FILM DESCRIPTION:
Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical thriller comes to the big screen in this adaptation directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, and Alan Rickman. I appreciate that Sweeny not only gave the smoothest and fastest shave, but also the most comfortable for his client. He gently slathered their face and shaved him without him needing to move his head (maybe). Dude looked like he didn’t even notice it was finished so did he even feel it?
I like how different his style is. While the french guy is doing as he goes along Todd just looks at him, identifies what he has to do, and does it as consiely as possible
@@aperson6500 - Yeah, watching him plan out his shave was also a nice touch. You see him angle the blade around his face, thinking about the fastest and smoothest route for himself and his client. And if you listen to the scraping sounds, he did it in like ten swipes.

I love this scene because it mirrors with how Sweeney kills his victims. He spends a long time leading up to the kill, savoring the moment. And when the kill happens, it's quick an quiet rather than loud and nasty.

A clue that Pirelli's not really Italian: he uses the Italian Flag as a Barber's apron - a clear sign of disrespect.
Another plot-hole: No British would go around in Victorian era England showing off that he's close with the Pope. The Brits used to hate the Pope - in fact on 5th of November, the Brits would burn a straw doll of the Pope, not Guy Fawkes.

It doesn't surprise me that the Italian guy recognized Sweeney. The guy was taught by what seemed to be the best in town and obviously he was good enough of a barber to become as famous and rich as he was so it makes sense that the one guy to best him was the very man who trained him.
This alliance between Tim burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter is fantastic. The synergy between them is extraordinary

He did however, have a similar last name, and religious ethnicity to the real Jack the Ripper. He was a distraction, just as Jack Sparrow here is the wrong Jack. His freind “Cohen” he is competing with on the screen, does seem to resemble a better fit, for the most probable suspect, for the true Jack the Ripper, David Cohen AKA Nathan Kaminski .

You know, Johnny Depp has always played the weird characters in my experiences-Sparrow, Wonka, Hatter, Edward, even Grindelwald was a bit up there. But man, I haven’t even seen this movie and I think this is the first time a Depp character has ever come off as _chilling._ Seriously, what’s with this? He seems almost normal, but there’s this _edge_ that makes me want to find cover and find it fast.
An actor kinda flexes with whatever work they're given. The fact that he can make us feel that chill when his character is meant to be chilling is just testament to his acting ability. :3
Cry Baby, Ed wood also. So many iconic characters. He never wanted to be typecasted into one role, so he went from one extreme to another.
Guy has a wide range, he can act as a heartthrob like in Cry Baby to a skilled action star in Once Upon a Time in Mexico and the Tourist.
That moment when you realize the person Pirelli was shaving is now half shaved.
This just shows how much of an expert barber Sweeney is. He knows how to use the blade to slit the person's throat, but also push it not too hard but hard enough for it to shave very smoothly.

This scene always reminds me the one in Raiders of the Lost Ark, where Indiana Jones fights against a guy who shows off his sword fighting abilities, and then Indy merely shoots at him without second thought.
I love this clip, the music the sounds I'm addicted to it.
Although Johnny Depp's scene time were brief here, his face throughout the scene told everyone to not waste his time and let him win already.
One of my favourite moments in the movie. Not only is the music pleasant but also nobody gets killed. Well, if you overlook poor Toby's fingers being continuously cut with the razor.
