MR PAT I could listen to you for ever. I bought your book just started on it . Your stories remind me of when i was a kid listening to my dad and his friends i grew up in lufkin texas and hunted all my life well till i joined the army. i also work for the patrol in falfurrias and have a friend you may know Juan Perez. He has told me some of the stories I have heard you tell and I always though it was just talk. I had to apologize to him for not fully believing him especially the story of the father and son disappearing on the ranch. Any way I just wanted to say thank you for what you do and god bless.

Thank you for the nice feedback. It was my intention to write those stories down before I checked out so folks could understand what it was like those many years ago. For us, it was a way of life. That is how us poor folks got our venison before the laws were changed.

What brought that memory back its that way. I when we lose one of the older ones we lose a library of history if we don't spend i lot of time listening to them..

Great story Pat! TN has a velvet buck hunt in the last week end of august and I have been lucky enough to get a buck every year. I 100 percent agree late august bucks are by far the best eating! I’d rather have a mature early season buck than a young doe in November any day of the week.

Pat, another great story. I was lucky to hunt off 285 in my day down there. Got a nice 10 pointer off the south side of the road across from the windmill at the bend of the road! Keep them coming!

There were two windmills on that road. We identified them as the 1st and 2nd, coming from Falfurrias.
