This is something that should be taught to kids in schools. The financial consequences of a failed marriage or relationship with kids involved. You can do everything right, but your life can be ruined by getting involved with the wrong person.

I am now 40 years old and I can honestly say-as a guy who grew up with an absentee father and was out on my own at 16 years old-I have learned more about being a man from watching these men, than just about any other "man" that I have had in my life.
Dan is right about waiting a year, or two before college. The argument can be made that you are set yourself farther behind as far as prime earning years, but suffering through a shitty job with a shitty boss will make college seem a lot easier, and make it easier to focus.

I remember hearing a violent scuffle, and then not seeing him again---and not having any idea what happened until I saw the video.
Back in the early 90's I was lucky enough to go watch in person the UFC 5 event in Tulsa Oklahoma. Back then a fighter could go several matches in one night for very little money if they won. And there was no weight classes in those days so a fighter weighing 180 pounds could fight someone 300lbs or more till there was one man left standing at the end of the night. They are true warriors in every aspect, hats off to these guys.
Quite the interesting life Ken has had. Quite the experience with the Marines. As for the first topic, I think it requires more than a person in power. As Rich said, the culture is already there. The fact that we can't use basic biology and have to invent terms is quite telling. What sucks is you work hard changing tires on cars and you drive a old truck and some 16 year old pulls up in a late model BMW that his dad gave him and he hates the car you will never be able to afford.
You just have to try to find a way to be happy where you are in life. It's good to set goals, and strive for more, but you have to be able to enjoy life as you go or you are cheating yourself. That kid driving the beamer is not happy. You don't want to him. He can't figure out how to be happy. No use being filled with envy. If you keep working hard, and staying out of trouble you will 100% for sure get ahead in life.

But others just have what I call a God given talent. They are just different. Because some of the things I try to master take a long time. But it comes easy for others.
No disrespect to the famous Ken Shamrock, but the year was 1987 when you went to boot camp, we were in the same platoon from around February to about April or May. Plt 2019, Golf Co, 2nd Recruit Bn, MCRD San Diego. His story stands true, the details about him jacking up the D.I. are murky for me, but doesn't surprise me. My main recollection of Ken were the Halo dimples, since not hard to see due to our shaved heads during the 1st phase. The man was definitely a physical freak of nature compared to the rest of the recruits and no one had a problem with him being our platoon guide. Too bad about the discharge whether Honorable or Administrative, he at least signed on that dotted line like all Marines from past and present. He would have made the Corps proud with his physical prowess and still would have probably accomplished what he did during his MMA and UFC career and then some more. Semper Fi Ken, if not already so you should be afforded the opportunity to be an Honorary Marine for helping with The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.
I agree that waiting to go to college makes sense. My experience with it was frustrating because no one I went to for advice had any experience with a post-WWW job market. It would be good to hear these guys go over the exact policies on trans athletes. It’s obviously ridiculous for a man to change genders and compete in women’s sports the next day. But there are transwomen who are not sporting more muscle mass than average. If we’re going to talk advantages based on male hormones, we can’t leave steroids out of the discussion. And it’s not like genetic female athletes have never used them. Maybe athletic bodies need standards for male hormones and to group people by how much is in their body.
Military or the trades after highschool is the best thing a young man can do for himself before considering college. Nothing toughins you up and makes you wise like wearing 40lbs tool backs all day climbing concrete forms when its 12° out

I use to wait it 6pm for ufc vhs to Be returned do I could see the next event..several months apart back then. These guys were awesome. I still feel bad for Severn not being more viscous in his gracie fight. He could've kneed his head and easily knocked him out. He became more vicious after that loss. He could've easily won that one too. ;)
Dan's opinion on young people not going to college straight out of high school Is spot on. I think they should either join the military or get some middle of the road labor job Or maybe a beginner level position in the career they may wanna go to college for. Not only would they appreciate going back to school after a few years of that but they would have a better understanding of exactly what they want to get out of college.
