Get seat rail extenders for the cobra. I'm 6'2 and they made my 94 cobra way more comfortable.

My mom lives 60 miles from Bowling Green over in Owensboro. I live in Detroit. Also im 2 weeks from a 60 day order where i lose my home and everything ive ever owned because of a stiuation where i got scammed and ripped off. Also also im 55 years old with health problems and dont know how to start over at this point.
Watching people go on a Power Tour takes me back to 1990 when the first time i drove my 70 442 that was then running 11.80s and my best friend and me headed out from west side Detroit to Indy. I just went thru the motor that week before and rings were not happy or seated yet. We took the slow way, M-12 mich ave all the way out to coldwater michigan and i was constantly pushing the throttle. Used a whole a-body tank of gas for about 80 miles. Stopped to fill it up again and hit i-69 south to Indy. Struggling with the throttle and keeping speed till the state line...somewhere in upper indiana all the sudden the engine started to sound and act normal. I was accelerating then letting off as the rings got happy. Suddenly i was backing off to maintain 70mph...and that was with 4.30 gears out back in the 12 bolt and 29in street tires. Gas mileage went from 2-4 mpg to 10mpg. That engine found its happy home. Rest of the trip was sorta like this...
I had a frame off new floorboards and detailed undercarriage with what looked like a barn find faded and rusted body. Such a thing is so popular today but not so much in early to mid 90s. Actually all thru the 90s, the "barn find look" was not a thing yet. Everybody looked at us funny but i did have an 11 second 3900 pound car. We were easily pushing 4400 with all our gear. The car did huge burnouts in front of the hotels we stayed. Ended up going from indy to Chicago the next morning. We were in the middle of all these cool cars. We were having a good ole time, thats for sure. Got to chicago and in the hotel i actually got to meet and talk with Gray Baskerville from Hot Rod magazine fame. His stories influenced my life up to that point because of my age. Anyway, we partied pretty hard that night and 530am came really early, kinda brutal. We were on the road from Chi town to Mt Clemens Michigan, east side of Detroit from where i live. We were nowhere southern Michigan cruising along about 65, my best friend snoring away in the passenger seat. All the sudden who came up on us in left lane? It was that feller named Nick Scavo driving that wicked 1965 black Impala with the nitrous 7 sec column shift car. Thats what I remember the most about that car was the way he fabbed a stock looking column shift lever to control the car...sure it was co2 shifted in race mode but had it set up reverse pattern when shifted manually. Believe it or not my 70 442 originally came with bucket seats, no console, and a column shift. Ive always wanted to re-incorpoate that set up in my car....but anyway, here is this magazine 1000+hp beuatiful car pacing us in nowhere michigan... remember this was mid 1990s...we were trying to talk thru open windows and the passenger, cant remember his name but he was big into the chicago street race scene, i think it was Chuck Samuels...anyway he was banging away on a laptop during this whole freeway conversation. They were obviously ok and just asking if we were, which we were. My friend slept thru this whole ordeal, lol.
We made the trip, we were burnt to a crisp after just two legs of the power tour way back when it started. And thats my story. Only wish i was either that young again or had my health back, either way would be fine.
Y'all have fun on your trip! Bowling Green is an awesome track with their covered grandstands. You might should go see Mammoth cave before you leave!

Power tour isn’t really a drag and drive. More of a traveling car show, but I’m down to watch them do a drag and drive too👍
