He was told he shouldn't go to Vietnam because the Vietcong had a bounty on his head because they really considered him to be a powerful threat. I saw that on an interview. My uncle was there in 66 also. Just lost him to lung cancer believed to been caused from agent orange. Thank you for your service sir!!! ✌🏻🇺🇸

Watching his movies always made me feel good inside. My favorites are McClintock and The quiet Man, but I've loved each and every movie I've ever seen of him. I still remember the day he died. I was playing cards with friends when it came over the radio. I cried like I knew him personally.❤

I've loved John Wayne for as long as I can remember. I started to get my children to watch his movies. My youngest said that North to Alaska is her favorite. I don't have a favorite cause I love them all. I was devastated when he past away. What makes my blood boil is him being canceled. On a lighter note I bought one of his cookbooks and it's filled with pictures and movie trivia. RIP Duke.

I was very young when he passed and upon asking my mother what the cayse was she answered that it was cancer. At the time I was too young to understand what cancer was so my mind replaced the word with cactus, something I was familiar with. For the life of me, I could not figure out how a cactus kills and could only imagine a terrible horseback accident involving a mighty Saguaro.

I had many favorites, stagecoach, the man who shot Liberty Valence, Donavon’s reef ( for fun & laughs), many westerns & true grit because I had read about the story first. FGD on the Topic of John Wayne or aka ( Marion Micheal Morrison). I was Born a Baby of the late Boomer's generation. Both My Parents were Fond John Wayne Fan's. Although My Father was a much more devoted Fan of the Two of them. With My Mom it was a more Mild or fun casual appreciation of the iconic Actor's Screen persona.
As for His Politics & Opinions, I never tried, or Asked either of Them about those Type's of thing's, cuz it Was sorta hush hush except in Active Election Year's. After we had returned to the US. After Many Year's living in Canada, where I was a Dual Citizen of both Nation's. Thus My POV'S and Opinions were Very Self consciously held guarded or Not approached at All.
That all being Said I'm very Aware that Mr Wayne was known too be quite Outspoken in His latter Year's & His long running Career too Say what He believed & most especially what He Thought about pretty much any & all thing's, He was questioned about near the End. At last this is my Closing Moment too End this Comment up.
After His Remarks pertaining too His Battles with Cancer. I personally Believe that they Really and Truely Helped. The many Thousands of future Victims of that Ugly Disease Cope, Settle and Make Thier Final Choice's or Thier Decisions on How too Deal with The Final Outcome's that They were then Facing.
I came too these Conclusions, idea's & My final ideals of Facing Death☠️💀 in 1995 When My Own Dear Mother was Given the Very same Choices as Mr Wayne had been Given Twenty years Earlier. For My Dear Mom's sake. She had been raised as a Staunch Catholic, in Her adolescent years. Her Final Call was That if it Was Her Time to Go? Then So Be it? Fine She Said, it Was to Be That Way. Well this is My View of John Wayne? He Was A Great Strong American, Icon, Who through His long Memeorable Life, made it easier & possible for Others too Speak Up or Face Oh So Many Different issues and Thing's in This World 🌎🌍 of Ours. Pardon Me for My Long gasping Windedness Here. But Thanks for Sharing, and also Allowing Comment.

My dad was a great John Wayne fan but I had no desire to watch his movies even though I like old west movies and I could never give a reason for my disinterest, but I found later that he was a complete bigot and not a nice person at all in real life so now I know that my feeling of disinterest was a completely intuition of his true self.
