I'd like to add that men who abuse or cheat are considered normal. Whereas if a woman even thinks about it it's wahala. Cheating and abuse is unacceptable from both parties. There are even sayings in my culture that defend a man's right to cheat and have illegitimate children 😢

Women should stop being weak and have as many husbands as she desires . The religious belief that also controls who you sex, who you marry and who you love, has also stolen your soul .

Those are one of the impartialities that exist in African Marriage which is so unfair to women and it is OK in the eye of the society. Sad!!! I hope things change.

If a boy can eat, a boy can cook.

Exactly. My brothers could only eat, they couldn't cook. So my motto is, if a boy can eat, he can cook.

These things also plague African American marriages and family dynamics. Unfortunately this is one thing that cause contention in families even now because it’s like how dare you not want to take care of everyone around you while no one takes care of you.
I one daughter who is the eldest and three sons. I taught them all to wash laundry, do dishes, clean behind themselves, and cook a meal or two.
What if they never marry or what if your wife is ill?
What if she simply doesn’t want to do it?
I would no have any of them to be unable to care for themselves.
When they do marry the two are better than on because now both of you are equipped with basic knowledge of caring for a family.
There’s so much more to know. But everyone should work to do for self.❤

Thank you so much for this comment. Raising kids to be responsible to take care of themselves should be every parent's goal but it is not always the case and like you wrote, 'what if they're not married or the wife is ill'. That's not on people's mind. Most parents don't think of independence. They believe that other people should do their job for them.

I hear your pain and I agree with you. Your words are falling on deaf ears. Narcissistic parents are not watching your video. Hurt adult children are watching. Complaining is not helping the girls today.

My dear, I understand. My purpose is to help us adult children of Narcissistic parents to not raise our children that way because it leaves us traumatized and our men seeing women as maids. Thanks for watching 💕

It qould be better to just point out what is wrong with African marraiges rather than compare with western marraiges. Western marraiges are far from perfect, even worse.

    • @Parentingwiththefutureinmind

I never compare but the man did. The point he is making is that western marriages is like a partnership but African marriages are like slavery to women. Sometimes comparison is needed for proper assessment of 2 things. So let's look at marriage in Biblical context and see if how men treat women threatening with divorce or sending the lady back to their parents house is good because they want the woman to submit under any circumstances but they don't love.

South African girls and women are independent and strong, Their men’s are lazy and uneducated. They both don’t know nothing about marriage or nuclear family.

The Bible is perfect in its description: Husbands love your wife like yourself and love thy neighbor like thyself. So the question begs why are women accepting men who are not self-aware enough to even know thyself never mind love thyself. Are women not able to reject marriage proposals in Africa?

Some are raised to see marriage as the goal and sole purpose of life so she feels abnormal not being married after she is 20

When a girl is raised to be married, they see marriage as the destination and they don't have any purpose outside marriage and they accept anything they see, so to reject marriage is like rejecting their destination or destiny.

Okay. So how do we change girls perceptions? What opportunities can expand a girls understanding for God’s purpose in her life? Talk and spread the word about solutions. Help the next generation. You are not going to change made up minds. But young minds and hearts are malleable especially to truth.
