A great starting tutorial of how to draw basic cliffs. Even for a complete beginner, with tips like not being too smooth with the lines. This definitely inspires me to try it out.
Really like the relaxed almost hypnotic style of your tutorial. The way you explain your work flow, gives a greater understanding of how you are building the concept of a 3D image on a 2D surface. A very enjoyable and informative tutorial.
Hi Josh, I want to thank you for your tutorials. Thank you for doing the work to teach others something, I don't take that for granted. I hope to see more instructive videos from you and wish you continued success in your work. You definitely have my subscription. Best regards from Germany
@@MapEffects a video about printing, like types of paper. Printing techniques? maybe some styling techniques. I want to know how to make a beautiful printing, instead of just document settings. Do I print with the background texture, or do I print just the black layer on stylized paper to make this parchment look?
@@MapEffects We would love to see printed maps for ornament occasions and for playing. I would love to sell some some maps in Medieval Fair here on Rio de Janeiro!
Hey thank you Andrew! Definitely hoping to start doing more video 👍. I’m using the IPad Pro 11 and the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. The main advantage to the 2nd Gen is it charges by magnetizing to the side of the IPad, which is a small but big thing if you use it daily like I do. Functionality and drawing quality are equal though.
I am aware of them and own them both (Not the new version 2 however). I aspire to get into using them more but it's always hard to break out of your current workflow. I think Procreate is still the superior app when it comes to illustration, if for no other reason than it has a better custom brush engine and is more streamlined. Whether Affinity is a good alternative to Adobe products is another question and one I'd like to pursue. What's difficult is I've used Photoshop for many years now and I'm really required to keep using it so that I can make my products compatible with it, so I don't have a good motivation to drop my subscription and delve into Affinity Photo unfortunately. I know a lot of people who are making the switch though!
I can see your dilemma, it takes time to develop a nuanced work flow with a new platform, all while maintaining support for your existing client base. I can see the Affinity products building an increased following given the quality and pricing model of one off purchase. Best wishes for now.
Great background music.

Hey thank you very much and for the kind words. I truly appreciate it! I'm glad you've found the tutorials and content helpful :)
hanks so much for the help in this video. I'm trying to make a hand drawn map for a fantasy novel, and this is so much help.
Hey you’re very welcome, I’m glad you found it helpful. Happy mapping! 😀
could you make some printing video? would love to see your maps on paper or cloth
As in you would like to see me draw a map on paper or cloth, or you want a video on how to print your maps?

@@MapEffects actually, how to print on cloth?
Question, whenever you buy these programs, is it a subscription or a one time purchase?
All of my products are a one time purchase 👍.
Love your content. Have been following on IG for a while and just subscribed here. What iPad and pencil do you use with Procreate?

I saw a giant earth worm with an open mouth at first. Then when you added the detail, the worm disappeared.
Hahahaha you thought I was going for something from Dune for a second there 😂
