On May 29, 2024, the Forum des Images at the Forum des Halles in Paris hosted an exclusive evening for the private premiere of the highly anticipated Becoming Karl Lagerfeld series, organized by Club Allociné. Guests were treated to a screening of the first two episodes of this avant-garde series, followed by a Q&A session with the series' principal actors and creators. Created by Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Jennifer Have and Raphaëlle Bacqué, this French production traces the rise of Karl Lagerfeld in the world of Parisian haute couture. Daniel Brühl, known for his roles in Nothing New in the West and Captain America: Civil War, plays Karl Lagerfeld, while Théodore Pellerin plays Jacques de Bascher, the sultry young dandy and Lagerfeld's lover. Arnaud Valois plays Yves Saint Laurent, the haute-couture genius, and Alex Lutz plays Pierre Bergé, the redoubtable businessman. Agnès Jaoui plays Gabrielle Aghion, founder of the Chloé fashion house, and Sunnyi Melles and Paul Spera play Marlene Dietrich and Andy Warhol respectively. Lisa Kreuzer completes the cast as Elisabeth Lagerfeld, Karl's mother.
The series is directed by Jérôme Salle, who helmed episodes 1, 2 and 6, and Audrey Estrougo, in charge of episodes 3, 4 and 5.
