- This is another quick down 'n' dirty upload - the attract mode for Sega Rally 2 DX running in Supermodel x64-r761. I haven't got any controls set up in this yet (my wheel's in the cupboard and I couldn't be arsed to set up my Xbox 360 pad - it's getting late and I've got to go to work tomorrow) hence why I'm just uploading a quick blast of the attract mode. The main reason for this upload though is to highlight one of the differences that immediately jumped out at me in this Deluxe version of the game compared to 'normal' Sega Rally 2 - the livery of the Ford Escort now looks totally different. I kept the snowy attract mode part in as well at the start as I thought the cars were looking particularly nice and shiny in it and i always like seeing the Lancia Statos in action ( • Sega Rally 2 Vs... Tra... ). I'm not sure what other differences there are between the two games, I guess I'll find out after a few goes.
This requires obtaining a Sega Rally DX ROM from your choice of dodgy ROM sharing site and then swapping over a few ROM files from your original Sega Rally 2 ROM into it. You can find out more info here: www.supermodel3...
Once again this is due to the work of the very clever Spindizzi. Nice one dude!

Iirc it was due to a change of sponsorship . In 96 and 97 seasons the Ford had the colors of Repsol, Carlos Sainz main sponsor. But for the 98 season he left for Toyota, driving the Corolla, and that's when the blue Ford appeared, the had to look for other sponsors.
Personally, for me the eternal blue car will always be the Impreza.
Good to know!
@@MrThunderwing By the way in the 90s I read on a magazine that the Subaru Imprezza was supposed to appear in the first Sega Rally, but one of the sponsors denied it at the very end of development so it was deleted. But supposedly, it was already in the game and somewhere there's a final or near final build with the car included.
Just one of those myths from that era.
@@martinantelo7086 Maybe it'll show up one day through a bit of rom hacking, a bit like the Hornet in Battle on the Edge: ruclips.net/video/4-hYD1a5Uo8/видео.html
I remember first playing this in early 99 in Tamworth mega bowl it was near VF3TB, they both blew everything away in the room that was also 3-D it's took Bart and Nik and co along time to pull off the masterstroke that is Supermodel emu, but now those of us that drooled over model 3 back in the day are living the dream. :)
I remember being blown away by Sega Rally 2 as well. The effect of the reflection in the windshield glass was unlike anything I'd seen in a racer before.
Virtua Fighter!👍😃
I never get bored of looking at these gameplay videos, it's like I'm seeing it for the first time all over again with the same amount of wonderment :) Another great quick down 'n' dirty video, just the way we like 'em Al 'cos that's the only way you roll :)
With a bit of widescreen upscale-y magic this does look pretty friggin' impressive for a 1998 arcade title. Sega really were techno-wizards when it came to impressive looking arcade titles.
I love snow racing you get to drift Outrun style!!
Good Video :D
Yeah Arcade YEah drift ANd Speed
THE KING OF THE RALLY ITS BACK!
Great video and wonderful game. Thank you.
This is a good rally video game!
I love Sega Rally 2 the Toyota Corolla is my favourite car
Wow! Sega games are so cool!😃
I recall speeding along a quiet snowy road back in 1993 in my Ford Escort RS Turbo. You can tell this is a fantasy videogame because I don't think the game ever accurately depicts you being upside down in a snow bunker on the side of the road, shivering your tits off and worrying about how the hell you're going to get home. I love SEGA for that but as the same time I feel they misled me into thinking that driving a Ford Escort at high speed in the snow was something that was deemed enjoyable. Bastards :(
I can relate. I fell off my bike cycling home from work in the snow today. I must've been going, oooooh, all of 1mph at the time. It was pretty intense dude!
@@MrThunderwing you were down and dirty mate, that's how we like ya ;)
👍👍👍
@0:57 Those people are extremely lucky.
Ha ha!
They always do that even in real life.

This one runs slow on the Supermodel r775 - whereas the vanilla Sega Rally 2 runs just fine. Any tips?
It runs slow for me too. I'm not aware of any workaround, I think it's an issue with the actual game that'll only be fixable by Bart and the Supermodel team.
@@MrThunderwing OK thanks. Maybe you can update here when it gets fixed. Also any idea when the the next release after r775 is due? I hope they fix the AMD slowdown in the new version.
@@SaminPK No idea about the next release date. Although I was a playtester for the original v0.2 of Supermodel before it got publicly released many, many years ago, I'm just a normal end user now and get all my info from updates in the forum.
@@MrThunderwing Have you try setting PowerPC frequency to 100 as mentioned in the Games.xml file?
@@macdox69 I have not.
need some info mate........ iv extracted the sr2 rom but the files that are required from it are missing 'mpr-20637.58, mpr-20637.59, mpr-20637.60' the ones i have are mpr-20638.58, mpr-20639.59. and then how do we recompress after adding the files? i know it sounds all very noob but im having issues hahahahahaa ;)
Once you've swapped the files around, you just need to turn the rom back into a compressed file using something like 7zip. It's been ages since I did this, so I can't remember if you just name the zip file the same as the original rom (I think you do). In terms of the files, I just did a Google search for 'Sega Rally 2 DX rom', downloaded one from somewhere and then swapped the files over.
@@MrThunderwing thanks mate, that worked, i think id messed up the file name. next problem, if i change any settings in SM3 ini then no games will start, just pops up with an error. put the default ini in and it runs fine.... in low res hahahahaa, any ideas? thanks
@@MrThunderwing i got it working fine using MAME front end. just regarding the stutter, its the same fix as SR2, turn the cpu frequency upto 60, although i think 52 will do it on supermodel UI, MAME only allows for increments of 10, anyway, the slowdown is gone ;)
Cool, cool, good to know.
Hey MrT. Did you set the SEGA Rally 2 DX PPC Frequency to custom or default?
Custom, but I can't recall what. Probably set to 50.
@@MrThunderwing Thanks
@@EnzoTestarossa740 There's thread over on the Supermodel forum, there someone recommends the optimal PPC frequency to set DX to, which, IIRC, prevents the slowdown. I don't know what the magic number is off the top of head though, might be worth having a bit of a search on the forum 👍
nice, no more bug sound?
No, I think that's been fixed for quite some time now.
#NoVRNoBuy!!!! ;)
gui?
No.
