These new D4 2.0 diesels ( Code : VEA) have an issue with the EGR cooler. Not sue if it’s sorted yet but otherwise a fantastic car.

The old 6speed gearbox is very good. Holds up to 500.000 + km in our taxis. On the vv dsg7 it crashes all the time.

+yamahaevo Bmw also use tje japaneese gearbox the differens is volvo want it to hold up better therefor the "slow" gearshifts wich is not that slow. look at some forums for bmw gearbox failures.

An excellent video! Your presentation and personality are superb. I have an XC60 D5 AWD on order with this On Call feature as an option so I look forward to using it! Thank you 👍🏼😎

Bit of a harsh review ref the handling - the R-design has the sportier suspension set up plus sports seats - corners much better as other reviews mention. I had a 09 SE model XC60 and my 2015 D4 R-design handles much better with less roll and the seats much more supportive. Still competitive in its sector with healthy discounts in the Volvo dealerships which reflect the models age now. Still looks good 8 years on from launch - all new model due in late 2017 seemingly

The floating stack is actually a good 12-13 years old at least, I've got it in my S40 from 2003. But yeah the functionality is rather meh

As far as I know, there is no "bigger" D4 engine, you either get 2.0l 4 cylinder D4 (fairly new engine), 2.4l 5 cylinder 2.4D or 2.4l 5 cylinder D5.

      Check out engine specs
      D5244T17 vs. D4204T5 vs. D5244T12
      They are all called D4.

well, marek is probably talking of the D4 AWD which is a bigger D4 (2,4L I-5 engine).
the 2,4D name was removed 2011 or 2012.
D4 AWD is a D5 AWD but with different software to limit the engine power from 215hp or 220hp depending on year model down to 181hp or 190hp.

Do u need to pay for the volvo on call even if you only use it for the engine heater and start function?

I'm afraid so, but it's best to ask you Volvo dealer.

Hi Marek, about to buy a xc60 D4 automatic. is AWD really a must ? D4 automatic awdcomes with 6speeds whereas D4 automatic fwd comes in geartronic 8 speed. which one would you recommend the most ?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 лет назад +1

It depends where you live, where you drive, what kind of a driver are you. If you only do school-runs on tarmac, you don't really need AWD.

Marek Drives thanks for the reply. Mostly city rides, regular flat roads, some snow and wet conditions. Some long distance trips too. thanks for the advice

In a recent experience with Volvo Roadside Assistance for my XC60, I spent over eight hours on the side of the road waiting in the cold in DC due to a battery issue. They sent two tow trucks who were completely incompetent, and then the third one was able to move my car. The third one couldn't figure out why the others couldn't tow my XC60. The first one also completely fried my battery, so I was unable to even lock the car. He told me I would have to work with the dealer to get the car towed. Talked to three different dealers in the area, and they all said that it had to be Volvo Roadside Assistance. They all acted like they were completely different organizations. It was a horrible experience, and I'm now going with AAA and will get a different brand of car next time too.

      8 hours?!
BTW, which model year is your XC60? Does it have On Call like this one or is it just a regular roadside assistance provided by the dealer? I'm not sure what system you guys are using in the US. GPS location services combined with roadside assistance are relatively new in Europe (although becoming increasingly popular due to EU regulations).

Did you actually check the on call functionality in real life and what is your opinion on how good it works? This video is just citing the brochure while driving.

At the time it was a novelty worth mentioning. Probably my first car connected to an app, so back then I didn't have much to compare it to. Also there is only so much I can test in real life, and show on video. Sorry for not crashing into a tree in some hard-to-find location ;)
From time's perspective, it's a gimmick. Next generation may interesting. The app is unintuitive, and communication between the car and the app is slow. Some of the functions seem pointless. Like starting the car remotely, but only when it's locked, and only for two minutes. I suppose preconditioning the car, etc. could be useful, if you don't park in a garage. In Sweden Volvo was testing grocery/parcel delivery to car, but it's not something that's going to work everywhere.
