In order for Marta to expand into Cobb county and Gwinnett county voters and taxpayers have to vote and pass the 1 cent sale tax just like the taxpayers in Fulton and Dekalb taxpayers have been paying since MARTA inception on 1971 and Clayton county taxpayers since 2014

As of today, Marta doesn't cover all of the Atlanta metropolitan region areas of combined statistical population of 7,200,000 people. In the near future, the surrounding suburban counties that have voted not to join or be a part of the Atlanta principle public transport operator MARTA, all will vote to join/be a part.
