Tom, you're like the Grandfather that I never had. I love all your videos and recommendations, as well as, the quick replies. You're a treasure on this side of RUclips. Keep up the good work, sir.
Wow! Thanks for watching and supporting! I appreciate the kind words
Talk about timing. I saw this today and was waiting for a review. Of course all I had to do was wait for you. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for Watching! Works very well!
I just discovered your channel and I didn't have a clue about diffuser plates for the Weber Kettle till now. This is something I will be researching. I'm "up here" in Eau Claire, WI and use the Slow n Sear along with their Drip n Griddle pan which I love.
The Drip n Griddle pan would work great with the diffuser. It would keep grease and liquids from dripping down into the Weber. Heck, I could buy another drip n griddle pan and cook more foods at once. Never enough accessories for the Weber!
Great video!
Thanks for Watching! Appreciate the feedback
Looks great really like the idea!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for buying and reviewing this product Tom! Now I feel the urge to buy this accessory. ;p
Thanks for watching Rob! Enjoy!
That's a brilliant idea. Just what I need for my Weber Performer! Looks like a great setup for pizza, as well
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Tom! I appreciate you showing us your "Vintage Collection" downstairs!
Thanks for Watching! Anytime!
Fantastic!
Thanks for Watching!
Love it! And I have to do your mods. Also love the vintage grills I recognized one that was what we had back when I was a kid. Gotta love your channel..and your wife has to be an angel to put up with all those grills! Keep well and great grilling ahead!
Thanks for Watching Lyndon! Appreciate you watching and supporting!
That's impressive! The Weber Kettle is easily the best cooker...if you can have only one!!
Thanks for Watching! Agreed!
Wow I am so blessed to have found this amazing channel! 😮 Thank you for sharing your experience and wealth of Knowledge. 😊 I will have a much more successful cooks.
You are an awesome teacher.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Very cool Tom
Thanks for Watching Eric!
Tom you are infectuos, I appreciate your enthusiasm. These are great products, I have Onlyfire's rotisserie/ pizza ring for my kettle. This is a keeper if I didn't have a Louisiana Grills komado
Thanks for watching Paul! Appreciate the feedback and support!
You're a wealth of knowledge! I just picked up the onlyfire pizza/rotisserie and i love it, including those clips.
I will bbq into the winter up north, if can be tough to maintain decent temps and i fly through fuel compared to summer. Ill have to try this out.
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy
The Tonka Truck grills are the kind my dad had he made a lot of ribs on that thing. That was back in the 60s
Thanks for Watching Robert! Appreciate the feedback.. Good Memories!
nice upgrade to a kettle! I was looking at that burnt orange Weber today... Again. I'm prolly going to get it eventually
Thanks for Watching Rob! The burnt orange is too nice to cook on…..Enjoy!
I have bought the firebox as well , I have used it with the snake method 2+1 , I have started the fire and put the lid on when I had 6 to 8 briquettes lit , it took 90minutes to get up to temp of 225F , once it got there and the whole box was completely warmed up it was very easy to control the temps , i kept it between 225 and 250 , it ran for about 9 hours from lighting to when I took the short ribs off with great results and got about 25% of the briquettes left at the end , so I would say you could easily do a 12- 14 hour cook , especially if you use a 2+2 snake , then maybe 16-18 hours of low and slow. I am not very experienced , but it seems very practical and economical as far as fuel consumption , the other thing I noticed was the fact that after the cook I shut the wents completely and after 2 hours of sitting outside in only 3 degrees Celsius which is 37F the kettle was still luke warm on the outside which tells me the heat loss is a lot less with the firebox , when I have done the same test without the firebox and much warmer 15 degrees Celsius/ 60F outside the kettle was completely cold in less than that.
In my opinion , its definitely a good addition and not a gimmick for a fraction of the price of a kamado style cooker , next time I will try the minion method and see if it takes less time to heat up as the heat source will be right under the deflector stone and the heat won't bypass it on the side , or start the snake with more lit briquettes.
Thanks for your video .
P.s , it lets me use most of the surface of my cooking area , and I had space for a inch tall round stainless steel drip tray between the stone and grate that was the same size as the deflector stone that I filled with hot water for moisture and it kept the firebox clean of all the grease as well.
Thanks for watching! Very detailed analysis! Appreciate the feedback! Thanks!
Ive got to go back and watch your mod video for that shelf.. then buy this setup for my anniversary edition kettle!
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
Thank you of i go to buy one now
I would buy another if it were made like my parents 1949 model. Heavy gauge spun metal cover and base, Legs were enameled pipe welded on. They never fell off when you picked it up or moved it. ..
I was outside for 20 years with no cover . Now they been attacked by they cost cutters and they are junk.
Thanks for watching Ronald! Appreciate the feedback
that Dr. Pepper kettle looks so sweet...
Yes it Does! Thanks for Watching!
Good video! I ordered a set through your link.
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
How do you like the firebox?
I just purchased and tried it along with the OF smoker chamber attachment and the spider venom. WOW, the three are a great combo, made a few ribs and the bark and tenderness were amazing. I set the temperature at 250 and it rarely fluctuated, when I opened the chamber the temperature would set within minutes.
I did not use a water pan, not sure if I need one but I will try it this week. I would recommend all three products if you already have a kettle and want elevate it.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback, great idea using it with Venom!
Looks like another successful cook Tom.. GR8 job.. I just ordered the akorn version of this onlyfire fire bowl. I wonder if it'll make that much of a difference in cooking.. anywhoo. Thanks again for th vid
Thanks for Watching Peter! Enjoy!
They also make one to use in the AKORN. It replaces the inner steel tub.
Thanks for Watching Steven! Appreciate the feedback
This looks like a very effective upgrade 🤔
Thanks for Watching Jeff! I agree!
Tom, could you try this in combination with their grill cooking smoker attachment, and see if you could do few pork butts, and/or briskets ,without adding additional charcoal?
It is pretty sad that I now watch Tom Horseman before church, but the clocks went back an hour today for daylight savings and you bought the accessory I want to get for Christmas. My thinking behind the OnlyFire ceramic inset for the Weber (which is why I want it) is to continue to build out my Weber further as you saw in my home video (Inspired by the KJ Kettle Joe). So I am planning on not using the grate above the fire, but going, OF ceramic, OF plate setter, OF version of the slow roller, and OF smoke chamber. I am hoping it will preserve the charcoal which the smoke chamber burns through quickly, but because of the slow roller and the long barrel of the smoke chamber acting like a chimney, I will have excellent draw so fantastic convection. I hope that makes sense? If Santa delivers this Christmas I will link a home video so you can see it (I havn’t hung the chicken drums on the OnlyFire hanger I said I was going to do, but I will link that also to show you)! Tom, I noticed you opened the bottom vent and controlled it from the top. Most of us these days go the other way around. I have never tried it the way you did it and was wondering why you made that choice and what the difference is. I never tried as I worried it would reduce the draw and inhibit bark and smoke ring formation - it certainly didn’t in your video! What are your thoughts? Right, I’m off to church.
Thanks for Watching Dan! Sounds like you have awesome plan for the 22”. Can’t remember who suggested leaving bottom vent open and controlling just with the top, but it’s easier and as you saw, it works. Enjoy!
I really like the functionality of the Only Fire products. A shame they make very very few for the 26". As always great review.
Thanks for Watching Paul!
Great overview Tom! I've been waiting for something like this for a while, surprised it took this long to be honest.
What I like: the fit of curved tiles within a wire frame is brilliant, keeps them all together, and the price tor this fit and finish is tremendous value; other companies would charge double if not more for the same thing.
What I don't like: I wish they cut the tiles to be a bit shorter because the cooking grill needs to be raised. Sometimes I have a big cook and use a second raised grill, but the weber lid isn't that tall, so this puts food on that second grill higher up, either not fitting beneath the lid or too close to the lid, where it's a lot hotter, effecting the cook.
Also, I've read those tabs that raise the cooking grill are not that secure and sometimes fall into the kettle.
Tom, do you know if the weber char-ring and diffuser plate fits with these ceramic plates also in the kettle, with enough space to allow smoke to move through? I'm not talking about the flimsy heat controller that you have to put together but the setup they now call the "Low & Slow Kit" on the weber website. I'd prefer the ability to have the cooking grill at the original height with the ability to still fit a drip/water pan underneath, hence the diffuser plate.
Love your videos and your down-to-earth demeanor!
Thanks for Watching! The Low and Slow kit will not fit
There in the UK too 👍🏻
Thanks for Watching Jim! Good to know
Now that's cool! Do you have a video that shows that hinge? Well done sir.
Thanks for Watching!…ruclips.net/video/ovXCVzfMQMU/видео.htmlsi=49B-N9XSgy2YEysY. This I think gives info on it, not sure if I ever made video
I am enjoying ur videos ! waiting longer videos please.
Thanks for Watching Ben!
You’re not far from us. I’m interested in giving this a go. I have the slow n sear setup in my kettle. And I also use their carbon steel flat top insert.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!
Tom, try this with the Viper!!
Thanks for Watching Paul! Good idea!
Looks delicious Tom. Just goes to show that smoked meat doesn't lend itself to cooking on a schedule.
Thanks for Watching! Agreed!
Hi Tom, I am a new sub to your channel. You won me over with all of your interesting videos of accessories we can use to modify our grills. Will this Onlyfire accessory also fit the 22 inch S & S Grill?
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Haven’t tried that yet, it’s on the list…
I love your vids, Tom! You're really tempting me to get out my old Weber Kettle with this Komado Style insert! Looks like the snake would go 12 hours! I have the original Ash (bowl? Plate?) on it, but I would love to have one with that cup/handle style. Is there a kit to make that change, so I don't have to buy a new one?
Thanks for watching! Not aware of any kit
Great video, it reminds me a lot like the Kettle Joe, which I purchased on Facebook marketplace for 75% retail.
Would love that concave bottom basket for the snake method
Thanks for watching Tony!
I need it for the 26"
Thanks for Watching!
Love your videos! Quick questions, with all the BBQ's that you have, do you even have enough room at home to store all them? Plus if there all not being used, wouldn't it be worth selling off any that aren't in use?
Thanks for Watching! Are you interested?
I’m tempted, I suppose you could leave the lower bit in all year round (without the top plate) and use it as a normal hot grill too? Can’t see it using up too much space and sacrificing and room on the grill
Thanks for Watching Tom! I agree
Thank you for this demonstration. Just bought on and used it for kabobs and chicken.
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
Hello. Such nice grills you have. How old is the oldest? Great video you made. Can you show more about the ceramic grill? How long does it take before the heat is 300f?/Peter from Sweden.
Thanks for Watching Peter! My oldest is 1950’s Buffalo Forge Grill Air Grill that I’m currently restoring. 300 on the ceramic 20-30 minutes
Hi Tom. I’m a newbie to BBQ’ing - only used my 22" Weber the once and recently purchased the firebox. Intend to use my firebox for the first time this week to cook a couple of 5lb pork shoulder joints. I’ll try the snake method - just wanted to check if you kept the bottom vent open for the entire cook?
Thanks for watching! As long as your lid is relatively tight, yes, I control the temp with the top vent only
Hi Tom, that's a great accessory. Does it fit the SNS kettle grill that you have in the collection? That would be good to know for the SNS grill fans
Thanks for Watching! I’ll need to try that out, good question
Great question! I’m considering the SNS kettle!
Have you seen or used that weber accessory called the All in 1 for 22inch. Think it comes out of Canada
Thanks for Watching! I’ll look into it
hi im in england uk and would love to learn more i saw some spray fat duck fat is it available in the uk where pls and the kit for you conversion is it possible to obtain in england uk pls
Thanks for watching! I don’t know
is this kit able to buy in england uk pls
Got it on Amazon
Hey Tom, great video! I have the Only Fire pizza attachment and was wondering if you think I can accomplish the same thing you did here with it?
Thanks for watching Tony! This isn’t the pizza attachment
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Hey Tom, thanks for the reply, and yes it's the pizza oven attachment which raises the grill height. Looks like I can accomplish what you did in this video with the pizza attachment, just wanted your opinion.
And I still don’t understand how the pizza oven attachment is the same as the attachment shown in this video
Tom, do you think this basket will work in conjunction with this only fire grate system?

Thanks for Watching! What you sent didn’t come through, if I think what you are describing, I think it will
Tom in your opinion do you prefer this over the Weber version? Or the heat beacon? I am looking at the three and trying to figure which one would be best as I don’t see a reason to buy all three. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for Watching! I would choose the heat beacon over the Weber, but this is totally different, meant to mimic a ceramic grill
Slick set up. Clearly the ceramic bowl heat with heat retention. I think you would have burned through all the charcoal without that basket.
Thanks for Watching Ted! Agreed!
😉
Just went to order one, they are unavailable on Amazon . Looks like a great product. What do you use to kept your kettles looking brand new. Thanks Tom
Thanks for Watching John! Gel gloss on the outside, bio safe cleaner on the inside. And if you never cook on them, they don’t get dirty…….
I’d really love to know if this works on the SNS kettle
Thanks for Watching! I’ll need to check that out
Tom, did you use the ash basket right out of the box, or did you do a burn in first?
Thanks for Watching Dennis! Washed the metal parts first.
Can you try using this with the spider venom?
Thanks for Watching! Good idea
Tom how does this compare to Kamado Joe Kettle with Slow roller
Thanks for watching! Video coming soon…
Stainless can be magnetic and non magnetic.
Thanks for Watching! Lower grades can be magnetic you are correct
What size water pan is that?
Thanks for watching! 14” x 14”
Kinda like a Kettle Joe, except better! I was pretty disappointed in the build of the Kettle Joe. Only Fire has a winner with this thing!
Thanks for Watching Allen! Agreed!
I saw a video of yours where you explain what product you use to polish the outside of your kettles but now I can’t find it. Can you remind me what you use?
Thanks for Watching! Gel-Gloss
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ thank you!
Hey can this fit in the Recteq bullseye deluxe to make it more efficient
Thanks for Watching! I don’t think so
Thank you love your videos
Thanks for watching! Haven’t tried it but I don’t think it work with the diffuser!
Tom Türkiye'den selamlar. Onlyfire firebox kit sence pizza yapımında yüksek derecelere çıkmamız da yardımcı olurmu? Benim bu ürünü almak istememdeki ana neden pizza. Amerika'ya selamlar..🔥👍
Video is 3 months old… I assume this is now a $400 mod due to inflation 😂 looks awesome though, I gotta get one of these
Thanks for watching!
Nope still 100
I don't see it on their website and Amazon doesn't carry it any longer
Thanks for watching Michael! It’s on Amazon, I just looked, but it’s currently unavailable, I’d check back every couple of days if you are serious about this
How long ago did you purchase this? Amazon shows currently unavailable
Thanks for watching Larry! September, I’ve been told that it will be back in stock soon
Thanks for the reply, this looks like a great product for the Weber. Have you looked at the "Kenmeister Chef Stainless Steel Kettle Grill Smoking Kit with 15" Pizza Stone". It looks like the Kettle Joe sloroller. Have you done a review on this or even run across it yet? @@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
@larryboyer Thanks for Watching Larry! Haven’t seen it….
@larryboyer just ordered Larry, not really like the slow roller since it’s almost at charcoal level, intended more for infrared type cooking. We shall see.. Thanks for the tip!
