Thanks for the review! I always value the opinion of a Shining Force super fan

Breath of Fire Dragons quarter had a meter for Ryu. If you over used his dragon powers you would die. If you over used the dragon dash on the over world map it would also rais e this gauge. In my first play through I made it impossible to proceed as I failed to understand the guages explanation text.
Potentially, this is a team variant with a less punishing outcome. It sounds like a great way to make combat engaging.

From what I've heard of that mechanic, it punished you for using the most fun part of the game. Chained Echoes is kind of the opposite.
It's so smartly set up to keep you going and keep you engaged in the action, it was hard to make other videos when I could have been playing this

@@Woodhouse204 I would agree with that concept. Perhaps there were methods to reduce that guage later on but the fun of BoF games is to turn into a fucking rad dragon. Stopping me from being a fucking rad dragon is a crime.
Please sponsor me as I am trying to turn in a fucking rad dragon (patent pending)

Something I've been wondering watching videos on this game is, can you hover over the list of buff/debuffs characters have to told what they are again, or do you just have to recall what each is from when it was used?

When you hover over targets it lists buffs/de buffs on the bottom left. I believe there’s also an LB/Rb option that displays everyone’s on screen at once, though I didn’t really need it

I didn't like this game. Stopped playing shorty after the introduction because the overdrive/overheat mechanic seemed like garbage and made me lose interest.

I disagree that most turn-based combat is boring, but that's coming from someone who is a huge JRPG nerd myself.

Honestly, that was just a hook to get people paying attention - I mean my YT name has RPG in it!
I probably should have put in somewhere how I feel that the genre (in regard to its systems) has been somewhat stagnant but Chained Echoes does an excellent job of spicing things up with its combat mechanics

turn based is boring when it can boil down to whacking weak things so you can whack strong things
