  • Residual chlorine is the amount of chlorine that remains in the water after a certain period or contact time. Residual mean reminder or left. Chlorination is the process of adding chlorine to drinking water to disinfect it. Chlorine added to water as Cl2 gas, sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl) or solid calcium hypochlorite (Ca(OCl)2. Chlorine liberates free iodine from potassium iodide solution in acidic pH. The liberated iodine is determined by titration with standard sodium thiosulphate solution. End of titration determine by starch indicator when color disappear.
The limitation of residual chlorine value must be greater than 0.2mg/l and less than 1 mg/l (0.2mg/l-1mg/l)
