Your tools fascinate me. The perfect blend of keeping old things that actually work and adding new time savers. It’s a pleasure to watch you bring old things to life again.🐝🤗❤️
Excellent restoration as always! I HIGHLY suggest "Obenauf's Leather Oil" for stiff dry leather, and any Obenauf's products for that matter. They are all natural, safe for leather, and somehow they've mastered the formula to smell like "new leather". I'm not sure of availability where you are though. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the tips! After some research I haven't found it available here in Norway 😌. Sounds like a really good product! No worries, thanks for watching!
now that is how a real restoration is done, bringing back to life everything that can be revived and not replacing everything but the blade, well done you for doing things so well, looks great and keeps it's story with your part now added to that
Great...great...GREAT... Maybe one of the most simple and less work restorations, but maybe the most criterious one, and big respect about : "Time on things..."
Excellent restoration sir. I love your shop/ studio and the work you do on it, in it, and through it. Nothing, in my estimation , beats the human hand, eye for quality, your projects exemplify that. Thanks for the video.
It's amazing what a little bit of elbow grease and some soap does! Well done showing that not everything needs to be put into a vinegar bath for days to turn out amazing!
Have a very similar one, but mine looks even worse.😄But works still perfect in the woods. Treatment of the sheath: I have several pairs of old military boots. Same procedure.
I gave a Hella Nying to my dad many years ago, such a beautiful knife. Now I have it and it is a joy as I have hand issues that don’t let my fingers close. I think I’ll take it out and oil the leather, not that it needs it.
That it awesome! Sorry to hear about your hand 😔 I highly recommend oiling handle at least once every year (this way wood will never go dry and crack) and same for leather sheath. Leather balsam worked quite well for me. If you do this every year, knife and sheath will stay in good shape for a very long time.
Como siempre tu trabajo lo dice todo....te mando un cordial saludo desde Sevilla España👍 no dejes de hacer vídeos ...a mi personalmente me gustan mucho...te deseo lo mejor amigo👏👏
@@FFD_Restorations The knife is actually at the bottom of a lake in The Northern Lappland in sweden here😵💫. I havent ever dared telling my Dad about it.. Remember at least 10years ago he once asked me like.. Have you seen my Helle Nying?? NOO DAAD..NOT ME🥴
This is a Norwegian knife, Helle Nying. It is very strange to see it in this condition, especially the rust on the blade, since it is made of three-layer laminated stainless steel.
Man...it's just awesome!!! I'm always impressed about your work!!! And your shop...I dream to have one like yours! All these handplanes make me jealous!!😉😉 I have one question : at 3:54 what to do you use to clean the blade up please? Thanks
Noted! Thanks a lot for the feedback Sarvesh! Can you be more specific please? What would you like to see more in my videos? Tools, toys, weird items or something else?

Thanks for asking, I used scotch brite to clean up the blade. It works great if the blade is not too damaged. Also thank you for watching my videos!
This makes me happier to be Norwegian.
☺️👍
Great work
Thank you so much 😀

What would the cost of the restoration be? Personally, I´d prefer to keep the old one but la pasta manda.
Depending on material use, time spent and difficulty...

handle is ruined. should have given it light sanding and then danish oil aka raw linseed oil and done!
