Fantastic! The tempo is correct (compare Fischer-Dieskau and Moore). The Moravian violinist/composer, H.W.Ernst, was considered by many the greatest violinist of the 19th century, after Paganini, by whom, like his good friend Liszt, he was inspired (and later with whom he competed). He introduced new methods for playing polyphonically of which this is a perfect example. Joseph Joachim, certainly no slouch himself, said that Ernst towered above all other violinists he had ever met. Bravo Barati!
Here is part of the review from The Times of London, July 8, 1844, of Ernst's performance of this piece: "In his version of Schubert's "Erl King," which in the programme was stated to be transcribed for the violin alone, he played conjointly , and yet with a distinct independence of each other, the part written for the voice and the elaborate pianoforte accompaniments, giving the former all the expression which a most perfect singer could impart." So, you were saying?
i like this sound this piece is for performing technics but this violinist left brightness in his peformance and the last part is so slow the gap made me cry
OMG this is awesome, however, i like it better slower because you can hear better each voice of the story... and i think thats the fabulous thing about this piece!
@japanesebusinessdood uhhh.... no, his had is not moving faster than the speed of light. That would require literally infinite energy. It's faster than the frame capture rate of the camera
lol. Mega fantastic playing, but it seems like some for some of the triplet sequences, he discarded tempo altogether and tried to play them as fast as humanly possible. Some triplet sequences played more like complex trills instead of notes with tempo.
i liked hilary hahn's better... its like you could hear everything... and u could appreciate what was happening instead of this where it seems just thrown there and rushed ridiculously...
@stino22 sooooooooooo much faster.... i think he had pee or something like that... i don't like the interpretation he makes, some parts of the peace are not clear, in my opinion the best interpretation is what Hilary Hanh makes, you can hear each note.
@ItzhakRoxMySox yeap... Im just giving out my opinion and if you think hahn's better that's fine with me, but looking from the way Kristof plays, he's interpretation isnt as amazing as Hahn's
same gross if I could I would! And if I couldn’t I wouldn’t! If u suck u need ppl to tell u in order to become better . So shut your hole and learn to listen
ceylin kılınç are you aware that it is originally supppsed to be played this fast? Hilaty plays it too slow, it sounds cleaner I agree!! but any piece played slower sounds cleaner :)
He definitely should be more famous! Once I've heard him play live, and I was amazed!
I like how he plays !! he's really good and his techniche too !!
He's the man.
the melody is so clear. amazing how his hands dont get cramped from playing this

0:27-0:31 They are all like "OMG is this happening? You're kidding" hahaha

:D Look at the violinists face at the beginning :D Mr. Baráti says: there comes an easy piece, Schubert-Ernst: Der Erlkönig :d PRICELESS
i like this sound
this piece is for performing technics
but this violinist left brightness in his peformance
and the last part is so slow
the gap made me cry
(speechless).. maybe the best version of this piece..
no context needed here!! this piece is for virtuoso purpuse Only !its Ernst!!.... Who wants to hear shubert should listen the original
Barati's recordings of the Paganini concertos are unsurpassed. Try them.
his other youtube recording of this is a bit cleaner, but this is still awesome. i love the part at 2:36 - freakin inhuman
That was nice and amazing.
technical wizard
spectacular
Hahn's is more accurate in intonation but I love the faster tempo. Regardless, simply phenomenal.
Vietato ai minori di anni 18! Assurdo, grande!!! Keep out from the children! It' s great then ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG this is awesome, however, i like it better slower because you can hear better each voice of the story... and i think thats the fabulous thing about this piece!
Release a video of how you want it played 😍 oh wait..
The rendition of the piece is much more mature than 2 years ago. The melody lines are clearer.
I like it better slower, this is much faster than the original Erlking piece by Schubert.
and you guys know the context of the piece? wow i just love youtube comments...
We must have some amazing virtuosos in the comments. To be giving criticism to someone at this level.
I like it slower, but still, absolutely astounding!!!!!
@japanesebusinessdood uhhh.... no, his had is not moving faster than the speed of light. That would require literally infinite energy. It's faster than the frame capture rate of the camera
Markáns hang,kitűnő technika,nagyszerü dinamika,pompás
ehhez a darabhoz illő,szenvedélyes előadásmód.
Itt még a "nevek" közül is sokan alulmaradnának.
Hát igen! Ezt ígykell játszani.Ítt van tónus.technika,előadásmód,temperamentum.
Ezt a darabot mások megközelitőleg sem tudják így jászani.
wow...
nice
what kind of violin does he have? Is it a stradivari?
lol. Mega fantastic playing, but it seems like some for some of the triplet sequences, he discarded tempo altogether and tried to play them as fast as humanly possible. Some triplet sequences played more like complex trills instead of notes with tempo.
No. it isn't. Listen to the original piece sung by Fischer-Dieskau, for example, and then come back and say that again.
yes your write it does seem more mature.
Wow! The speed's great! Love it more than Hilary Hahn's. And he has nice fingers
The lady in the background on the left looks like she's bored out of her mind... nice interpretation
so fast...
i liked hilary hahn's better... its like you could hear everything... and u could appreciate what was happening instead of this where it seems just thrown there and rushed ridiculously...
It would take me more than 200 hours to learn this - then I would practice it for another 400 hours.
@stino22 sooooooooooo much faster.... i think he had pee or something like that... i don't like the interpretation he makes, some parts of the peace are not clear, in my opinion the best interpretation is what Hilary Hanh makes, you can hear each note.

Far to fast...
too fast.
many mistakes
How about you play it better. Oh ..
same gross if I could I would! And if I couldn’t I wouldn’t!
If u suck u need ppl to tell u in order to become better .
So shut your hole and learn to listen
oh god it was terrible listen hillary hahn version now dont waste time with it..
ceylin kılınç are you aware that it is originally supppsed to be played this fast? Hilaty plays it too slow, it sounds cleaner I agree!! but any piece played slower sounds cleaner :)
