Wow it’s so incredible to hear how our wedding impacted you Mike, thank you so much for showing up to it fully. Can’t wait to see you next and hear more about your inner journey since then! Maybe we can do another breath work together? ☺️❤️
You know it’s an impactful conversation when we find ourselves rewatching like a part of the audience!!! Big thanks to you Mike for coming on our show, opening your heart and spitting soooo much knowledge!!! Love you 🥰
This episode is a must-listen for anyone looking to break free from fear-based limitations and step into a life of adventure and growth. Mike’s insights into fear-how it manifests, how it holds us back, and how we can reframe it-are incredibly powerful. His storytelling, combined with Emon and Bec’s thoughtful questions, creates an engaging and transformative conversation. I found myself pausing and replaying certain moments just to let the wisdom sink in. If you're looking for motivation to push past your comfort zone, embrace uncertainty, and live more fearlessly, this episode will give you the mindset shift you need. Highly recommend tuning in-it's like a pep talk for the soul!
Just finished this pod and WOW. I AM STILL PROCESSING all of the insightful, amazing conversations that happened in this episode. Thank you Eamon and Bec for sharing all of these incredible people with different backgrounds and experiences. The more episodes that come out, I notice that every person is SO different but come together in so much likeness when it all boils down to being open with each other and sharing the love. I love love love loved this episode so much. These conversations are eye opening and life changing and truly feed the soul. Thank you. So much love 🤍✨
Also Mike is a total badass. As a woman, it’s usually hard for me to relate or sympathize with “manly” men that do podcasts. 😂 (I usually click off.) But I trust Eamon and Bec’s choices in people they let into their lives, and Mike is so open and careful with his words and can tell that he is a person of SO MUCH love with no judgement and wants to share with others how to live a great life. Just amazing. Subscribing to him now!!!
Mike has been doing the WORK to get the world to think culturally relativistically! As an Amazonian anthropologist and professor, getting to challenge students' worldviews is my favorite part. I'm taking a group of students to the Amazon for their first time this summer and I cannot wait for them to have realizations like this!
I don't know most of the people you bring on until they are here, maybe it's an American thing. This one was particularly interesting! Thank you for going deep with people, I really appreciate the 2 hour convos, I don't think you can really get to know someone without it being at least that long!
Eamon and Bec, I love how you create such a space for these deeper conversations it’s why your podcast feels like sitting down with friends who truly get it. You don’t just scratch the surface; you dig into what actually makes us human, and this episode was a perfect example of that. Mike, what you shared about how we’re conditioned by the cultural lens we grow up with is something I see all the time in my work mentoring women in relationships with Mexican partners. It’s so true that we are ‘gifted’ a set of beliefs what food is ‘normal,’ what traditions are ‘acceptable,’ how relationships ‘should’ work but when we step outside of that, we quickly realise that the world isn’t black and white. I love how you described approaching new experiences without judgment. So many times, people enter a culture (or even a relationship across cultures) thinking, ‘Well, this is just how things should be done.’ But the reality is, there is no universal ‘right’ way there’s only what is right for a particular community, family, or person. When you truly open yourself up to understanding, instead of labelling things as ‘weird’ or ‘wrong,’ you stop seeing differences as barriers and start seeing them as bridges. Your take on fear as a muscle really resonated, too. Fear isn’t just about heights or public speaking it shows up in sneaky ways, like self-doubt, perfectionism, or hesitating to step into unfamiliar situations. I see this with so many women who want to integrate into their partner’s culture but hold back because of fear ‘What if I make a mistake in Spanish?’ or ‘What if his family doesn’t accept me?’ But, just like you said, the more you face it, the more confidence you build. That’s how cultural fluency develops, too you lean into the discomfort, and before you know it, you belong in a way you never thought possible. This whole conversation was such a powerful reminder that when we stop resisting fear and instead follow it like a compass, we gain the richest experiences and deepest connections. Thank you all for such an inspiring discussion!
OMG! There are no words……what an incredible life story, Mike’s personal reflections, and determination/strong mind…..one of the best interviews I have ever heard. Thank you for sharing….
Wednesday is the best day because of Reroot and I think I'm more excited for this chat than any other...even though I've actually never heard of this guy before. Lovin' it so far 🥰
I just lost it when I saw your guest!! The two best CANADIAN youtube channels in one podcast WOOOOW. And the cameo of Kara and Amy LOL. What a deep and impactful podcast congrats to you guys!! Can't wait to see who you have on next!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh guys, where to even start or find the words, I feel like every bloody episode is just life changing, but this was truly ✨ELEVATED✨ thanks for sharing doesn't really even cut it ❤️💫🙏
So great to meet Mike! What a great episode. Watched it straight through - no pauses. I do want to say to Mike, in reference to his fear of dying with 'shoulda woulda coulda's. Forgive yourself right now for having them because they will happen. At my age of 65ish (lol) I can tell you that you will have them and if you don't then you have not yet have lived a full life. We rethink our choices and sometimes regret the ones we did not make but we must always remember that we made the ones that were right at the time, AND the ones we were meant to. To this day I remember a man who approached me in the park as I grieved the ending of what was then a crucial relationship for me. He kindly asked if I was okay. He had noticed that even though I was silent, that I was weeping. I nodded and thanked him....but to this day, some 40 years later...I wish I had taken the time to speak to a guy who would notice a sad stranger. So that is one shoulda coulda for me and there are more than a few. You will have them too. But how great is it to have even had the blessing of meeting - no matter how fleeting - that type of person? Thanks again for a great episode. Love you guys!
This was a great talk. Loved every minute of it. So much to think about, moments of laughter at the bullshit soup, moments of awe as you all opened up about so many things we all experience in this existence as human BEings 💖 ✨️
Wow wow wow. This conversation is one of my absolute favorites. The discussions around fear are so validating and eye opening. Such an impactful and intentional discussion. Thank you!! And I’m happy to meet and get to know Mike through this video. So powerful
Each episode is better than the last. Amazing opening of the heart center here from all 3 of you, bravo. I love seeing the 3 of you open up, its a beautiful process to witness. And what great things you are achieving now
Great interview! Had some great lol moments like the story of Betsy! 😂 Mike is an amazingly open, honest guest and your questions brought that out so well. I'm loving Reroot and learning alot!
Oh my god, that was me in middle school! I had to stand in front of the glass and give a presentation on some subject. I had the whole thing written down, and then memorized. I was standing there, and couldn’t talk. I’ve never liked being the center of attention. It makes me feel so uncomfortable. But this teacher didn’t understand, and she had me stand the full class hour, with everyone just staring. When the bell finally rang, she told me I could step down, and that my grade for that class was zero(or an F in the US). The only word I could have come out of my mouth was “goddamnit” (keep in mind, I went to Catholic schools all my school years😮) . I was traumatized and to this day, I hate speaking in front of a group.
OMG, what a whirlwind of a conversation, the 2 1/2 hours flew by and I could still listen to some more - absolutely amazing and fascinating! Thank you; all of you, learning soooooo much 💖❤💫
What a fascinating guy. People handle fear in many ways. What is truly the best way to handle it? This video is a great exploration of it. All the best guys 🙏👍🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki
What a stunning, peaceful studio. I must say that although I love all your podcasts, this one was my favourite. It touched me deeply and has given me a lot of food for thought. Your guest was so interesting and so well spoken. What a pleasure to learn from someone so knowledgeable. Thanks guys!
Bec, I've never ever mediated a day in my life, but I would follow you threw a meditation no problem. You're the most inspiring real female I've ever watched. You should definitely host retreats.
Hey guys, if you happen to read this, is there anyway you could give me a little advice for starting a cold plunge group. Here you are not allowed to swim in open water between September and May. Did you guys need to talk to the government or something to get you allowed or maybe the rules just aren’t so crazy there? I cold plunge on my own, but if I brought attention to it, I’m afraid I would be kicked out out of the water.
OMG, my mini dachshund had one of those fly sores on his back. I didn't know what it was. So every night I would put neosporin on it and rub - softly squeeze it. About 1 week in, I was cleaning it and some "stuff" came out of it. I was like COOL maybe it will heal. The next night I was cleaning it and when I squeezed it a LARVAL popped OUT!!!!! It was still squirming. I screamed and flushed it. Oh after I took a picture.... Then he healed up within 3 days. Craziest day ever!!!!! Love the POD!
I got two botflies in Nigeria at the same time, it was so traumatizing lol they just put vaseline on the top of the wound and it cuts the air supply for the maggot so it comes to surface and then they just squeeze it out or pull with tweezers 🤦♀️🤢
I cannot believe how every week this podcast touches my soul in such a deep way💜🔥⚡ I don't think it really matters who you have on here because the energy you bring and the comfortability you offer in these deep conversations is where it's at. You're proving that everyone is capable of sharing their deep side and you're helping us learn as you do it. I am forever grateful💜🩷🩵🧡💛💚
