calendar please
They look great! I look forward to the pros and of course the cons as well.
It has the moon phase as well. Would be nice to hear an expert opinion
Love the video! Except when a speedy is called “basic”
Would love to see that peripheral router on some sportier models.
Way out of my price range, but they make some beautiful timepieces.
