There seems to be quite a bit of misinformation going around so I'll try to correct it. The 2p coin from 1971 has NO value, it is regular 2p, there's noting special about it at all, the 2p coin with value is from 1983 with the words "new pence" on them as in 1982 they replaced the "new pence" on the coins with just "two pence". However a small number of coins where mis-stamped in 1983 with the words "new pence" on them, find those and then you're in the money.

I'm from the UK, i noticed many people are saying they have 1971 2 pence coins and want to sell them, they are only worth their face value as there are literally mill;ions in circulation still to this day. The only 2p that has a high value to collectors is the 1983 2p that has the words new pence on the reverse, instead of two pence. some went into circulation before they realized the mistake. Collectors will pay around £2000 for one of these coins.

@@johnprichard572 the New Pence was dropped in favour of Two pence in 1981 but due to a mistake in the mint some 1983 2p coins were stamped using the New Pence die these were only in year sets but worth watching in change as some people break the year sets and spent the coins

The Pennies and 2p's from the 1970's and 1980's were made of Copper (97%), not Bronze.
