A big round of applause for taking a stand on price gouging and the current pricing trends we are witnessing. We all need to make our voices and dollars heard. Thanks Gentlemen.
❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
It’s disgusting here in St.Pete Beach Tampa Bay Area Lou! U wouldn’t believe the prices in a retail store, they’re secondary market prices.
It's so sad Angelo, how some retailers can get away with this
Ocho Puntas 2023 should be coming out real soon. Ive been looking, lol!
Same
Thank you both for having a voice for all of us derelicts! Ha! I got in to collecting tequilas 4-5 years ago. If the powers that be keep driving the prices astronomically high, you'll only shun the clientele that brought you to the point of where you're at.
Amen on calling out the retailers ripping off the public! I’ve noticed the price increases at Total Wine on anything not from their Spirits Direct line
Thanks for your honesty, Lou and Graig to point out these ridiculous prices by retailers ! The import prices to Europe are enormous at itself. For example; I got a Fortaleza Blanco for 65,- euro's including shipping and tax online in The Netherlands. It's about $70,- Some people are just for the money only, like those retailers who see your reviews and go up the prices.😤
Greetings from Holland,
Frank
People need to rise up and start exposing a lot of this, and so sorry you have to deal with these import prices. It's great to hear from you Frank.
That's nice of you Lou, thanks !❤
Love This !! you two are the BEST reviewers HANDS DOWN on RUclips,,,,, man oh man do I want BOTH bottles, I see alot aftermarket sellers but I'm so nervous cause I don't know any of them, I don't want to get ripped off.
11 brixs & '21 &/or '23 omg I want so bad.
God Bless Guys. Have a outstanding Monday.
Huge Fan outta the 413 Massachusetts
Peace Out & ¡SAULD!
Thank you so much Donald
I have both and they are both good. Its hard to compare them, I have a oz of each and just compare the differences really.
Love this video
I know Greg didn't want to say Fortaleza Anejo was going for 200 but the new lot wasn't anything to write home about. The spike in retail and secondary prices is why I love hunting the old dusty bottles. Most of which are better drinkers then the new hyped kid on the block.
But I'm a drinker...
May need to let it sit in the bottle awhile. 65A is legit
Just got lot 65A for 99 each plus tax.
Great job guys, saludos from Guadalajara!!!
Hola❤️
I just finished watching this terrific video.
You two should take your show on the road! LOL
You guys are so good together... anyhow that was a terrific review. I have my feelers out trying to get the brix 11
I have the puntas I was able to pick that up for like 90 or 95 bucks in a local store believe it or not about 7-8 months ago. I got very lucky
anyhow be well guys and have a great summer
Brett
Thanks, you to Brett
Speaking the truth, guys! The prices have gone out of control. It would be one thing if the amazing people making this stuff benefitted from it…
Scoured the island to get a couple bottles of Puntas for under $100 before all the retaliates caught on, but looks like I just won’t be tasting the Brix 🥵
So Sick of the price gouging and on some brands it seems all these special runs are the excuse to have outrageous prices and I agree I refuse to over pay for things and some rare things I come across I won't buy nor will I shop at places they clearly overcharge, that's just it like you guys and everyone on here said we have to stand up and not pay these prices!
I have three of the 11 cascahuin. I’m stocked up for a while
I have three or four myself, there's some more upstairs. Imo.. maybe the best Blanco ever created

I collect a very few brands...but even some of them I won't pay the exorbitant prices for special editions, etc. For the most part I stick with my tried and true favorites that are still affordable in my area. Unfortunately the market will always work that way. Supply and demand. I, for instance, live in the middle of the US and absolutely cannot find many good brands like Fortaleza, Cascahuin, etc, etc. could go on and on. If I'm not willing to pay either an online retailer or a secondary market seller, I'm out of luck if I want to partake. Luckily, for the most part I've been able to find decent scores. I overpaid a little bit for the Lagrimas recently, but again, I'll never see that brand here locally so what am I gonna do...I'm a sucker for single estate stuff!
Fortaleza blanco selling for 159.00 in a liquor store in DC. I would love to try it but not at that price
Can't blame you there
It's not in any way, shape or form worth remotely that much.
Lou I think the best way to look at this is the is the way you spoke of cerro de luz, if I recall your original review you spoke about paying 200 a bottle and that being crazy. Brix is a limitted release one and done and puntas is part of the coho catalog. I wouldn’t pass on the brix due to fear of what happened to cerro de luz. I recently paid 500 for a cerro de luz which was a “good price”
As far as the jacking of the prices it’s the same as bourbon although the distilleries don’t directly profit they do get PR, look at the news articles about people camping out for specialty bourbon like pappies. Greg mentioned his cost would be under 100 and they sell for close to 1k, that’s free PR. The big bourbon companies are now slowly jacking up prices from the distillary, hopefully this doesn’t happen with tequila.
Let's hope not, but I think it's a very good possibility
Well guys...EXACTLY!
And while we hate what's going on in the greedy retailers minds, we kinda, and begrudgingly understand it....BUT TO A POINT.
I had many a heated discussion with the owner of the most recent store I worked (not Manhasset - Young's is still reasonable on pricing)... his pricing on many of these hard to get, allocated items were way too high.
Not nice.
I'm sure he pissed off many a customer, including me.
Sad that some retailers mark any of these products up 100% or 200%. I Never did that when I was in business. We see that problem with some retailers, and Fortaleza when it's available. I refuse to shop anywhere that price gouges their customers.
Me2
I won’t mention the nationwide retailer’s name, but a sales rep told a friend that Cazcanes raised their prices by 25% which is false! JP confirmed Cazcanes has never raised their price.
Glad to hear, because it's already a little bit pricey
Hey Lou based off secondary pricing brix is at 250 and puntas at about 200
I think we're going to start seeing brix go higher than that
How does this compare to Calle 23 criollo?
Criollo is my favorite bv the thinnest of hairs, but these are the newer superstars, and very comparable. Criollo has been out a couple of years already. They are all basically tied for me, with Criollo and brix at the top
Absolutely getting gouged in western Canada on any good tequilas. Plus we have a small selection of good ones and huge selection of crap! Distilleries must send a message and stop supplying retailers that are doing this?
Yes they definitely should, they should punish them for doing this
come to mexico and get both of them for around $200
Absolutely, I'll be back for my fourth time in a few weeks.
We have to stop the insanity.
Great video Lou and I support the message. But question, where does the terralta 110 land between these or ca you even compare?
Actually that's one of the steals of the century and it's excellent tequila, and you know... it's very close to these guys
@@longislandloutequila7208 that’s great to hear because I just finally got my hands on one of them bottles and I am really looking forward to popping that bottle soon. Is terralta añejo any good?
@rawtruthisahardpilltoswall6180 - of course it's great. I always prefer the Blanco myself.. especially the 110
@@longislandloutequila7208 thanks Lou, I have so many questions I want to ask but I’ll wait. I appreciate you for taking the time.
