- A playthrough of the first mission of a German campaign in the game Aces of Valor from designer Erik von Rossing and publisher Legion Wargames. Aces of Valor is a solitaire wargame set in the skies over the Western Front during the First World War.
The mission objective is to destroy a tank force along the front line. The entire mission is in this video, from the drawing of the mission card, to the selection of the pilots & aircraft involved and includes a dogfight with the French as well as the attack on the target and mission resolution.
This is an updated and improved version of a print & play game by the same designer. It is a narrative focused game on air combat during World War I. Campaigns can be played from the viewpoint of the British, French or Americans on the Entente side and the Germans on the Central Powers side.

Hey Joe - thanks for posting this play through on AoV, which was very well done. Just got this game and into my 2nd campaign (British medium) with the 1st one (Yanks short) resulting in a major victory. Definitely beginners luck due to very favorable dice gods on my side. The 2nd campaign just the opposite, as I'm already -5 MP going into my 3rd mission. Really enjoying the game and hope you post a Part 2 to yours since Part 1 was very helpful for my learning curve. Cheers!
Thanks. Not sure if I will do a part 2, but I will keep it in mind. I'd like to do something featuring the Allied side.
Nice playthrough. You missed a step at the beginning. You should have placed Objective Counters in each sector D, E and F.
Once you arrive in the sector you then roll the D3 for targets.
A couple of other things I noticed:
On the roll for advantage in the Combat Phase you forgot to take DRM into account.
You also forgot the Air Skill of the 2-Seaters : they both should have been in 11 not 10 (even after you swapped the Germans for French)
I have enjoyed the couple of campaigns I did. Haven't tried as the Germans yet.
The full campaign is definitely the most interesting.

nice video enjoy it, at 20:33 a 8 is rolled the enemy has seaters so drm says + 1 so ur landing at 9 and C3 says u spot enemy first but u lost the advantage and the seaters have + 1 air attack
so there on higer initiative track 😀
