Hi Martin, I remember when I talked to a follow ham about the new (then) TS50 with full HF and 100 watt, and he was not taking it, trying to explain to me that its "impossible" to package a 100 watt finals into that size radio because of thermal managements and other technical things he was talking about and insisting that I misunderstood or misheard that it was a 100 watt, then finally after few months I came to see it by myself and the fellow ham was speechless! .. indeed it was a miracle to have such a small packaged radio.
I remember the newsletter with the van, someone from the radio club had one. The Pickets Lock radio rallies used to be great fun, so much is remote and virtual these days. Hope the team recover from Covid soon. 73 de G7JVN.
I used to love Pickets Lock, always extremely busy with many traders, until one year I went it wasn't as near busy or big as previous years, possibly the price for stalls had gone up a lot? I understood the whole sports complex that housed it is now gone.
I remember buying a VX7R from you in early 2000's! Would have ordered it on the phone and always remember speaking to Martin himself! I only just got my licence back then too! Can't believe it has been all that time as remember that radio well, was very well made as are all from yourselves.
Hi Steve, lots of memories indeed. I will get together a monster pile of all the old gear, plug it in and provided they don't burn the store down, do a special Rigs from the Past Special. Cheers, 73 de G4HKS
As a newbie to radio it was a pleasure to watch the nostalgia. Id be curious to fast forward thirty years and see if we are reminiscing over the echo link app and meshtastics 😂 great video 👍
Excellent company recently bought my Dx10 from you guys always a pleasant transaction and made to feel that your customer is valued. Love the videos some of the other emporiums could learn from the way you do business. Cheers 73 M7FLL.
Thank you Roger. There aren't many emporiums left these days, which from a customer point of view is a shame in my opinion. Two of the old "competition" having permanently closed their doors, dismissed their staff and left the area, yet still advertising from another shop with just a name. Beats me. Appreciate your continued support, 73 de G4HKS.
Interesting video boss ... the green clock I received last week is perfect, particularly as it alters its brightness depending on light levels in the shack and as you say now has the remote - so no climbing on chairs! 73 GM4JKZ
Dear Martin, many thanks for this thoroughly enjoyable set of memories, it seems like yesterday that I used to visit you at your stores when I worked at West Drayton, such happy days. Bideford is a lovely place to enjoy retirement, best 73 Dave G6EJD
I retired last Friday. Went to a garden centre today. Apparently it's what retired people do. I am pretty sure I bought a KDK 2m radio from you second hand not long after you started advertising. That's another brand of the past. GM4SVM
Many congrats on retirement Gordon, I hope you enjoy yourself as much as I do. Visiting garden centres? I have been known to frequent these type of stores from time to time. Gold mines at Christmas I gather.... 73 de G4HKS
I have to agree with you, at least we still have a proper radio store - and our own staff! Be surprised how many still advertising that don't.... 73 de G4HKS.
