The bouncing disc can kill multiple people in different areas by bouncing off of an explosive, setting it off and continuing to bounce to its final target.
I feel like the balance is just fine, the tactical side of this game has been designed very well. You actually need to think and plan proper way to approach different situations. The game doesn't drown you in resources either, you'll be constantly using your consumables and money. A lot of games just throw stuff at you that you'll never use.
"Let Loose the Frogs of War!" i said it at the beginning, but now its in the game, Dang!! When youre ambushed with that line, boy oh boy do I wish you all the luck, i am so enjoying the playthrough, keep up the love and playthrough of this
I think the reality of that log is actually more menacing 85 years ago. My guess is that ship got lost in about that time. And the moment you turned it on collector's were modified for the mission and sent. All automatically. Hunting you down. Machines with one mission to capture you. All in a sub routine from 85 years ago.
Ive started just leaving Elvis and Digg at the start of a map in stealth and scouting the whole thing with just Jade while picking off stragglers, that way I dont have to worry about them moving with me or getting stuck haha I also, since you are on challenging and Im on standard, or whatever normal is I can basically pick off everything under 120 hp by speccing jade for crits also everything you are running into with 80 hp, is 70 hp on standard, and the scouts are 110, which jade kills with a crit, so this last fight I only had to kill the witchdoctor and gunner while out of stealth. HUGE difference in difficulty, like you mentioned XD
The comment below on the tactical side of this game is no joke. I just hit level 12 on the same settings as you Odd. I have squeaked out wins by using many different aspects of the "tactical" gameplay. Stealth every low hp gaining rage to hit the mid ranges, use every rotating skill and weapon and always have the right consumable for the mission. The tactical doesn't just end on the battlefield. Loving the continued content!
Hey Odd, You definitely need to take advantage of any fight or killing any straggler you can feasibly win. Gaining EXP is going to be real important right now. Also some sidequests are now available to complete. You might wanna consider reloading before the ambush and doing those to gain EXP and obtain weapons, items and credits from encounters and side missions.
Throws popcorn at Odd. No cliffhanger!!! Arrggh Note: when you first misclicked and they swarmed toward you: you got some grenades if I remember correctly. Note: you read all of them, last time many were vocied, audio. Make sure to listen those that are voiced. More action: you are in big doodoo, might need to do some side lower level missions first, this is clearly a main one. But if you try this combat anyway don't forget to focus on finishing enemies with crits when possible, to get the extra AP. Seen many weak souled out there doing it on normal mode. We stand behind you! (and hide... Good luck)
I also had that 'miss click moving' issue early on, I eventually managed to program my brain to use TAB only. Hope they fix it at some point, it's kind of silly you end up moving one character when trying to select another one.
They won't. This game's priority - gamepad. You can't even select abilities or items in backpack with mouse. And that's really frustrating. Priority to consoles.
I had already been through both of these areas before you posted this video; I got past the collectors w/out the keycard (wasn’t brave enough to trying breaking down that wall), through the judicious use of a few thrown bottles. I did the same trick with the first two saplings, but didn’t realize the other two were on the far side of the building until I engaged the main group. Still made it out alive. I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with the Little Big Horn situation around Joseph’s body.
I'm seeing the negative reviews on steam the same way. It seems the ones who don't like it are early in the game and still trying to alpha strike it like in late game xcom. When they inevitably fail they're doing the traditional it's not that I'm wrong, it's the game! It seems the Devs want you to be weak and to carefully attack only when ready
...and yet, there are situations like where he ends this episode where you are ambushed from all sides with no high ground, and barely any high cover, which means anyone you don't kill on round one has a 65% hit chance...and there's quite a few of them. I'm currently on that fight and thinking after a couple of failed attempts about turning the difficulty down to Normal.
You probably figured it out later on.. But the kilowatt charger + shotgun that hits multiple enemies + flanking stuff on Elvis would have been a really cool combo. He could charge up his kilowatts easy and then when he does use his miasma it would heal him any damage he takes from being out in the open from flanking stuff.. Charge + Sniper shot was a sweet combo hehehe.
She was not. That is another character, a bounty hunter. Jade met us in one of the regions before happy hills. Unless that bounty hunter is Jade, and she followed us before revealing herself outside of town.
I used the crit bonus on the silent sniper, 130 damage one taps are super good later on. My gripe with the game is that you feel like you have to game the game later on. I played it to a certain point quite a bit further than you are now, on the difficulty your on, and while some fights where challenging I could manage all of them with stacking some rage for higher HP targets ect, doing a battle to reset cooldowns. Stuff like that. Also abusing a few of the bugs (like if a character goes down in a round, a heal puts them back up with full AP, meaning if you blow yourself up with a barrel with a shotgun shot, you deal barrel damage+shotgun damage, go down, then heal up for another 2 actions). Another thing to note, with the stealth system, is that the charge attack from Diggs actually doesnt break stealth, IF you end the fight with it AND it knocks down the opponent and stuns them. I guess its because they cant call for help when stunned or something. But at a certain point the difficulty just ramps up hard, or rather, the need for gaming the game, because so absurd that its not really fun anymore. Its like there is a single path you can take, and if you dont stricktly adhere to that, then your just not gonna progress. So I guess the gripe isnt so much about how hard the game is, but with how little room for diversity you have. Too few tools to solve the problems later on, and its only exasperbated by the silly cooldown system.
Concur with everything you say. In the end, too many "tactical" games end up being puzzles that only have one solution. This is a classic example of the genre. Fun up to a point and then a puzzle slog and frustration fest after that.
I dont think the character going down and getting 2ap after healing is a bug, but if you have no choice than to have the character down then the game is a little too difficult.
Again if you have to abuse the character's death it means the game is kinda unbalanced. The cooldown system is weird even some of the initial abilities are too underwhelming. I guess besides stealth one thing you should probably do is kite enemies into overwatch trap since overwatch can hit multiple enemies. I think most people would struggle with the hard difficulty and even odd is struggling a little more than he should(because of the balancing)
The problem is the devs are focused too much on stealth but don't give enough options. Most games have some sort of stealth take down or melee that instant kills. And usually more stealth weapons. Hell the frog bow and arrow is stealth. It makes all of their games very tedious and falls into the puzzle trap. Plus it makes it boring because you always have to thin the heard. Games are much better if their multiple paths. Stealth, melee, range, full blown action etc. At least then a player can mix and match each battle instead of the same thing every combat. I enjoy watching it played but I would never buy it. Even mutant zero it's the same thing.
I'm finding the game pretty difficult playing on Challenging + Full tactical. Having to thin the herd every time, but it's getting more difficult as the enemies get so much tougher. In tactical I often feel like I'm don't have enough tools at my disposal. The ability cooldowns are so long...
Yeah, I did it untill the end of the 2nd major area, then swapped to narrative because I got so annoyed at the difficulty spike that happened then. Does teach you that the strongest consumeable in the game is a glass flash though.
I was playing some more and maybe it was just the Whisperers and Collectors that felt too strong at the time of the encounter. Fighting Diesel's robots in the Airport was fairly easy, but there it was easy to thin the herd.

Not having the crit damage on the disc launcher seems a massive waste to me. Has the highest chance to crit and with the bonus crit damage it'll do 80 damage, killing quite a few enemies in 1 shot.
38:06 my man needs to learn mouse discipline because that is one too many miss click's to be making in this game in a single combat especially with abilities the cooldowns in this game are brutal if used ineffectively

@@Kianwan What can I say, fella. People talk like that all the time. Could he have said, "I think that..." at the beginning? Sure. Could he know and be posting spoilers? Sure. Does it overly matter? Not really.
I think it is balanced. You just have to play tactics.
Not having the crit damage on the disc launcher seems a massive waste to me. Has the highest chance to crit and with the bonus crit damage it'll do 80 damage, killing quite a few enemies in 1 shot.
38:06 my man needs to learn mouse discipline because that is one too many miss click's to be making in this game in a single combat especially with abilities the cooldowns in this game are brutal if used ineffectively
damn.. they just boiled Elvis' girl like that? Hope the meat was tender at least...
Oops ambush.
Odd, surely you've played enough XCOM to know the rules of safety (never select via cursor, cancel actions by ESC etc. lest you fall vIctim to the misclick)
That's so stupid that they live in a 'laser era' and doesn't know about beer, magazines or toilet paper. Who wrote the script and who confirmed it, seriously??
I do prefer this, road to Eden, and gears tactics over xcom. The main thing xcom has is the mods. Plus loved the family matters reference.
I think you need to change your keybinds
should have tried to get on the ship lol
i really don't why they put this fucking keybind.
it's the only game xcom like to change all of them
Can't it be changed?
The watchers sound a lot like the youtube comment section.
The controls on a PC are very inconvenient. I also made a lot of annoying misclicks in combat, because of this.
as a veteran of xcom, misclicks are just something you get used to
