Some of you, love to cook, and when you eat something finger-licking good, you ask the chef for the recipe.
I’m not that type of person. I’ll eat your delicious food, praise you, and take some of your food home! I won’t remake your dish because I know it won't be very good in my untalented cooking hands!
But when I read something, that’s different. I need to dig into the writer’s recipe to figure out - why is this story, novel, or essay so damn good?!
I read @kieselaymon essay, Letter From Home four times. I discovered something new and beautiful during each reading session.
1. Oh, this is so poetic.
2. Damn, this is a masterclass in the personal is political.
3. Wow, the writer is grieving for himself, and at the same time grieving for the failure of the imagination that is racism.
So I decided to do a deep dive into this beautiful and heart-wrenching epistolary essay.
