I think that there is a misunderstanding here. A person is justified through faith. We say “faith alone” because we are saved by grace through faith and nothing else(Ephesians 2:8-9). Not “faith and works” not “faith and love”, not “faith and sacrements “ , not “faith and church membership “.
“Faith alone” means that the saving work of Christ is applied to a person through faith and nothing else. A person is saved by Christ by His death for one’s sins and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).This is applied to a person through faith.(Romans 5:1). There is nothing else necessary and anything else is adding to the work of Christ.
When a person is saved, they receive the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). One cannot love until one is first saved. Likewise, a person cannot do good works until one is first saved. We are spiritually dead and cannot do anything pleasing to God unless we are first born again and saved (Ephesians 2:4-6).
This is not a minor distinction. The reason being if you add anything to the gospel, you preach and/or believe a different gospel that is damning (Galatians 1:8-9). If you add works or love to the gospel of salvation by grace through faith, you are saying that what Christ did was not enough for your salvation and that you must contribute to it. This is a false gospel and if one clings to it, one will wind up in hell because one is not trusting fully in Christ for their salvation but are ultimately trusting in themself. One either trusts in Jesus for their salvation or they don’t, there is no such thing as partial trust in Christ. That’s why this is so important and that is why the reformers were necessary. I think that this issue is still a major divide between Catholics and Protestants and rightfully so. We’re talking two different gospels, the biblical one which saves and the Roman one which damns.
The discourse on this video is good but we must remember that the issue of justification through faith is a major issue and we cannot have true spiritual fellowship until Rome repents of her gospel and embraces the biblical one.

The thief on the cross lived before the great Commission, he didn't need to be baptized. Now he could have been by John when all of Jerusalem came out to be baptized by John and temporarily fell away. Old Testament people were never told to be baptized.
