Call in the ground crew! Had a good chuckle. Nice job on the tree, great video editing. May not be a diy video but I'm going to steal some of your rigging methods for sure. Making this work look easy is pretty damn amazing and inspiring.
Nice video. I have an oak I have to do alone, Joe Homeowner. I thought the video showed lots of ideas I hadn’t thought about doing. Really like the PVC shot bag shooter. Making on today!
Dude, you are straight up crazy! I’ve now watched you in 3 videos at least 50’ in the air, SUSPENDED BY ONLY A FRIGGIN ROPE! WOW! Keep it up man, your doing great!
I wanted to ask you who decides which branches to cut, but you answered the question in the video. No further questions at this time. Thank you for sharing :)
Cool that you got one of his hooks! Basic, light, and good. Dang right about those rakers: I filed them the way I usually do for pine and that oak was too much for them. Good eye!
metaspencer Ha! When I see that chatter on a top handle I know all too well!! Been there before.... tryn make the topper spit ribbons like the big saws...
I sent two to each person that sent me gear, and so far sold one, did you buy one or did someone give you one? I sent two so people could give one to friends or co-workers if they werent going to use it, btw, how is it working for ya?
Great solo work as usual. I'm almost ready to get climbing. I ordered 150' of climbing rope a friction saver and a few other dodads. Congrats on getting a ground crew LOL.
had my adjustable frictionsaver choked around a spar yesterday, had it a little wrong and it slid down maybe 6-7ft, at least I wasn't but 10ft off the ground, still scared the sh*t out of me hoping to try out my portawrap some more soon
woah! that's quite a slide. glad you're okay ... I dropped my saw on this one (didn't make it into the video), dropped down, and it started right up :)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nice job my friend.... hellllllllllloooooo the 2511T it was doing so well...then the 193 T came in a stole the show....🤔🤔🤔.. never have enough saws..😁😁..
I had the Echo filed for Pine (lower rakers) so it was catching in the oak a bit ... Stihl seemed to pull a bit better. It was a fun one until ... the rain!
Made them … just get rated webbing and proper thread for your machine following best practices for stitch placement. Steel double lockers are recommended
Yeah basal anchors on all three trees mainly because my line ended up over several limbs and couldn't be tied up top easily. I used crotches not limbs for my high-points ... I was reading last night about how a lot of climbers prefer not to basal anchor so it got me thinking that I should pull up a top anchor more often than I do.
Is it better to call someone on the ground ...here in europe ( but i think in the world ) to work on trees ..its necessary two people one on tree one on the ground ( climber too) in case of emergency ....is the LAW ...
I realize you're not 10,000 ft in the air but it certainly looks like it from a couple of your camera angles and at one point I thought you lost your chainsaw Nothing like paying to do your job crazy you're doing them a service and they charge you to park
Reminds me of some jobs I had as a kid where we had to buy the uniform to work the minimum wage job. Crazy! I did drop that Echo at one point, but it landed nice and soft on some brush. Phew!

Big thanks! Good to hear ... I know how nice an extra set of hands can be, but rolling solo has its benefits. Happy climbing!
It's always good to go back and watch a classic film. This is probably what inspired me to buy a Rescue 8.
Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, and "Over the Mansion" haha ... I hope things are good with you, buddy
btw thanks for the shameless plug for my hooks, just sold two more, gotta ship em this weekend
woohoo! I'm glad to hear it ... that clip should sell itself cuz it's so dang light and solid
Bro u are afflicted with the practical engineer brain. Love watching your solutions and incredible ability to pull off these jobs by yourself
An affliction! haha ... well, at least it gets me high in those trees sometimes :) Thanks for making my day, man
@@metaspencer got me inspired to try some solo rig downs. I was just the other day thinking of using a rescue 8 and then saw you do it 🤘🤘🤘

Be dang careful out there! trees and saws are always looking for a way to kill ya
This video may not show exactly how it’s done but most importantly (and impressively) for me it shows that it can be done. Thank you 👍🏻
Oh yes it can! Take it slow, double check everything, double check again -- and you've got this :)
Thanks Meta Man.
Oh yeah!
AWESOME job Spencer you are amazing! God bless you!
Big thanks! Always nice to hear from ya
My knees shake too, and I'm just sitting on my sofa watching you walk on tree limbs
Me too!! I am terrified of heights. Don't know why I keep watching Spencer way up in the trees, but I'm hooked now
Well, don't let it vibrate the old guitar :)
And then there are the times when the wind starts blowing ...
If you make a bungee to hook to it and your harness it will tend the rope for you as you go up. Stihl born has a video up about it
I like his videos and work ... will have to check it out. I've never gotten the tending 100% dialed in, that's for sure.
@@metaspencer he figured it out

Sometimes even two ropes! Well, thanks for checking it out :)
@@metaspencer Just incredible, hey do you rock climb for pleasure? If not might consider it. You’ve got the hard ropes part down pat!
@@davewallace.8303 yeah started out rock climbing and came to tree climbing late in life ... love them both! :)
I wanted to ask you who decides which branches to cut, but you answered the question in the video. No further questions at this time. Thank you for sharing :)
It kind of depends on the job, but in this case the guy who runs the house/mansion wanted particular limbs taken down. :)
I think I got the first gear hook “treesap” sent out!! I like it!!! Seems like the rakers on your 193 may be a touch short?..?..
Cool that you got one of his hooks! Basic, light, and good. Dang right about those rakers: I filed them the way I usually do for pine and that oak was too much for them. Good eye!

Nice of ya to say! It's always new and interesting out there for sure :) My sister used to live in Edmonton: great mountains up there
Very nice work!
Stay safe
Thanks for checking it out man
I like this ,learned a few tricks, thank you

Sounds like you're getting a good kit together! It's been fun thinking about your growing interest!
That was awesome!!! What a fun challenging job! Great video! I loved it! 👏👏👍👍

Are you using a portowrap in the tree Spencer or just tying off to limbs?
No tie off … check out my recent retrievable rigging line vid to see the setup

Oh yeah. You too bud
how did you retrieved the rope?
I use a retrievable rigging line system ... you'll see it in a lot of my videos
What kind of slings you use?
I make them myself out of nylon webbing and high strength thread on a sewing machine

Was that a 2 hour job or 4? 😁 My knees would be knocking so hard you would think there's a herd of woodpeckers up there. Nice job as usual!
gotta have a PhD for those 2 hour jobs! woodpeckers take note! :) it was a fun one and nice to get paid without any grief
What kind of ropes you use for riggin?
Static for sure ... pelican makes some affordable ones I like ... and for light stuff I just use whatever cheapo ropes I have around
@@metaspencer thanks
Probably where those "knowledge workers" live!😂

"Something about walking on a tree limb... I dunno... It's just wrong." ROFL
