Gworks and Campingmoon make allot of cool adapters. MY favorite is using a butane to lindel adapter so you can use much cheaper butane gas vs those ripoff isobutane cartridges. Many asian food stores have butane cans for like $1.50.
Best adapter ever! Makes it so much more affordable to use the camping stoves. The small canisters are just too expensive to use often vs the Coleman green propane ones you can find anywhere!
I just got mine. Took a one pound green propane bottle from -35•C and it lite right up. Definitely a game changer for winter camping. No more tanks in the crotch area. Thanks for showing us this. I had no idea this existed
I bought one of these on aliexpress for 5 bucks its worked great for 2 years only thing is tho use a camp stove that has a hose so the stove itself is on the ground and not high and unstable. Beats buying butane anyday, a 1lb propane bottle lasts insanely long and that same bottle could be used for a lantern and a torch.
By the way, they make adapters to convert the older Coleman suitcase stoves from Coleman Fuel/Gas/Kerosine to work with propane. AND you can get a hose that will allow you to use THOSE (such as the Coleman 413) w/ the larger propane tanks and that adapter I just spoke of! Nice versatility if you have and/or pickup one of those old stoves on the used market! Hank Hill would be proud!
My dad had one of those adapters for a gasoline Coleman stove years ago. It worked well. However, with or without the adapter, the old stoves had the main burner and then a secondary burner that wouldn’t put out as much heat. The propane stoves have two full heat burners. That’s why I switched from the gasoline stove.
@@markburrell2778 If I remember correctly, everything had the Coleman name on it. Still have the complete stove and burner but if the lpg adapter isn't inside then it is lost with time.
Never fully understood converting a white gas stove to propane, you can get used propane stoves really cheap if you look around. And I've got to imagine they run better on the fuel they were designed for.
This was great! 20 bucks means nothing when it comes to your safety. warmth, and the ability to provide food and safe water for your family! Thanks for the info!
Cool adapter. Suggest you grab a base from a propane lantern to go on the bottom of the 1 lb propane tank to add stability. Also, think you can get a single burner propane stove with a tank base for about what the adapter costs. 😊
I think you hit the nail on the head with that last statement. Also, why would you want to attach a pocket rocket to a propane tank? Propane is a great fuel for longer cook time items, backpacking stoves suck at everything but boiling water.
Its about versatility. I am experimenting with one as i have a few isobutane appliances. Due to cost of fuel and availability in my area make me consider alternatives.
A myriad of these adapters are available on Amazon, Wally's, and Alie Express, to name a few. The price point is all over the place as I'm sure the quality is as well. There are also kits to fill small pressure containers from a 5 gallon propane bottle. (One should do One's homework and observe ALL safety protocol if doing this. Anyway, these adapters give us backpackers, bikepackers and would be campers options for using our equipment. Thanks for sharing............
I got a similar adapter for my kovea spider, for the exact reasons you listed a few years back, also, kovea is the main manufacturer of most of those main brand mini stoves except for gsi, i think they get their stuff made in switzerland? the other companies contract kovea to make them and then they put their own branding on them (msr among others.)
There is one of these adapters to go from just about any of the three gas types to the others. They can be found for around $7 - $20, but can't say anything about quality, though they are probably all made in the same factory and rebranded. I even found one company selling a complete kit of them, but the kit price was on the high end of cost per unit (total $150). They come in handy both from an availability perspective but also in an emergency. I happen to keep this same Propane bottle to Lindahl vale adapter with my remote canister stove. It allows me to get a better burn in the cold than I would with the IsoButane canisters. For the same reasons mentioned in other comments, I would not like to use my direct mount stove on top of the propane bottle without a better base. Been there, done that on the tipping thing, losing all my food when something I thought was stable shifted. Do make sure to check your adapter if you order any. They should have the same standard valves in them as they are converting to, but I have heard of some that completely leak or act like there is no valve when you put them on the fuel vessel. As Aaron mentioned, I wouldn't leave the adapter on the source bottle due to possible leaking.
The one lb propane bottle can be refilled from a 20lb tank, potentially 20 times on one tank with the available adapter. Price of propane recently has almost doubled. Hopefully it will be more reasonable in the future. Cheers.
I just ordered one it's going up a couple bucks. However I have an adapter that I can recharge the green canisters from a larger tank which is a huge savings. So I can use green tanks as a burner and then refill them later. The only thing I worry about it stability. However I have a single burner Heater Buddy it comes with a very huge stabilizing base that the canister goes into. I plan on using this space anytime I use a canister to cook with or use the heater. And if I'm out somewhere and don't have it I might just dig a little hole and half and if I'm out somewhere and don't have it I might just dig a little hole and half Bury the canister. But I thank you for turning me on to this adapter. I usually cook over wood but some places don't have wood I go out there to spend good time not to spend more money than a motel.
This video was a suggested yt video. I like it and will check out some of your other videos. I picked up a Lixada brand adapter a couple of years ago for two reasons 1) To use up some extra propane tanks that I had left over from my car camping days 2) to give me an option for colder weather when the iso/propane mix are not ideal. A couple of issues that I came across and one of them is shown in your video and not discussed. If you use a burner that mounts direct to the canister, the set-up with the adapter and propane tank is tall and very tippy. There are bases available to make them stable (Look at the propane lantern options) My solution was to pick up a slightly larger burner that has a fuel line so I can have the tank off to the side and so I can use a small frying pan with the burner. The other issue is I think the propane might burn hotter as the stove I bought had a piezo switch and the heat from the propane melted it.
Bought a Camp Chef Stryker 200 (Jetboil type stove) a few years ago, it came with an adapter like this. Very handy and useful, I've used it on several other stoves and lanterns with great results.
I prefer using my Kovea propane adaptor with remote canister stoves so they are not so high off the ground. BTW MSR pocket rocket stoves are made by Kovea in Korea.
G'day Aaron, what simple solution, didn't know they existed. Yeah not cheap, but I reckon it'd pay for itself fairly quickly. A 1 lb LPG bottle is the same price, or cheaper, here than a 100 g, canister. Thanks mate, this will be a game changer for certain camping/fishing trips that don't involve too much walking. Cheers Duke.
@@gideonstactical as far as compactness, FlameKing makes a 1/4lb refillable propane cylinder as of recent. I have a few that 4:38 are very compact. Of course you give up volume.
Some iso/pro stoves just don't do well on propane. I grabbed one of them adapters wayyy before covid for around 5 bucks. I do keep around 10 1 lb canisters full that I refill for many uses. Power outages out here in the woods like this week as an example. We also have 2-3 15 lb tanks and a 100 lb'er at all times. You can get a nice 4 burner cooktop to use with 15 lb tanks for less then 75 dollars. We use that and a 2 burner high output burner at our outdoor kitchen.
Wow, if you're saying that little adapter cost about $20 bucks, then I got a great deal on the single-burner backpacking stove I just ordered. I paid $18.79 for Jafaior Portable Camping Stove and it came with that adapter. In fact, the only reason why I ordered this single burner is that it came with the adapter. I am already using the 1 lb. green Coleman propane tank for my dual burner stove. You're right, it's easier to find the 1 lb propane tank than the other type. My single burner is supposed to arrive on Tuesday because I just ordered it a couple of days ago. There are other single burner stoves that also come with the adapter.
I worked for a medium sized chain of large Department stores for 15 years. Technically we were supposed to stock the "iso" cannisters. BUT, in reality? We almost never had them in stock. The supplier only sent us about 8 or 10 at a time. And we offered everything at a discounted price. So, they would always disappear from our shelves in just days! Then, no more shipments for 60 or 90 days!
Dude, you are so late to the party. The trash is being taken out as we speak. I’ve had one for about 4 or 5 years. Bought it on mass drop. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the informative video. I might be a dummy, or maybe I just haven't been following the hobby as closely as I should, but I was always curious about these adapters. Now I know!
The stove i got from academy came with that adapter. I can find the propane bottles anywhere including hardware stores. Cant really find the little fuel cans everywhere all the time.
Suggestion: Because the rig is pretty unstable due to height vs footprint, either dig a hole to sink the green tank into or buy the stabilizer ring for the bottom of the bottle.
They make bases for those propane tanks and you can always prop a few things around to to give it a little more stability, or use the stoves with a small hole to the burner 👍
Next step: Walmart sells an adapter to fill those little green 1 lb. bottles from a 20 lb propane tank. Green bottles cost around 7 dollars, one-time use.

I want to know where the adapter is that’ll allow me to refill the smaller iso tanks with propane.. Fwiw.. Walmart always seems to the iso tanks.. they’re a bit bigger than the tiny msr tanks, but still a whole lot smaller than the big green ones.

mapp gas would be better than propane. it may cost more than propane but it burns cleaner and is still cheaper and hotter than isobutane. i haven’t tried it but the threads are the same, it should work.
Is there an adaptor hose to connect the mini burner directly to a 20lb tank? What would this be called I think the end that fits in the burner is called lindal but i couldn’t find anything only the one that you have there which I have and I can connect to 1lb canisters easily
I have one of the adapters and i love it but i also have a female to female iso connector and butane to iso male adapter which allows me to refill my iso and butane cans with the cheaper propane to help save space in my stanley cook set.
I dont freeze my tanks before refilling with propane. I just connect the adapter(s) and female to female connector to the tanks and let gravity transfer the liquid propane.
The amazon item numbers for my stove setup are b07ftdcmts, b0891lp1j5 , b08rnk968h, & b004ct9hmm. This will all fit inside of a stanley cookset without the tumblers.

These Kovea adaptors are $27. Huge rip off. They are 2 for $8.48 from (INNKER Camping Stove Adapter 2PCS) I tested the INNker brand ones and they work great. Save your money!
My wadeo stove came with the adapter for no extra charge the total cost of the stove as $18.
Very cool I’ve thought of not being able to find fuel for my pocket rocket especially during SHTF cause I only have 2 cans of the fuel the pocket rocket uses 🤔 can I have yours I like free stuff
Thank you 👍.
He didn’t mention refilling a propane tank. It is simply an adapter that allows you to use propane on a backpacking stove.
There are legally refillable one pound propane tanks.
