    I have a BMW X1 if you put it in sport mode the ac blows colder. Works in Mini Coopers as well. Love my X1 but miss my Mini.

    Thank you so much for this video. I had no clue if there was anything extra you had to do while in sport mode. So I’m correct in saying that you just flip it in sport mode and drive like normal and the car drives different?

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  4 года назад +2

      Glad I could help! You are correct. It is just a way to make your car feel a little "Sportier", it shifts later, the throttle reacts quicker, and the steering tightens up more to make it feel more "direct". I find myself using it when I want to merge on the highway, pass someone, or just for some spirited driving.

    Mi coche es un mini cooper s R56 2010 y es cambio automatico igual que el del video , pero no tiene boton sport. Hace la misma función el botón sport que la palanca de cambios en D/S ?

      Did it happen?? I really need an explaination on the gears, I know nothing about driving in manual mode. Idk if the rules of a regular manual transmission will apply to automatic minis

    can you always drive with sport mode or you can only drive with sport mode for a few minutes ?
    Does sport mode affect the engine badly ?
    thanks a lot

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  3 года назад +7

      If you want, yes you can drive as long as you’d like in sport mode. There won’t be any damage done to the engine, it just will definitely reduce your fuel economy. You’ll be staying in higher gears for longer. Other than that, you won’t have any negative long term effects. Hope that answered your question! :)

      @@Jpk516 I recently started using sports mode on my 2008 mini and a couple days later my engine light turned on saying “increase emissions” could sports mode be the reason ??

      @anag3948 sport mode affects the air fuel ratio but you could have a dirty maf sensor or a pcv valve...

    Why does my 2011 automatic cooper s doesn’t have a sport button?

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  3 года назад +1

      If I remember correctly, for a while the Sport button was actually an option. Honestly, you have a Cooper S, which is already way sportier than my little base Cooper. Try putting it in the manual mode on the automatic shifter like I did on the video. It might achieve the same result :)

    for my 09 r56s after installed sports mode i only have tighter steering and faster throttle, but I did not get any pop and bangs...?? why?

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  3 года назад

      Sometimes (totally dependent on the model year) there are no pops and burbles :( totally based on luck. Certain model years have pops and bangs and some don’t.

    Hi bro just want to ask. If you're accidentally press the paddle shifter on the mini. Can you turn off the manual mode by yourself? Since you mention it will turn it off automatically. Just curious if you could turn it off by yourself if you accidentally press the paddle shifters. Thanks

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  3 года назад +2

      Sam Lee So if you accidentally push one, it’ll downshift or up shift for about 10 seconds (at the absolute longest) and then go back to normal. If you want to go back to auto quicker, I found if you push the shifter into D/S and then back to D, it’ll go back to automatic immediately.

    Does a 2003 mini cooper s have sport button ?

    • @Jpk516
      @Jpk516  3 года назад +1

      Majd BHS It does not. If your ‘03 Cooper S is an automatic, you can put it into the m/s mode, like I showed in the video, and you can manually shift. But there is not a Sport mode for your mini.

      Ive got a 2013 manual, and when i put it into Sport mode, the car drives like a whole different vehicle...basically going from gear 1,2, 4....gas milages goes to shit though

    • @pharaoh6977
      @pharaoh6977 5 месяцев назад

      Some people don't want that and that's OK. They want a car with options. Sometimes I don't feel like shifting so I go into regular drive mode . That's not an option for a fully manual transmission

  • @robertdaone
    @robertdaone 3 года назад

    Hate the design. My mind is used to pushing up to up shift and pulling down to down shift, it just makes more sense. The way the mini is set up its totally the opposite and hard for me to get used to and makes no sense. But informative video though.

      Robert Daone I agree. It’s definitely a learning curve coming from another car! Thanks for the watch!

      It mimics a sequential transmission used in race,drift and rally cars. So they did not make up this patern.
