So we’ve been going on and on about cheap guitars.
In the last couple that I’ve demoed It's been hit and miss.
I think I may have been duped on one of them. It was just too good.
So I took it upon myself to find the cheapest guitar I could from
Leo Jaymz on Amazon and open it in the box straight from the truck
to your eyes. I hate to say it, but I’m not getting the same vibes other
    RUclipsrs give out.
Please put all your suggestions for any cheap guitars. You would like
me to try in the comments. Keep it under 300 bucks because we already
know we can build a better guitar for $300 than Fender can make.
    Bwahahaha
All right I really appreciate you watching and if you have to have this guitar
I see now it only comes in a bundle but here’s a link!!

For a student guitar player, Yamaha Pacifica. I swear by them. EART and Firefly are good budget options but be prepared to do a little bit of setup on those. I wouldn't spend less than 300$ on something decent for a student. It needs to be exciting enough to play to keep them interested. Hell even as a 40+ year music veteran, I still live by that rule.

When I started to play guitar my father took me to the music shop and told me to get a cheap guitar out of the used bargain bin rack. The one of FL200 guilders at the time. Which was like $100 to $150 in 80's dollars I think. He figured if he quits on it that way he wouldn't lose much money on it. Oddly enough he figured I should get a good guitar amp, so he got me a Fender Twin Reverb for like FL1200 used. A silverface with orange JBL speakers in it. The reason being it would hold its value. Which also became the bane of my then existence as its HEAVY AS F***! Whoever designed it must have hauled ammunition in the mountains of Italy during WW2 or something, thus developing biceps of steel or something. The guitar, a Japanese Les Paul clone, I lost pretty soon, ironically it ended up back for the same price in that budget rack in the same store. But I still have the amp and it has given me a lifetime lust for Fender cleans in my clean sound.

You are spittin' truth Brother. I have a guitar and drum tech business. You cannot get a guitar that doesn't need tech work, for less than $350. The Harley Benton at stuff at $250 needs tech work, all the ones I've seen need at least one issue addressed. Kids need guitars that play easily, stay in tune and are intonated. Otherwise, they give it up.

I think that if you're not able to put in the work that it takes to bring up one of those inexpensive guitars then you probably should steer clear. I have Fender, Ibanez, and Charvel as well as Glarry and I believe that with work you can make the Glarrys fairly nice. That being said, I don't think a newbie can go wrong if they purchase their first guitar from a mom and pop type music store because generally they are setup already and they offer the after sales service and parts for making it a good experience. Most offer lessons as well which is another helpful tool in making the new player successful.

  • @sodapopkidd

Typically I agree about sub $150 guitars. I did upgrade a Glarry bass once and made it respectable though. Total cost purchase ND upgrades came out to about $200 so it just shows that uou might as well just buy a $200 bass to begin with.
My Sawtooth telecaster I bought on sale for $65 and I didn't have to do anything to it. Played perfectly and sounds good. I think the regular price is around $150 though.

Every Glarry guitar I have played, or in one case owned has been garbage. I bought one of those Glarry thinlines that came out and what a headache that was. For instance, the nut was a 43mm which they cut down to 42mm instead of using the correct size nut. Both E strings were so close to the edge it was barely playable. That should have been my clue to send it back, but I didnt. I changed the nut, and decided to use this guitar as luthier practice, trust me it has given me hours upon hours of practice. Never buying a glarry again, ever.

Good video showing the truth. Now being a left handed player, many options are not available. I did however come across an amazing "budget" guitar on Amazon. Eastrock brand, came with everything a beginner could use including a cheap amp. The highlight being the neck is roasted maple with very well finished and polished frets. The setup is very good out of the box and I have no complaints about the HSS pickups. Also comes in a padded gig bag.

Guitars from Amazon that are very cheap (under $130 or so) are not like Epiphone or Fender or PRS caliber guitars... it is common sense. They are NOT going to be adjusted and tuned to pitch in the box and do not expect ir. Sawtooth guitars are adjusted and made of good parts and are cheap, but they are the exception. Glarry, Indio and a few other China-made guitars are what are sold on Amazon. The South Viet Namese guitars are from IYV and are pretty well made of OK parts.

I have to respectfully disagree with the wood, I get a different sound with the exact same pickups in the same model from mahogony to poplar. Would a listener tell the difference? No. Can I tell the difference? Yes. It's been my experience that sustain comes from the bridge & nut, upgrading both has made the biggest difference to me. Finish has also made a difference in my experience, as paint vs natural. These are all minor nuances, but when added together make a significant difference. Electronics, & especially pups & amp settings make the biggest difference, but when you add the nuanced applications they clean up, or dirty up, what's coming through the electronics/pups/amp, at least that's been my experience from my learning process.

I guess they sent you a ringer on the telecaster they sent you. It was killer, but this thing is definitely a piece of crap. It isn't worth $2. What do you think of the monoprice indio telecaster guitars? Last question are playing through an amp or software on your computer?

  • @sassycat
    @sassycat Год назад +1

    Wow, what a bargain. 🙄
How long can you play it before the frets get pitted or some other metal parts fail? It's why I'm leery of budget guitars to start with (still on the fence with Harley Benton).
I have an idea, but I don't know if you want to do it: Fender shootout - China vs. Indonesia vs. Mexico vs. America made Strats.
Ordering one of those coffee mugs come payday. #TELFLMIH

$69 of pain & suffering delivered straight to your door. The only gratification you get from this guitar is the ability to return it for a full refund!

I'm not a betting man but i'd bet a dollar that was shipped and returned then shipped to you . The saddle thing makes me think someone tried to adjust it ...... . I bought a kit from the same company. I was going to try and build it for a friend and the neck was so bad i didn't bother taking anything else out of the box and sent it straight back . 99% of the time get what ya pay for .....

Anyone buying a guitar under 300$ should expect to do a bit of work.
Shit I've picked up 1000-2000$ strats and Gibson's with sharp fret ends in guitar center on a couple of occasions.
I found a really nice pj bass copy by peavy at a local store and it was the best off the wall guitar ive ever picked up.
Hit and miss, its getting to where brand and price means nothing

Epi! As far as decent basses in that price range your best bet is used: Jackson JS2, Ibanez GSR200, Yamaha RBX series-probably 150s easily in this range -maybe a few 170s, Squier Affinity. Only decent new bass in this price range is an SX Ursa available from Rondo.
